Stabb and I took a little vacation. We are in a cabin high in the Smoky Mountains. I have grown addicted to the air. I can't breathe enough of it!

It's about 60 degrees and the weather has been good. We have two hot tubs...who needs two hot tubs?! One is outside and one inside. We skinny dipped in the one outside this morning after Stabb fixed a delicious breakfast.

This afternoon, we went to the National Park and hiked up to a waterfall. It was beautiful. I video'd it so that I can look at it and relax when I'm back in the real world. We even saw 4 bears in the wild! Hoping my pics come out. We walked through the town, had dinner, and visited a few shops. I'm excited about the 2 wines we bought.

Tomorrow we're going to the Cherokee Reservation and then to visit artisan shops. I'm on a quest for just the right piece of art and a handmade quilt.

We played pool when we got back to the cabin and now, I'm beating him at Scrabble! I think we may have to give that chilly skinny dip another try when we're done.

I'll post pics later. (NOT of the skinny dipping, though!)

Just back from my first French Immersion class. I have two weeks to read and prepare an oral presentation on George Sand's La Mare Au Diable. I am so psyched. The teacher and students can only speak french in class, and I did just fine. My friend, Margaret, is taking the class with me, so it's extra fun!

That sounds wonderful! I'd love to take a French Immersion class. I'm going to be studying on my own, as my son also has a great interest in French. I want to be able to help him as he learns.

I've been studying french for a long time and I can read it very comfortably and I can write fairly well, but listening and responding conversationally is still beyond my comfort level.

I can communicate, but I am too slow and I stop and go too much. A huge part of the problem is the fear of saying something wrong. I'm hoping this class lets me relax, make mistakes, and practice in an encouraging environment.

Images, have fun learning along with your son! There are so many wonderful programs and web site supports that weren't there when I began learning. You're in for a wonderful journey.

Your French is like my Spanish- I can understand it completely verbally and in writing- but I sometimes have a hard time always remembering things off the top of my head to communicate back. It would have been easier for me to work with him in Spanish, but he has more of an interest in French- and it's our history, here... so I very much support him in learning it.

I know that you have busy lives and some of you have even had life-changing circumstances lately. I'm not even going to be all pokin-in-your-chest-write-in-your-journal demanding like I usually am.

I just miss you all...your words, your uniquely sideways glances at the world around you. I crave the pictures you paint and the smiles you tease forward.

I hope you are all well and that it won't be so very long before I hear from you again. Be safe and be happy. Keep your eyes looking round for that long-anticipated day when I will hungrily read you all up again!
