Vagina Awareness month has already passed and I barely had a chance to really focus on it that much. I'm quite disappointed by that... just far too busy. I had stretches of days I wasn't even able to log in here.

My apologies to all the neglected vaginas... bring me your vagina and I will do what I can to make it up to it....

Thank you for your understanding.

Your Vagina Facts of the Day

Did you know that if you get an upset stomach or headaches after taking your birth control pill, instead of taking it orally, you can take it vaginally. Studies have shown there are fewer negative side effects such as nausea, breast tenderness and headaches when taken vaginally.

If intercourse hurts, avoiding sex to rest your vagina might not be the best idea. If sex is uncomfortable due to vaginal dryness, use a water based lubricant, but soreness is often caused by not using your vagina enough. Like with anything, if you don't use it, you may lose it, so to keep your vagina healthy you should "exercise" it on a regular basis. If it has been a while, you might want to ease into penetration on your own before engaging in sexual activity with someone who may not understand or fully appreciate the discomfort you are experiencing.

Women that suffer migraines tend to have in increased sex drive just before the migraine strikes. Studies show that an orgasm during this time can ease or eliminate the discomfort of a migraine.

And these have been your vagina facts of the day!

Your Vagina Fact of the Day

Countless studies have shown that women that are better educated, more confident and that take the time to get to know themselves, have better, healthier sex lives and better orgasms.

I think of all the facts I could mention, this is one of the most important. Education, especially self-education is important to both genders when it comes to having a safe, healthy and satisfying sex life. Spend some time getting to know you. The more you know, the healthier you will be.

For men, a lot of this is obvious, but for many women, the social pressures regarding sex inhibit the experience. Women are often taught to feel bad about sex, that they shouldn't want it and in so many cultures, shouldn't enjoy it, makes the experience terribly limiting. Getting to know what feels good, how you respond to different stimulation and most importantly what you enjoy can empower you to a better and healthier sex life.

And that is your vagina fact of the day!

Your Vagina Fact of the Day

And since tomorrow is Mother's Day, I thought it would be appropriate to have a Mom themed Vagina Fact.

Although the vagina is relatively small, even during sexual arousal phases, it is designed to stretch about 200X it's normal size during childbirth. Men - think you're stretching her out with your penis? Unless your penis is 22-inches long and weight 7 and a half pounds, not likely! In fact, regular intercourse rarely ever causes any irreversible stretching of the vagina. The vagina is tough - it is meant to take it and will go right back into shape afterward.

Yes, it takes a lickin' and keeps on... ummm... doing other things, but ticking probably isn't one of those things.

However, natural childbirth does usually cause significant stretching that will negatively impact the elasticity of the vagina. Each subsequent birth will cause more, permanent stretching. Yes, that Duggar guy shouldn't be able to feel a thing during intercourse at this point....

So, consider this tomorrow as you honor your mom, and be sure to thank her for allowing you to irreversibly stretch her vagina.

And in June, apologize to your dad and ask him if he could ever forgive you...

And this has been your vagina fact of the day!

Just so you know, if you haven't figured it out, the vagina is not omnipotent and doesn't have it's own spermicidal secretions if the woman "knows it's wrong."

Your Vagina Fact of the Day

In terms of keeping your vagina clean, there are practically no good reasons to douche with anything but a little clean, warm water. The human vagina has its own chemistry, is its own bacterial environment and of course has been powered by evolution with its own built in cleaning process. Douching with chemicals and deodorants can wreak havoc with the vagina's own natural chemistry and lead to more issues such as bacterial and yeast infections.

Sorry, Lysol... your time to be used as a douche is LONG gone.

Also, douching after unprotected sex is not an effective form of birth control. Sperm can cover the distance from the exterior of the vagina to the cervical opening in less than 30 minutes. Douching can actually push sperm closer to or into the cervical opening, thus giving it an easier shot at fertilizing a waiting egg.

And this has been your vagina fact of the day!

You might want to add, for all the people who don't know this, that bubble baths using harmful soaps to a vagina's chemistry can cause UTIs.

As for yeast infections, women who are taking antibiotics should eat yogurt with live acidophilus cultures. ( I don't know if I spelled that right.) That way they don't end up with one.

