Straight down a road still bending
Course of the heart still mending
Wrapped in memories bandaged and bloody,
Struggling through faces tarnished and muddy,
Carrying weights stained by their tears,
Feeling the fate entrapped by the years,
Ripped apart inside, and pushed together out,
Regrets were never meant to carry such deadly clout,
Suffocating from stasis, and acting now at the latest,
Faces waiting at the end of the tunnels
The whirling riptide into which all life funnels
Thrown into an oblivion colored with hate,
Climbing back out to defy one’s own fate,
Boots on the ground to hear their comforting pound,
Feeling the rumble and embracing the sound,
Driving forward, toward the darkening cloud,
Piercing the day and parting the shroud
The task is at hand, the decision to make
Filling the hole, and removing the stake
Revealing the soul and draining the lake
Seeing inside the life not mine to take,
The hand reaches out, without malice and without doubt
The choice being given, it’s a rift that’s still hidden,
There’s a name that it’s now time to shout,
Summer’s fierce rain wiping away all the pain,
Wounds will clean themselves out
A life changing start, something new with a heart,
Beating with a life still unknown.
