I’ll be moving enough stuff this week into my new place to ensure that I’m there full-time before the weekend is out. ❤️ Bed and mattress to be delivered within the next couple days! 😁

My dog will be so happy!

I’m planning a trellis on the side of my house with climbing roses. My son is going to be having a little collection of his own plants there as well. He got me a lemon tree a couple years ago, it’s still in the pot. I’ve always wanted a lemon tree at a home I owned – but figured it probably wouldn’t happen. Now that lemon tree will be planted.

I can’t wait until all of the furniture deliveries are over. I have one item on the way… And then a few more to order once I am over there full-time – at this time it should be within a couple of weeks. I just want to get to the point where I don’t have to worry about waiting on someone. It messes with my anxiety. Although it seems to be a little less over there.

I’ve always wanted to get into birding, but since I’ve been spending some time over there at this new house that passion has bloomed. When I’m sitting over there on my back porch, I hear so many different bird species that I can’t help but be so enamored with it.

I got a really nice pair of binoculars for my walks, and I’m planning on bird houses and feeders at home. I’m going to get one of those feeders that has a camera on it – it will video the birds that stop by as well as identify them with AI. I have a House Finch nest on my front porch with babies in it right now. 🫠

There’s quite a bird watching community over there – because the Chalmette Battlefield has numerous. You can imagine a field attracts tons of different species. The Chalmette Battlefield is where the battle of New Orleans happened. Soldiers who died on both sides are buried there as well as Veterans who passed away all the way to the Vietnam war. I’ve been there more times than I can count, but my visits from here on out will take advantage of seeing the birds. 😁🐦

I LOVE birds. I have never thought of bird watching, but I love to sit and listen to them sing, especially in the morning. There is something I find peaceful about it. I am of the mindset that birds are my spirit animal. Perhaps a specific species, but not sure which as of yet. I have even had a bird land on my shoulder, as I was walking towards a grocery store, like I was friggin Snow White. Was an interesting happening. When we are out of town, they like to fly up to my cameras at the house and chirp. I think they are asking where I am! lol. When we are able to buy a house, I plan on feeders and houses as well. I would LOVE to see pictures if you ever take any of all the pretty birdies. :)

I could complain about a bunch of stuff that seems to be going sideways right now, but I refuse to let the world get in the way of my good mojo. Negativity will always try to get your attention. And as soon as you let it… you can’t possibly focus on gratitude. The good is outweighing all of the trivialities and scheduling conflicts. You know… Stuff that would actually have people cussing up a storm… I just can’t let it mess with me.

I’ll be spending most of the day at the new house tomorrow waiting for Best Buy to come hook up my new washer and dryer. There needs to be a licensed technician to hook up a gas dryer. 🤷🏻‍♀️ They delivered them on Monday, then said they couldn’t hook them up because of that. A whole lot of other stuff that I won’t get into and then finally and hopefully, they will be connected tomorrow.

All I have are my two counter stools as furniture there at this time. I’m not going to sit in one of those all day long, as comfortable as they are, they aren’t meant for a 10 hour day. All of my big stuff will be moved in a few weeks, but I wanted to get som thing now to be really comfortable in for all the other days that I’m there doing other things. I found an adorable light rose pink leather recliner at Rooms To Go. It’s super comfortable. It had all five star reviews online, but I saw it in the store before I looked it up online. I sat in it and was highly pleased.

It’s a stationary recliner (no swivel and no rocking) and manual. I have a really nice electric leather recliner with tons of different settings and USB outlets… But the problem with that is when the power goes out it’s really awkward to get out of if you’re reclined lol… And also, this one with all the bells and whistles also swivels, and my Derpy dog is always running into me and spinning me into my end table- then if I have a drink on the end table, it goes flying. It’s quite a scene.

We were able to get this pink leather recliner into our Acadia with the seats down… So now I have this really cozy chair to hang out in there tomorrow. I’ll bring my school computer with me and take care of assignments to keep me busy.

