If it's super dark you'll probably need to bleach it 3-4 times depending on how light you want it. But you shouldn't bleach it over, and over all at once or it'll totally fry your hair. Try spacing out each session, and see how your hair takes it. Also, if you're going for a really light color, like blonde or pastels, getting a good purple toner will help you a lot to take the yellow brassiness our of your hair. Or if it's super orangey, blue toner is better, just depends. You can also try bleach bathing once you've gone down a few levels of color. It's not as intense as straight bleaching it, and it lifts less color, but it's gentler on hair.