Just random knowledge here. :P

Random fact of the day (that a surprisingly small number of women know) antibiotics contraindicate the Pill.

Taking antibiotics and the Pill at the same time will cause the birth control to fail, and it'll take a month or so to make them work as normal (if you stop taking the antibiotics.)

Your Vagina Fact of the Day

Squalene is a naturally occurring lubricant and moisturizer in vaginal secretions. It keeps the skin of the vagina soft, flexible, moist and of course, lubricated during intercourse.

Of course, squalene has been known for centuries for these properties and is also naturally occurring in shark livers as well as plant sources including a variety of vegetable oils, amaranth seed, rice bran, wheat germ, and olives.

Squalene is used in the creation of skin moisturizers and other cosmetics, and more recently been used in the production of vaccines as an immunologic adjuvant. It has long been know for it's health benefits and has been part of Mediterranean diets for centuries.

So men, you know how we talk about all those health benefits in semen? Well, time to go down town yourselves, because you can get just as many health benefits by giving back to the one you love. It all proves - health and having a healthy sex life is good for you!

And this has been your Vagina Fact of the Day!

Your Vagina Fact of the Day

The word Vagina comes from Latin and means literally, "A sheath for a sword."

Interpret what you will from that, but thankfully penises are not sharp, nor as long as swords.

But speaking of putting it in a sheath, condoms are a great way to help prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, however they are not 100%. An infected male can still pass on herpes, warts, lice and a number of other maladies through contact with infected areas around the penis not covered by the condom.

The best way to prevent sexually transmitted diseases: honest communication with your partner and get checked regularly if you're sexually active and not in a monogamous relationship where everything has already been checked out.

And this has been your vagina fact of the day!

Your Vagina Awareness Fact of the Day

Increasing evidence has shown that the infamous "G-Spot" in the vagina may be not a similar structure as the prostate in men as originally theorized, but rather the sensitive crura of the clitoris, where the nerves to the clitoris are channeled just beneath the urethra. Since the neurological pathways to the most sensitive part of the female genitalia pass through this region, recent studies have shown evidence that most vaginal orgasms might indeed be deep clitoral orgasms after all.

Female ejaculation caused in approximated 3% of women through the stimulation of this area has shown to include a milky substance secreted from the paraurethral glands inside the urethra and a mixture of urine. The more ejaculate that is released indicated a higher percentage of urine.

And this has been your Vagina fact of the day!

Welcome to Vagina Awareness Month

14:02 May 06 2012
Times Read: 1,215

It is Vagina Awareness month - otherwise known as VajayMay. This month we will be considering all the wonders of that happy valley so many of us love to love.

Such as, did you know the clitoris has 8000 nerve endings, compared to 4000 in the penis. Think sex isn't about pleasure for women? Think again.

And did you know the average human vagina is between 3 and 4 inches in depth, but can expand over 200% when a woman is sexually aroused. So for all you self proclaimed studs that think you can destroy a vagina with your penis... yeah, right. Good luck with that.

All month (when I have time) I will be discussing the wonders of the female genitalia.

Maybe I need more than a month....

And I'm of the school of thought that those issues are 99% psychological and 1% physical. In general, the mind games played on women regarding sex by man and society in general.

I wonder if there are any societies where it is customary for women to take the lead and where their pleasure is first and foremost.

I would like to study a society like that and the differences in our own society.

Morrigon

Well... According to the Kama Sutra, it is important for a woman to experience orgasm, not only for conception reasons but to encourage her to continue wanting intimacy. But still, when you compare it to the other sexist roles the book forces women in to, you can really assume that it's a way to keep a female manageable.

Our society obviously has hangups about women having sex (calling Sandra Fluke a slut) but women have a bit more room to explore the world of actually enjoying sex. We're all still trying to break free of the tyrannical shackles of religious "morality" regarding sex.

God made us in his image, and everything for a purpose - be fruitful and multiply.... BUT sex is a SIN. Shameful, horrible, unforgivable without baptism and confession and you're going to HELL for wanting it... ok, enjoy life. Be sure to worship me on Sundays and don't eat meat on Friday.

WTF religion?? W. T. F?

We will never really have any equality until we get past all of the mixed messages the religions of the world throw at us.
