This is the image that hangs in my office and faces my desk. I LOVE that he is facing me and laughing. It reminds me of so many things, mostly that I'm human, loved and shouldn't take myself so seriously. Also, there is much to be joyful about in this life and I plan to laugh as much as I can.

For my friends, when you hear me say, "Shhh...Jesus is looking," this is what I'm referencing :)

Now this is a side of Jesus that everyone especially children and teenagers should be made aware of instead of only the hellfire and brimstone as is so common. I cannot imagine anyone credited with creating so many wonders, would be so very serious all the time. :)

Lots of people do indeed mistake me for Jesus. It's sort of a curse, because they're like "Hey Jesus, make me some wine." And I have to tell them that all I have for them is a deep bowl of hatred. It's sad to have to bring disappointment to so many.

I'm feeling romantic and day dreamy. The Center has been lovely today, nothing very difficult. Welcome after yesterday's challenges and Tuesday which even necessitated an emergency 911 call. (The funniest part of which was that after being directed to give the address of my emergency, the dispatcher called my name. I affirmed and she worried out, "What's the matter, baby?!" My sister was working dispatch. It was a lovely Mayberry moment.)

Anyway, to my day dreamy mood. I have been listening to Wuthering Heights on audio book and I want to never hit the stop button. The draw that Heathcliff and Catherine feel for one another is not on the conscious level. They need each other the way living things need oxygen and light. Catherine proclaims, "...he's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same."

My thoughts also turn, as they often do when I am musing around my day and sighing, to my dearly beloved Eliot and his words that are etched into the material of my soul. I know I have gushed on about this before, but in many ways, I live here. I don't think I have a friend who hasn't been drug by me through the streets of this poem.

The yellow fog that rubs its back upon the window-panes,

The yellow smoke that rubs its muzzle on the window-panes

Licked its tongue into the corners of the evening,

Lingered upon the pools that stand in drains,

Let fall upon its back the soot that falls from chimneys,

Slipped by the terrace, made a sudden leap,

And seeing that it was a soft October night,

Curled once about the house, and fell asleep.

My fantasy would be a profile designed around the images in Prufrock...his shabby town of sawdust floored restaurants and lonely men smoking pipes and leaning out of windows. Allusions of Hamlet's Polonius, tea, and mermaids..."and this and so much more."

Wistful me on an October afternoon, my body indoors, my mind everywhere else at once.

This is the last step. We're expecting to have them by about November 15. The cover art was designed specially for us. It depicts the Lakefront in my town. The bridge in the background is the Causeway. The little sheep in the front was based on a little guy that Stabb photographed in England. I could not be happier. What a great way to celebrate our 20th anniversary!

*I have removed the name of the Center because of board-directed stipulations about how our name can be used. My signature was also removed.

VampireWitch39 AKA "the rat."

You can read her journal all day long and never suspect what this woman is made of. She makes me want to be a better, more thoughtful person. I am from the south. I have lived in the New Orleans area all of my life. Southern women grow up learning about hospitality in a way that you yankee women can't begin to fathom. I'm not saying that yankee women aren't gracious, just...trust me on this...it's different.

Ok, that said, I have also learned that for some women, hospitality is an abundant gift that simply extends from their soul. I have further learned that I am not so gifted. VW simply IS. It is as much a part of what makes her a person as her heart and mind.

Behind the scenes, quiet as the most secretive little rat, she shares her gifts. Her generous, awe-inspiring gifts, unasked. When I was a little girl, I learned: "Real good is the good you do when nobody is looking."

I am so inspired by you, rat.

I want in on this Rat Fan club. PLLLEEEAAAASSSSEEEE!!!!! I agree with everything that has been said about Rat and Joli.

I am a true yankee, grew up in New York. I have lived in West Virginia....which I'm not sure can be truly considered Southern. As with every other southern soul that I have met, I felt no predjudice, like I did in WV. Southern ladies are truly gracious!!!

Everything about this is wonderful. The music and the video combine to make this an experience I feel as much as hear and see. It's an ache in my chest that is beautiful and profound.

Someone special shared it with me one evening and I wanted to have it here where I can play it any time I want.

What makes this powerful for me is less the concept of destruction and more the musical score and the production of this video with an eye to drama and beauty. For me, it is beautifully done and I can watch and listen over and over again.
