...the dog ate her flash drive?

Well, I guess neither of them are backed up anymore, eh?

excuse me, but if I ate a flash drive, I'd say I would be pretty damn backed up...lol

But in my dad's immortal words, "This too shall pass..."

I don't know. Any time any of my dogs ate anything like that it went through them pretty quick.

I had a doberman that ate an oven mit, a hand towel and half of a throw rug... talk about festive colored lawn...

...just reading through Best Buy/Geek Squad complaint blogs... I can't believe that anyone still takes anything to them for repair.

Some of these complaints are ridiculous. Charging a customer almost $200 to fix a brand-new laptop that was DOA? What the hell are manufacturer warranties for? If you sell it and it doesn't work, handle it and make the customer happy - that's always been my philosophy.

I think the main problem is they're too big of a company to handle the logitstics of each individual repair. Either that or their ticket tracking system is inadequate and/or not being used properly. Maybe it's a combination - but when you have uncertified, minimum wage workers handling a service that requires a certain level of attention and professionalism, this IS the unavoidable end result.

Oh, but their commercials are so witty and the VW Bugs decked out like police cars, so fancy. I guess that makes it worth it to people.

I've been following that news as well. I'd never choose an iPad as a mobile 'computer'. But I've decided on an iPod Touch as opposed to getting an iPod Classic and a Kindle- because I can have them both in the iPod Touch. I'd rarely if ever use my iPod Touch to surf the web. I'd rather the convenience of a regular computer (or even my Android phone) for that. There would never be a need for me to find a wi fi spot to use my iTouch... unless my phone was destroyed and I was in some 'bind'. The information I'd have on my iTouch would get there via being synced with my computer. I make my Kindle and iTunes downloads there.

In the end, I don't find the iPad worth it. I'm sure it has a brilliant resolution. But then again... if you are used to typing quickly on a conventional keyboard- trying to get used to touch keys? It's just going to be slower.

All that being said, I wouldn't turn a iPad away if it were gifted to me. Watching movies on one while traveling would probably be nice.

Yes, but a lot of people are considering this as a replacement to a laptop or tablet. It has other serious limitations that would or should discourage that as a consideration. Yet, people are doing it just the same.

Seems that everyone has bad things to say about the ipad... I bought one and my 5 year old daughter loves it.. and it has been a huge impact in her life. The simplicity of the touch screen is perfect for kids. She was having a hard time learning her alphabet and now after just a couple weeks with her ipad.. she's got it. The art apps are fabulous as well. It might be a pricey toy for a kid but the results have been worth it for sure.

That is awesome!

Computers do help kids. My daughter was typing and reading at 2 because I let her bang away on WordPad on an old P75 Toshiba.

Not knocking the iPad, just saying, the old junk can teach kids too. :)

...1:15AM, got this zen-store working through and through. Had to get it done.

Big kuddos to Morri for doing the design work with some limitations put on us by the director of the project.

I sure hope he realizes the bargain he's getting on this one...

It's never been easy...

...but it's good to see I still have a great internal clock.

I had to be up around 3AM today to start a network cabling job at a local Target at 4AM. My cell phone has been flaky lately and of course my alarm didn't go off.

But it must be all those years of catching early flights... right around 3:20AM my brain said, "wake up," and I did.

The job wasn't exactly as straightforward as advertised when they asked me if we would be willing to take on this project, but it all worked out in the end... and I got to play around with one of those electric, mobile scaffold thingies!

After 15 minutes of learning how to drive it, it became fun. Heh.
