Hello and welcome to The House of Umbrae Octo, meaning the House of Eight Shadows in Latin. I am Master Vampire Nightgame, the House Master. I was chosen by Cancer, our Prince, to take over the leadership of this House as one of the seven permanent societies he created. This House has a long history and is well known on the site. But as with any long-standing societies, change is needed. I have decided to take my House into the wonderful world of… VAMPIRES!
Vampires have always held a special place in my heart, as I am sure they have in your own. From the black and white Nosferatu movie, the cape wearing Dracula, to the clash of werewolves and the vampires of movies such as Underworld. Let us not forget the sparkles added with the Twilight series, the sexy vampires of True Blood, and of the day walker Blade. Even the enigma of a vampire with a soul in Buffy’s universe. This is only scratching the surface of the wonderful vampires seen in motion on the screen.
Books, comics, short stories, and poetry are another aspect that bring the Vampire to life. The classical Bram Stoker's Dracula was my first glimpse into the undead. Salem’s Lot, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, and the extremely popular Interview with a Vampire series. Another of my favorite series is Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter. The poetry by the likes of Lord Byron and Charles Baudelaire only adds to the mystique. We love to read about vampires, the millions of such printed works prove as much.
So much lore and legend surround the Vampire and for generations we have been enthralled with those stories. We gather on a site dedicated to the ideal of its powers, and the basic entertainment it offers, with a cascading database full of items. So, why not have a House dedicated to this subject? That is the vision I have for this House. In our forum, we will be open to all films and printed words we wish to talk of as the Vampire is worth talking about.
