Roll on the weekend!

My Son has been discharged from the hospital with all his meds and all is looking fine apart from the lack of sleep I have endured. He’s back to being a moody eight year old and I’m back to being the trampled on adult!

Last night wasn’t too bad and I managed to get online for a short while. Though this dam phone of mine logs me out in the end because of IP issues and the downloaded browsers don’t appear to work for some reason.

In time I hope to get another new contract for my phone.

Last night I took my Son to the hospital after an awful Sunday night with little to no sleep for the both of us. He was wheezing and finding it hard to breath which I thought was just part of his cold. I let him stay home from school on Monday and arranged to see the Doctor in the afternoon (an emergency appointment) the doctor told me that my Son had suspected Pneumonia so I had to take him to the hospital last night and we arrived at 1800hrs.

It was an hour before a nurse took his stats, two hours before he had his chest X-ray and 2200 when the doctor came around to ask us questions and check his stats again. He then gave him some steroids and antibiotics. We were then told that we had to wait until the registra turned up to let us know if he was going to be staying in for the night. I left at 2320hrs and the registra turned up at 2358. Mrs Ban was staying with him and I told her if they attempted to discharge him to tell them it would be too late and that he would have to stay through the night.

Now it looks like he will be kept in another night although they may send him home and tonight I will stay with him if they keep him in another night.

It was horrible on the ward last night with children screaming and crying and the thought of me staying tonight is sending shivers down my spine, I wonder if they will let me use their computer so I can go on the Rave....Hmmm

Oh hey, hope your son is going to be ok.

Hospitals...waiting to be seen...pah its ridiculous to make a child with breathing problems wait, and to have to wait even longer to find out if he would be admitted overnight must have pretty stressful for your son and you.

Decision making

אז היום פשוט כל יום אחר? אני שואל את עצמי שאלה הזאת כי יש לי החלטות כפולות לעשות בקשר לכיוון אני רוצה את החיים שלי להוביל.

I feel stagnant and betrayed by my employer at the moment and although the job I do is difficult it is also easy because for 6-7 hours of the night I am totally on my own. What makes the job hard is because of the lack of team work when I am with others and actual care which is practically nonexistent.

Do I stay in a job that pays very poor money working longer hours in the night doing a job I don’t really like!

Do I stick with them and carry on with all the training which will be for another four/five years and still has no guarantee that I will be fully employable when I branch out because of my age and lack of experience even when I am fully qualified! Although I would earn much more money!

Do I start driving lorries again on nights and earn much better money but

possibly put my health at risk because of my DVT and end up with little qualifications

Do I find a job in a warehouse where I am able to work nights on a permanent shift system. This would be until the beasts are old enough to go to school and home on their own! Not sure what the money would be but the hours would be shorter! This would/could also put my health at risk because of lifting involved!

The job that you're in at the moment sounds as if although you want the training, you perhaps are being undervalued for your efforts. Do you really want to put up with that? Will you really feel its been worth it when you are fully qualified if the situation carries on?

Do you really want to risk your health for a wage? Where would taking health risks leave you as regards the future of the 'beasts' ?

Its not going to be an easy decision to make, but its one you have to decide for yourself. I cant help thinking though, that you seem capable of many diferent types of job/career, perhaps you do yourself a diservice by limiting your scope, the sky after all, is the limit.

I wish you well in this, and if you need a friendly ear, you know where I am.

In 1967, the world was a different place.

There was no Google yet. Or Yahoo.

In 1967, the year of your birth, the top selling movie was The Jungle Book. People buying the popcorn in the cinema lobby had glazing eyes when looking at the poster.

Photobucket

Remember, that was before there were DVDs. Heck, even before there was VHS. People were indeed watching movies in the cinema, and not downloading them online. Imagine the packed seats, the laughter, the excitement, the novelty. And mostly all of that without 3D computer effects.

Do you know who won the Oscars that year? The academy award for the best movie went to In the Heat of the Night. The Oscar for best foreign movie that year went to Closely Watched Trains. The top actor was Rod Steiger for his role as Police Chief Bill Gillespie in In the Heat of the Night. The top actress was Katharine Hepburn for her role as Christina Drayton in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. The best director? Mike Nichols for The Graduate.

In the year 1967, the time when you arrived on this planet, books were still popularly read on paper, not on digital devices. Trees were felled to get the word out. The number one US bestseller of the time was The Arrangement by Elia Kazan. Oh, that's many years ago. Have you read that book? Have you heard of it?

