Matrix Rules

A Matrix is a scramble of several words. There are different Matrix sizes:
4 x 4
5 x 5
6 x 6
7 x 7
8 x 8
A 5 x 5 Matrix is 5 words, each 5 letters in length.

Creating a Matrix

If you create a Matrix, you only supply the words. The Matrix is automatically formed. If no one solves your Matrix in 24 hours, you receive 10 Favor.

There are limits on the number of Matrices you and your House/Coven can create:
  • You can have only 1 unsolved Matrix at any given time.

  • If someone solves your Matrix you can create a new one.

  • If after 24 hours you have an unsolved Matrix, you can then create a new Matrix.

  • The number of Matrices that your House/Coven can have at any given time can never exceed 5% of the House/Coven population.

  • If your House has 100 members, there is a limit of 5 unsolved Matrices at any given time.
  • Solving a Matrix

    You can solve Matrices created by members not in your House/Coven. The Favor you receive depends upon the difficulty of the Matrix:
    4 x 4 - 15 Favor
    5 x 5 - 20 Favor
    6 x 6 - 35 Favor
    7 x 7 - 50 Favor
    8 x 8 - 100 Favor

    We are looking for four four letter words. All of the letters that make up the four words are displayed in the matrix.

    In addition to the Matrix, you also get a clue:

    The Clue is the sum of the two coordinates of the point on the matrix where the correct letter for that spot will appear. The problem is that the sum of many coordinates are the same.

    Looking at the above Matrix, you can see that there is only one letter M. Looking at the clue for the spot the M is in, you see the number 4. This means that the sum of the coordinates for the letter M must add up to 4. The M could be in the positions:
