I haven't been sick in three years thanks to masks and COVID isolation. Well, I go and do one social thing where you cannot wear a mask and boom, I am sick. Fortunately, it is not COVID or the flu. My immune system sucks because of the biologics that I take for migraines. It wasn't the best in the first place. Ugh.

Today is the meeting with my (hopefully) future attorney. I woke up early to prepare for the meeting. I always preferred it when clients came with a well-thought-out list of questions. It makes a consultation much easier because it is hard to outline the whole legal process in one, very limited time slot. I am praying that his retainer is more along the $3000 line rather than the $5000-$7500 range. I guess we will see.
The telephone call with Siemens yesterday was a bust. Before they can/will tell me much of anything they want a death certificate and my dad's marriage certificate to his current wife. Unless she voluntarily gives this to me, I am not sure how I am going to obtain that. I know it is public record had they been married in the United States, but they were married in Korea. It will be interesting though if I can locate the certificate. I will be curious to see when they were married. My parents weren't divorced until December 22, 1999 and my father's former secretary thinks that he may have gotten married prior to that date. That will create another interesting situation because that would invalidate his marriage. You can't get married when you are married. LOL. Common sense and all. My dad was an incredibly book smart man; he had a Ph.D. in both physics and math. Unfortunately, he did not have tons of common sense about a lot of things. Stay tuned for the nest episode of My Family Drama.
My anxiety is better today. I am not sure why, but I will take it.
Kopi went to the vet yesterday and he has gained another 1/2 of a pound! He is almost back to his best weight. I am so pleased. The vet was really happy as well. She said he looked great and seemed to be feeling pretty good. Now, I just have to find him some food that he likes again. He has started turning his nose up at the canned food he liked two weeks ago. :-( He seems to be on a pate kick which is shocking being that he couldn't be bothered with the stuff the last several years. Cats. LOL. Well, he will be 18 on Saturday so he can eat whatever he damned well pleases.

I do not know why, for me, anxiety accompanies grief. My anxiety is high this morning. It started last night and has gotten progressively worse throughout the night and into this morning. I have several telephone meetings this week regarding my dad's estate which is probably the source of the anxiety. Anything I do not have a solid knowledge base of causes me anxiety. Also, uncertainty does not help. Everyone thinks that because I am a lawyer, I know everything about every area of the law. That is just not true. Most lawyers have a basic knowledge of the law but specialize in an area. That is exactly what I did, so when it comes to probate, that is not my wheelhouse. Hopefully, by tomorrow I will have a lawyer retained. I am just praying that the retainer amount is less not more. Ugh.

Well, I am attempting to go into the office this morning. There is super dense fog in the area so I am going in later than usual. Also, I do not feel like battling traffic. I decided to go for a brisk walk this morning to burn off some of the anxiety I have been feeling. That seems to have helped.
Honestly, I am only going into the office because our team is having a dessert party with Key Lime pie. ;-) Lol! Who wants to miss Key Lime pie? Not me, that is for sure. Anyway, we won a foam pumpkin carving contest at Halloween and won a free dessert party. Carving a foam pumpkin is harder than it sounds. Did I tell you that I have the coolest job?

I am tired and no matter how much I sleep, I am not getting rested. I am having the strangest nightmares related to my dad's death. In the one last night, I was being chased by this ventilator that had hoses coming out of it like an octopus. It sounds comical, but in the dream, it was anything but amusing.
Today was supposed to be my first day back in the office since I worked from home last week. I was having a terrible panic attack and texted my director to let him know that there was no way I could drive downtown today to work. I am grateful and thankful that he is understanding and told me just to come in when I feel comfortable. I am also blessed to have a job that I can do just as effectively and efficiently from home.
And it is only 7:13 a.m. I have no idea how I am going to survive this day.
