Chapter Two – The Child of Moonwood

02:11 Jul 09 2026
Times Read: 71

Years passed, and the nameless orphan the White Wolves had called Gabriella grew strong.

She was neither the largest pup nor the fastest.

Other young wolves could outrun her across the snow, climb rocky cliffs more quickly, and wrestle with greater strength.

Yet whenever another pup became frightened, they searched for Gabriella.

Whenever one was injured, they cried for Gabriella.

Whenever someone felt alone, they sat beside Gabriella.

She never understood why.

She simply listened.

The old Alpha often watched from a distance.

"Strength wins battles," one of the elders told him.

The Alpha shook his head.

"But kindness keeps a kingdom alive."

As winter melted into spring, Gabriella wandered farther into Moonwood than any young wolf was permitted to go.

She never went searching for adventure.

She simply followed the songs of birds and the whisper of streams.

One afternoon she found a raven with a broken wing tangled among thorny vines.

The raven snapped its beak in fear.

"It is all right," Gabriella whispered.

"I won't hurt you."

Patiently she bit through each thorn without scratching the frightened bird.

When the last vine fell away, the raven spread its wings.

Though one remained injured, it bowed its head before flying awkwardly into the trees.

The next morning dozens of ravens circled above Moonwood.

Instead of stealing food, they dropped bright blue berries before the wolves.

The elders smiled.

"The forest remembers kindness."

From that day onward the ravens became silent guardians of Gabriella.

Wherever she walked, one could usually be found watching from above.

Months later she discovered a frightened fawn trapped beneath a fallen tree.

Its mother had not abandoned it.

She simply could not lift the heavy trunk.

Gabriella called for help.

Instead of hunting, the wolves worked together until the tree rolled aside.

The doe stepped between the wolves and her fawn.

Instead of fleeing...

she gently touched her nose to Gabriella's.

No one had ever seen such a thing.

Even the oldest wolves stared in amazement.

Little by little, the creatures of Moonwood stopped fearing Gabriella.

Foxes greeted her.

Owls perched beside her.

Bears shared quiet streams without growling.

It was as though the forest itself knew something the wolves did not.

One evening Gabriella climbed the tallest hill beneath a full moon.

She stared at the silver crescent reflected in the lake below.

"I still don't know who I am," she whispered.

The wind answered.

Not with words.

With warmth.

The crescent upon her forehead shimmered.

Far away, unseen by mortal eyes, something ancient awakened beneath the stars.

Something had begun to notice the child with the Moon's Mark.

And for the first time in centuries...

darkness opened its eyes.

Chapter One – The Nameless Pup

02:10 Jul 09 2026
Times Read: 72

Long before kingdoms raised their banners and before castles crowned the mountains, there was an ancient wilderness where the trees touched the clouds and rivers sang beneath the moonlight.

The creatures of that forest spoke of one sacred place in hushed voices.

The Moonwood.

It was there that the White Wolves lived.

They were unlike any wolves the world had ever known. Their fur shimmered like fresh snow beneath the stars, their eyes reflected the changing seasons, and they served as guardians of the balance between life and death. They hunted only what they needed, protected the weak, and bowed to no king or queen.

They answered only to the Moon.

One winter, during the longest and coldest night anyone could remember, the pack heard an unfamiliar cry echo through the forest.

It was not the howl of a wolf.

Nor the call of any creature they recognized.

The old Alpha followed the sound deep into the snow until he reached a clearing bathed in pale moonlight.

There, lying alone upon a bed of untouched snow, was a tiny white wolf pup.

No tracks led to her.

No scent of parents lingered nearby.

No den could be found.

It was as though the night itself had placed her there.

The Alpha stepped closer.

The little pup looked up without fear.

Then the moonlight caught her forehead.

A delicate silver crescent gleamed within her fur.

The Moon's Mark.

The Alpha drew in a slow breath.

"It cannot be..."

The elders soon gathered around the pup.

Some whispered that she had been abandoned.

Others believed she had been orphaned by tragedy.

A few wondered if she had fallen from the stars themselves.

But no one knew.

She had no family.

No name.

No past.

Only the silver crescent that shone brighter whenever the moon was full.

The oldest elder lowered her head.

"If the Moon has hidden her beginning, then it is not for us to uncover."

Another elder nodded.

"She belongs with us now."

The Alpha smiled gently at the frightened little pup.

"Every child deserves a name."

After a long silence, he spoke the one that settled over every heart.

"Gabriella."

The pack repeated it softly.

"Gabriella."

The tiny pup tilted her head as though hearing the word for the first time.

