Sadly, my real name has no translation into Chinese. That is so true, the artist who did my tat told me he had a girl come in to get "sassy bitch" in Chinese characters. He said he tried to explain to her that that exact phrase didn't exist in Chinese and the closest he could do would actually mean "disobedient female dog" but she wouldn't listen.

Not until considering this did I realize the number of your poems that are 25 - 31 lines in length. And as I tried to find a favorite, I found that no such thing can exist among the bits of you so carefully weighed and offered. Poetry is such a personal thing, touching each with a different hand, the tracing of a finger or the tip of a lusty tongue. In each a part of the observer as crafted and guided by the teasing of the word-smith. So the best I can offer is a list which is but a slight reduction from the shear number and value you offer.

Projection Psychology -

"defense mechanism ( in defense mechanism )

Projection is a form of defense in which unwanted feelings are displaced onto another person, where they then appear as a threat from the external world. A common form of projection occurs when an individual, threatened by his own angry feelings, accuses another of harbouring hostile thoughts.

Pillow thoughts from your Auntie Jo

A little boy and a little girl are each given a bag of marbles. Oh, how the little boy eyes the girl's marble bag. He thinks to himself all the reasons why they should also be his. While she sleeps, he sneaks into her room and spirits off with his treasure. He hides both bags under his pillow and lies awake all night with the adrenaline of his action. He imagines how the girl will come in and try to take back not only her bag, but his as well. He cannot fall asleep for he must stay awake to guard the marbles lest they be stolen away sneakily while he sleeps.

The little girl sleeps like an angel.

Catching up on the joy of reading

22:46 Oct 05 2008
Times Read: 1,495

Stabb and I have been talking about Crime and Punishment. The discussions have been in depth and really thought-provoking. He is just finishing the book. I read it when I was very young...the summer after eighth grade. Having an adult and an adolescent perspective has made me revisit what that book meant to me.

Because I was young and American, the themes in the book were VERY heavy and dark. It was the first book I had read that took an existential look at man and how he views himself and his place in the world. I watched as Raskolnikov became spiritually and physically sick. I WORE that book for years after I read it. In many ways, I still do. I recall vividly the man who beat his horse while others looked on. It was surreal and deeply disturbing to my young self.

I will never forget it. In short, it was a great book that made me think differently. Last summer, I tried to read The Brothers Karamazov. It is also by Dostoevsky. My father referenced this book my whole life and I REALLY wanted to read it. I have rarely had to force myself to get through a book like I did with this one. I absolutely slogged through and eventually, I set it aside. Maybe one day I'll feel the need to visit that bizarre family again when I have time and great will.

For now, we're going to have a fun read. We're going to check out some sci-fi. We're going to read the Way series by Greg Bear. The first one is called Eon. It is an older trilogy that's considered sci-fi classic now. I'm excited and can't wait to get started! We'll probably be talking about them a good bit, so if you want to pick up a copy and join us, please come on!
