I had to take my sweet old fella to the vet today. He's been limping, holding his back leg up while he walks about. some of you will remember a few years ago when he was run over by a large truck and we were touch n go trying to get him all healed up. I am guessing that this is related to that injury.

Our little friends aren't able to tell us when they are in pain. I imagine he's always had a level of pain since the accident, but perhaps it's gotten worse, maybe arthritic lately. He's had a couple of accidents in the house which he never ever does.

Also, he's not himself when we pet or praise him. Usually, he's a complete attention diva, rolling on the floor with his paws in the air, enticing you to give a belly rub. Lately, though, he barely wags his tail.

I'm hoping my sweet old boy will get a good report, that there's a way to treat his pain, or maybe he just has a bit of doggie flu and we'll have him up and begging for treats again before you know it.

I've heard so many bad outcomes where pets are concerned of late I demand a happy ending to this one.

My thoughts are with you.

He made me breakfast this morning, a beautiful omelet with colorful peppers and my favorite purple onions, the cheese melted in the center. It was fluffy and so tasty! The house smells like love.

Yes, love is omelet-scented!

I've always thought that too.

Besides, the man making breakfast the next morning has become an expectation if not an outright obligation.

We really share. I make a mean Eggs Benedict!

The weirdest thing has been learning to make beans on toast to go with his eggs. Her Majesty's subjects gobble that stuff down!

To me, love smells like pancakes. And I make some mean pancakes.

I get some tins of Heinz Beans from the British Food Shop website. Just can't duplicate the sauce here. And they do go great on toast!

We were able to match a family of 8 up with a donated mini van. The need came across a few days before a lady called up and asked if she could donate a vehicle to the Center. What are the odds that it would come through now and be big enough for this family?

The family who will receive the vehicle has a mom and a dad who both work full time. The engine blew on their last vehicle and they just didn't have the funds to fix it or buy another one. They just needed a hand.

In times like this, I know I have the best job in the world. EVERYONE is so blessed. The Center paid 5 of the 6 mos. of insurance and the transfer fees. The family who donated the car were in tears, as were the recipients...and I'd be lying if I told you that our eyes were dry here. We got a bunch of food to them, too.

I love what I do. I love my community. I love you guys. There is more generosity of spirit in this world than people seem to know.

I have plans.

His gift has been purchased 2 weeks ago and stashed in my closet. I found a great stuffed animal (he's a guy that you can give a stuffed animal to) at our Thrift Shop. I also bought his second gift there, An Eddie Bauer insulated bag that has 2 wine glasses, a corkscrew, napkins, and a zipper compartment for a bottle of wine.

I have his favorite chocolates in the glasses and a bottle of red wine.

Did I ever write about our wedding? It was very small and private. We asked 3 friends. Lester stood with Stabb as best man. His wife took pictures. My friend, Lori, stood with me. It was sunset on a pier overlooking Lake Pontchartrain. Our pastor met us there and we set up a tiny table with our beautiful, tiny wedding cake (there's a great story that goes with it...I'll have to write about that later), glasses, and champagne.

Two men were fishing on the pier and we invited them to share cake and champagne with us after our vows. The sun setting on the lake was gorgeous and it was September, so the warm breezes were also lovely.

People were swimming beside the pier and when we left, some lined up along the ramp and congratulated us. Others yelled and cheered from the water. It was so beautiful and unexpected to have them celebrate with us. We were so quiet that I didn't think people had noticed.

It was not a big wedding. There was no fanfare other than the purples, reds, and oranges that God painted across the sky and water. But it was perfect. It was filled with love, people who love us, and even the joy of people who happened to be there.

Tonight, we'll wrap up and toast one another on that pier. Our pier. I cannot wait to be there with him again. And all is good, so very, very good.

That sounds lovely.....and right. So often it seems people focus so much on the "wedding" but never on the marriage.

Best of luck to you both.
