Hier bin ich. Ja, ich kann Englisch und Deutsch sprechen. Mein Deutsch ist so gut wie ein acht-jaehrigers Deutsch. Mein Grammatik ist nicht so gut, und mein Schrift auch nicht. Aber ich kann perfekt lesen und so weiter. Ich liebe Sprachen. Ich will Frazoezisch lernen weil es so schoen ist. Ich will auch viele andere Sprachen lernen... ich will sechs bis zehn Sprachen wissen als ich 30 jahre alt bin.

5. I love to observe. I see beauty in everything. Observation and perception are valuable skills that most people lack.
6. I love old movies and black-and-white photography (Dorothea Lange).
7. My favorite actress is Greta Garbo.
8. I wish I could play the guitar. I can, sort of. Lately though, I've wanted to play bass and be one of those BAMF rocker chicks. Or a BAMF chess player.
9. My first word was "twinkle."
10. Don't talk about my parents... or my finances. Just don't do it.
11. I would really trade being a boy and being a creepy cannibalistic murderer to be as smart as Hannibal Lecter. Hands down.
12. I try to be artsier than I really am... I feel inadequate most of the time. Like I'm not interesting enough. I wish I were a polymath.

14. I keep a copy of Shakespeare's Complete Works on my bedside table where most people would keep a Bible.
15. I really like Edward Gorey. Like a lot. But not in a creepy way; I just admire his work.
16. I am painfully socially awkward and also embarrassingly domestic: I like cooking, reading, knitting, beadwork... fashion... and keeping organized.

I have a very strange sense of humor. It's pretty subtle and a lot of people don't get it (that is, they think I don't have one). In truth I am very keen on humor in life... it's just that I most enjoy it simply thrown into life, disguised as seriousness, so you have to be looking for it. I am somewhat sarcastic, though I would categorize my humor as less cynical and bitter and more clever and quick-witted. I prefer not to categorize, though. I like some stupid jokes and some children's humor... kids are so bright. And, like most people here on VR, my sense of humor is reasonably dark and morbid. Mmmm, death.
I suffer from a lack of self-confidence, no doubt instilled by my miserable, poor childhood and abusive single mother. (Again with the humor.) Though in all seriousness, I do tend to beat myself up over everything (my appearance, my intelligence, situations where I screwed up...). I am a pretty intense perfectionist, I probably have mild OCD as well as some form of bipolar disorder... worse than normal mood swings but probably not bad enough to be clinically diagnosed.
I am also pretty self-contradictory. I have very high standards, especially for myself. I am both more and less mature than average... I am a generally serious person and I love philosophical and personal conversation. At the same time, I harbor a childlike obsession with bordering on belief in magic(k). I am fiercely independent and yet sometimes totally lost without support. I need someone who can let me be myself and support me when I need it. That said, I'm not looking for anyone.

As for music, I will truly listen to anything as long as it's good music. I like everything from classical to metal to techno to hip-hop to alternative rock. I will even listen to pop and country, as long as it's good pop and country... so I don't listen to much of those genres. My list of favorite artists is quite long, so I won't bother with that, but I will say that I get into very specific moods for a genre or even a song. Right now it's Metallica's Black Album.
I speak English and German, and I am learning Latin and French. I am quite interested in learning Italian, Japanese, Hebrew, Greek, and Dutch. If I have time, I would also like to learn Polish, Swahili, Sanskrit, Mandarin, Gaelic, and Arabic. I love languages and culture. Travel is one of the most broadening things a person can do. I want to learn Hungarian and then go to Cséjthe and read Erzsébet Báthory's diaries.

Things I Like...
Music, languages, color, history, the colors purple, green, black, and silver, chocolate, caramel, autumn, New York City, philosophy, art, theatre, iced coffee, minty things, cooking and baking, the smell of onions, kissing, rain and snow... I like wearing sunglasses (and real glasses, even though I don't need them to see) and finding good cheap clothes and food, and getting flowers. I collect old plastic milk bottle tops and little souvenirs from places I've visited even if the connection isn't clear to other people (e.g., I have a little ceramic squirrel from Costa Rica). I have an affinity for lists. I secretly like fashion. I love falling asleep reading and waking up on lazy mornings. I like pomegranates and their symbolic meaning. I love finding people whose eyes sparkle. It's a very specific trait, sparks in one's eyes, that few have; I'm not quite sure what it means, but it denotes a very special person indeed. Though I do prefer to ramble in my own words, I like quotes very much. I'd like to say I can quote you to death... but that's probably not true.
Things I Don't Like...
Stupidity (I really have no tolerance for it) and prejudice, studying, math, the colors pink, orange, yellow, and some browns, custard, marshmallows, spring, Las Vegas, Sigmund Freud, extra noise, drama, smoothies, exercising, the smell of meat (I'm a vegetarian), heat and humidity... and I hate when people bump into me because they aren't looking where they're going.. it's like when people drive while talking on their cell phones. I also hate bad music. And bad food... there is so much opportunity for great food and music, why waste your time with crap? One of the ugliest things in the world is prejudice. Just love people, guys! We are different enough to keep each other interested and similar enough to know better than to hate another. I'm disappointed in humans.
