Maybe my alarm would have woke me this morning if I remembered to change the ringer back off of silent....

...Stabbing Westward blarring in the quiet of the morning barely wakes me, I'm sure my phone pathetically vibrating a little on my desk isn't going to do the trick...

You know what, get the "We were dead before the ship even sank." by Modest Mouse. The first track will wake you and possibly scare the hell out of you the first few times.

My slide show...

...I put the "slide show" screensaver on my entertainment PC in my office... now I see a slide show of some of my favorite photographs that I have taken. Once in a while I glance up at it and it reminds me of the trip I was on, or the fun I had taking those pictures...

...reflections on the last year.

Maybe I shouldn't think about it quite so much...

Why is this?

22:54 Nov 24 2008

When a certain someone met with these new recruits for FIVE HOURS last Wednesday and still, they knew practically nothing when we started training today.

They didn't know how to file an expense report, at all. Not a clue. They weren't even given the spreadsheet.

A time sheet... they didn't even know they had to fill one out every week!

They were only being taught administrative procedures - which would include these things. Yet, they said it was the first time they were seeing it.

They were shown NOTHING technical, at all.

"We were pressed for time..." was the reason.

WHAT??? FIVE HOURS to cover things that took me less than an hour to cover today? Pressed for time????

That is pathetic. Now I have to cover three years worth of the technology in two days, PLUS I have to cover everything someone else didn't have time for.

FEH.

Certain someone ?? Hmmmm you mean Brad don't you

Tell them 'you have to fill in one of these timesheets for each week you work for the company'

Then hand them 5 pre-numbered timesheets, starting with 5 and counting down

Everything is of consequence...

19:41 Nov 14 2008
Times Read: 1,392

...the circumstances of my life recently have caused me to slip back into a mode of depression. I’m feeling very negatively about myself, my life and my direction. I feel like I will never really find my true happiness.

Maybe it’s all a lie. Maybe there is no true happiness out there for me. Maybe as a function of who I am simply not meant to be happy.

That is still out there to discover though and I’m working on staving off the demons of the past while I search the world around me and within myself.

So until I fix my life and get back to being the person I want to be I apologize to my friends if I haven’t been a very good friend to them lately. And I hope my friends can tolerate my moods, depression, flaws and shortcomings with a little patience, love and faith – and for them I will do the same when they require it of me.

This is awesome...

20:25 Nov 08 2008
Times Read: 1,459

...I used to know the formal psychological principle behind this, but I think this question and answer thread says a lot...

Why do boys around high school age pick on girls they like?

EXAMPLE: This kid kept picking on me in gym class for about a week because I really suck at football. He bothered me the whole week nonstop, and then the next week, HE ASKED ME OUT. He was serious. WHY?

This is not the first time, either. When will boys learn that this doesn't make girls like them. It makes girls want to slaughter them. (And YES, I know not ALL boys are like this.)

Answers:

Young boys are intimidated by girls because they seem more poised - because they are. Girls mature socially before boys do. So the boys your age are in some ways like little kids.

Yes, not ALL boys do that.

If you don't like it, tell them. If they keep bugging you, report them to someone.

You have to take the bad with the good. If you want to get to know the guy and the only way he can approach you is to tease you, learn to live with it.

Or approach a quiet guy quietly. He could be a real prize.

Why do they do it? They're kids! They don't know how to act around girls yet.

--=-=-=-=-=-

I don't mean to make you pessimistic but guys never stop doing this. For some reason when we're around a girl we like it's a lot easier to make fun of them then to be nice to them, and we just hope they find it flirty instead of too mean. Maybe it stops when we turn 30 or something, but I doubt it.

-=-=-=-=-=-=

its because they want to hide that they actually like you by acting like they don't even like you and plus its just a way of getting attention from you by any means necessary

-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The guys that do that are stuck in the 'elementary school' mentality

-==-=-=-=-=-=-

because he is immature, almost all guys are like that. Guys have a really weird / dumb way of showing a girl tht he likes her.

....I think we get the point here, don't we?

Some guys just... never grow up.

Hmmm. Well consider this. Girls never grow up either. They still play the same hard to get games they did in primary school to get us to chase them. They still wear make up and dress provocatively to get in the right pecking order from each other to do what? Attract men. It is not a matter of growing up per se, IMO, it is a matter of human mating ritual. Some folks do evolve it to the level of being cavalier (read James Bond) and they get the girls. Why? Security. It is the single greatest factor in female attraction factor between men and women, IMO. Guys wanna feel strong and needed and girls wanna feel sexy and secure. On the basis of that you can attract anyone. Sorry if this hijacks your journal, it is not my intent. Feel free to delete.

IMO some men are douchebags and some women are empty headed sluts.

I don't want to play hard to get. I want to hang out and have fun, if I fall in love with someone, I've fallen in love with someone. Putting too much thought into it is pointless.

If you're going to be an asshole, we'll see you as such.

There really is an endless argument here. I don't think this is a general all true statement, just a reminder to those who just don't want to let it go.

You could say that women wear makeup because men have pressured them to do so by making them believe that they won't be attractive without it.

Each person is their own, Birra never said that all men never grow up, so why should you say that all women never grow up?

Morri, true enough. I never said all women though, just girls. As in the ones not enlightened or secure in themselves.

Looking back on my comment, I retract the last statement. I think I was implying women...sorry. And I will likewise concede that this is something with much circular logic.

02:45 Nov 09 2008

I don't think it's circular logic, I think there is no generalization that can be made for either gender.

All I was pointing out was, regardless of the action the intent could be the complete opposite of the message sent.

Or, maybe not. The intent could be exactly what the message is.

Food for thought.