In 1967... The Doors' self-titled debut album is released. The New York Times reports that the U.S. Army is conducting secret germ warfare experiments. Segregationist Lester Maddox is sworn in as Governor of Georgia. The Parliament of the United Kingdom decides to nationalize 90% of the British steel industry. The United States, Soviet Union and United Kingdom sign the Outer Space Treaty. The Chinese government announces that it can no longer guarantee the safety of Soviet diplomats outside the Soviet Embassy building. A Soviet nuclear test is conducted at the Semipalatinsk Test Site, Eastern Kazakhstan. Pope Paul VI issues the encyclical Populorum Progressio. The Surveyor 3 probe lands on the Moon. Montreal, Quebec, Expo 67, a World's Fair to coincide with the Canadian Confederation centennial, officially opens with Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson igniting the Expo Flame in the Place des Nations. Elvis Presley and Priscilla Beaulieu are married in Las Vegas. The Greek military government accuses Andreas Papandreou of treason.

That was the world you were born into. Since then, you and others have changed it.

The Nobel prize for Literature that year went to Miguel Ángel Asturias. The Nobel prize for physics went to Hans Albrecht Bethe from the United States for his contributions to the theory of nuclear reactions, especially his discoveries concerning the energy production in stars. The sensation this created was big. But it didn't stop the planets from spinning, on and on, year by year. Years in which you would grow bigger, older, smarter, and, if you were lucky, sometimes wiser. Years in which you also lost some things. Possessions got misplaced. Memories faded. Friends parted ways. The best friends, you tried to hold on. This is what counts in life, isn't it?

The 1960s were indeed a special decade. The Swinging Sixties saw the rise of counterculture. There was recreational drug use and casual sex. Many countries gained independence from their colonial rulers. Several governments turned to the left. In Britain, the Labour Party gains power. The Vietnam War continues. The Algerian War comes to a close. In the US, Hispanics fight to end racial discrimination and socioeconomic disparity. Feminism keeps rising. Art House films make it to theaters. The Beatles, Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones play their music. The US and Soviet Union come close to a military confrontation during the Cuba missile crisis. Nixon becomes US president. Man lands on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission of the United States. The first heart transplantation occurs. The first computer game, Spacewar, is created.

Do you remember the movie that was all the rage when you were 15? 48 Hrs.. Do you still remember the songs playing on the radio when you were 15? Maybe it was Ebony and Ivory by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder. Were you in love? Who were you in love with, do you remember?

In 1967, 15 years earlier, a long time ago, the year when you were born, the song Ode to Billie Joe by Bobbie Gentry topped the US charts. Do you know the lyrics? Do you know the tune? Sing along.

It was the third of June, another sleepy, dusty Delta day

I was out choppin' cotton and my brother was balin' hay

And at dinner time we stopped and walked back to the house to eat

And Mama hollered out the back door "y'all remember to wipe your feet"

...

There's a kid outside, shouting, playing. It doesn't care about time. It doesn't know about time. It shouts and it plays and thinks time is forever. You were once that kid.

When you were 9, the movie Freaky Friday was playing. When you were 8, there was The Apple Dumpling Gang. When you were 7, there was a Disney movie out called Robin Hood. Does this ring a bell?

Photobucket

6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... it's 1967. There's TV noise coming from the second floor. Someone turned up the volume way too high. The sun is burning from above. These were different times. The show playing on TV is The Honeymooners. The sun goes down. Someone switches channels. There's The Beverly Hillbillies on now. That's the world you were born in.

Progress, year after year. Do you wonder where the world is heading towards? The technology available today would have blown your mind in 1967. Do you know what was invented in the year you were born? The Automatic Teller Machine. Hypertext. The Quartz Wristwatch.

Alright I took you to a Hendrix concert

On the seventh day of May

And through the summer of 1967

We were part of the seeds of change

...

That's from the song You Don't Even Know Me by Al Stewart.

In 1967, a new character entered the world of comic books: Mr. Natural. Bang! Boom! But that's just fiction, right? In the real world, in 1967, Anna Nicole Smith was born. And Kurt Cobain. Julia Roberts, too. And you, of course. Everyone an individual. Everyone special. Everyone taking a different path through life.

It's 2010.

The world is a different place.

What path have you taken?

I love you Rave. I love the people, the journals, and reading about the drama ^^

I am torn between the Rave and study. I have exams and need as much time as possible again to get my grade. Pass rate is 75% so I am led to believe. I also have my NVQ to train for at work which is going to take up quiet alot of time!

My stats on here may not budge for a while again while all this is going on but I will still get online.

God I really need to get a life lol. Wish I was a Vampire I could live forever and time wouldn't matter!