Trivial things aside, it sounds like things are going well! I LOVE decorating..... I play The Sims for that reason... not so much to play as the characters but to build and decorate the houses... (I play the game too of course, but you get what I'm saying) I can't wait to find out what you decide will be your very first meal cooked in that kitchen!

Fiber Internet was never available here in Military housing – but it is over at the new house, so that was installed yesterday. So much faster than your average high-speed Internet. Really excited about that. I might get back into World of Warcraft if I can figure out some free time.

Back over there tomorrow because the new washer and dryer are being delivered, the gas is being turned on, and ADT will be back to connect the cameras to the Internet. A lot was installed there last week with ADT but tomorrow the cameras should be working as well as a keypad lock. Between my damn near Fort Knox security and my dog that goes off at any little thing… I think I’ll be safe. 😁

Closing day was smooth. Got the keys – and then quickly got the electricity, gas, and water/sewer in my name. Went to World Market and got a couple of quality stools for the other side of the island. They are nicely cushioned, with back rests, and 360 swivel. Even though the island is 8 feet long – I decided to just have two of these stools. I’ll never have a ton of people over – and the two seats won’t be crowded. It actually looks perfect with just the two with plenty of space in between them – they aren’t tiny. I still have a small round table with four chairs that will be next to it.

Since our first walk-through, the microwave has been built into the island – instead of just sitting inside of that space, which didn’t necessarily look bad. But now it definitely looks great.

I have never dealt with quartz countertops before. Although they aren’t as heat resistant as granite, I like them better. The heat resistance thing doesn’t bother me – I’ve never in my life put a burning hot pan on my counter. I’ve always used trivets, with heat resistant placemats even under those.

Probably won’t be fully moved in until sometime in June. That’s OK though – little by little easily moved things can get over there and in the end I’ll have movers bring the big stuff. I’m going to make this as easy as possible. Moving really sucks… I’ll let the professionals take care of that and just focus on the unpacking.

This also gives me the opportunity to once again go through everything I own and purge. Do that Marie Kondo thing again- hold each item and say, “do I want to bring you into my future?” Ask myself if I really use these things… Is it a piece of clothing I actually wear? And when was the last time I wore it? Does this bring me joy? 😂 I’m going to be able to downsize a lot, which is good because I have collected too much over the years.

In my mind, I can already see myself at my desk in this house, just writing like a mad woman. Feeling good about my surroundings and away from military housing. I kind of can’t believe that I decided to move back into military housing so many years after being out of the Marines. One of the things that I hated about being in the Marine Corps was constantly being under their thumb in ways that go far beyond the civilian world. Military housing is not like being a conventional renter. No one really has privacy. It’s great to have your lawns mowed every week, and the benefits that come along with it like all of your utilities being included in your rent. But they never really got to maintenance issues quickly. And sometimes they could be invasive like walking in your house on accident thinking you were some other unit they were sent to repair stuff for. Even then… They should’ve fucking knocked.

Then there is the violent dude that lives next-door who has my dog shaking all the time. I don’t completely know what’s going on in his house… But he has these horrible monster screams. He has two very small children in diapers that he controls with serious fear. The other day, I was taking Uber to my VA appointment, and the wife was walking their two children in this double stroller while on the phone with him. I heard her say, “you won’t let me work, you won’t let me have access to any money, so you need to get things for us immediately when we need them – I’m going to leave.“ This lines up with the inaudible things I hear on the other side of this wall. I knew he was mean as hell, but now I know he’s got this lady trapped. ☹️

He is always screaming at the top of his lungs and slamming doors as loud as he can. My dog starts whining and shaking and tries to crawl under my skin. He can’t get close enough to me… Moving will be good for him in so many ways. Everything about this home purchase is a serious level up in life.

This is all so exciting! I am so happy for you and a bit jealous too! lol! (more so happy though)

That neighbor sounds horrible! Based on just this insight, I hope she does leave him.... makes you wonder about the safety of her and the littles! Dogs usually are a very good judge of character, so I bet yours is super in tune with how that man is.
