This day. OHMYGODTHISDAY. You'd be hard pressed to find someone more easygoing than me who doesn't eat ganja brownies for breakfast, but holy crap.

Where did they all come from?! Every one of these people has been SO difficult to help today.

From the guy living in McDonald's (yes, you heard me) who wants us to buy him a bus ticket to go home to another state, but is mad at us because he has too many belongings to make it to the bus station without us also getting him a taxi...to the couple who are VERY comfortable receiving stuff from anyone. They were put up in a campground by a church for 2 months and while working, they saved NOTHING, but had cable in their camper for $40 a month...and now want us to pay for a motel, clothes for all of them, food, and gas.

It's been "Take care of EVERYTHING for me" day. Is the moon full? It's gotta be.

Dude #1 - "We are a component of help, not the whole enchalada. Your bus ticket is purchased. Present your I.D. one hour before the trip. Here is food to keep you sustained. As to your bags of clothes...prioritize. You have family and hope waiting for you at home. If those bags are a burden, give them away. It's just stuff."

Couple - You have two precious kids. What the HELL are you thinking? What are you teaching them? What is going on here that you're not telling us? How can you be working, have everyone else paying your expenses, and you have nothing to show for it? Stop keeping your kids out of school. Stop expecting everyone to carry you. We are willing to lend you a hand, but YOU have a role to play in the life that is YOURS!

My eyes hurt.

The work you do is just full of so much hope. Sure you get these cases (frankly I'm amazed there aren't more) but it takes just one case, ONE case where they appreciate the efforts and move on ... that's when you know the system works, that it has given hope to one person or family. There is so much good in the world and you are part of that.

Oh, absolutely. In every job, you have tough days. Today was just filled with people who are hard to help because they want what they want...which isn't necessarily what they need.