Then her tail gave the smallest wag.

The wolves laughed.

From that night forward, she was Gabriella.

Not because it had been her birth name.

But because it was the name given by the family who chose to love her.

She grew surrounded by the White Wolves, though she never looked quite like the others.

She listened more than she spoke.

She comforted frightened pups before comforting herself.

If another wolf was hungry, she quietly offered part of her own meal.

If two wolves argued, she was always the first to stand between them, not with anger, but with kindness.

Even the forest noticed.

Birds perched beside her without fear.

Foxes wandered close.

Old bears greeted her with respectful nods.

Deer that fled from every other wolf sometimes stood perfectly still when Gabriella passed.

The Alpha watched these things in silence.

One evening he found her sitting alone beneath the full moon, staring into the sky.

"Do you wonder where you came from?" he asked.

Gabriella lowered her ears.

"Sometimes."

"Do you think my parents are still alive?"

The Alpha looked toward the stars before answering.

"I do not know."

She nodded quietly.

"I wish I knew my real name."

The Alpha smiled warmly.

"The name given by love is every bit as real as the name given at birth."

She leaned against his shoulder.

For the first time in many nights, she smiled.

As the moon climbed higher, its silver light rested upon the crescent on Gabriella's forehead.

The mark began to glow.

Not brightly.

Just enough for the Alpha to notice.

A feeling settled deep within his heart.

Not fear.

Not joy.

Something older.

Something sacred.

He looked toward the heavens and whispered words no one else heard.

"You were never abandoned."

"You were sent."

Far above, hidden beyond the stars, the Moon seemed to shine just a little brighter.

And though neither Gabriella nor the White Wolves knew it yet, the nameless orphan found in the snow would one day become the greatest Queen the forest had ever known—not because she sought a throne, but because she would willingly carry the burdens no one else could bear.

Finale Chapter 14 – The Last Dawn

02:05 Jul 09 2026
Times Read: 74

The monastery bells rang until the mountains themselves seemed to tremble.

The silent figures reached the ancient stone steps together.

Hundreds.

Then thousands.

Each wore a weathered gray cloak, their faces hidden beneath deep hoods. They moved without haste, without fear, without sound.

Eleanor accepted the black sword.

The moment her fingers wrapped around the hilt, the silver runes ignited.

The mountain shook violently.

A surge of memories burst through her mind.

Not her own.

The memories of every Guardian who had carried the blade before her.

Thousands of years.

Countless wars.

Countless sacrifices.

Then she saw them.

The First Rulers.

They had once shaped mountains with their voices and called stars from empty skies. But power had twisted them. They hungered to consume every world beyond their own. They became known as the Sky Eaters, devouring light itself until the heavens darkened.

Unable to destroy them, humanity's greatest kings, mages, and saints joined together to imprison them beyond the Veil.

One bloodline had remained behind.

A single family.

The Wardens.

Her family.

The pendant around Eleanor's neck had never been a gift.

It had been the final key.

And she was the last Warden.

The cloaked strangers reached the monastery gates.

They stopped.

Every hood lowered.

Beneath them were faces of stone, cracked with glowing crimson light.

Not living.

Not dead.

The Watchers.

Ancient guardians waiting for the final command.

They knelt.

Not before Lucien.

Not before the stranger.

Before Eleanor.

"You have returned," they spoke as one.

The sky split open.

Above the monastery, darkness tore like cloth.

Immense shapes descended through the wound between worlds.

Eyes larger than castles opened among the clouds.

The stars vanished.

The First Rulers had come.

Their voices echoed inside every living mind.

"Open the Gate."

"Return what belongs to us."

The stranger stood beside Eleanor.

"My true name is Kael."

"I failed to stop them once."

"I will not fail again."

Lucien raised his sword.

Matthias whispered the oldest prayers.

Cassian smiled despite the terror.

"Then let's give them one last fight."

The battle began.

The mountains erupted with light.

Watchers clashed against creatures of living shadow.

Runes blazed across the stone.

The monastery collapsed around them.

Kael fought like a storm, his black blade carving through impossible beasts.

Lucien stood beside him until the end, refusing to retreat even after terrible wounds covered his armor.

Matthias gave his life sealing one of the great rifts.

Cassian held the eastern gate alone until the mountain itself buried him beneath falling stone.

Still the Sky Eaters came.

There were too many.

Eleanor looked toward the crimson wound spreading across the heavens.

She finally understood.

The prison could not simply be closed.

Someone had to become its seal.

Forever.

Kael saw the realization in her eyes.

"There has to be another way."

"There isn't," she whispered.

He stepped toward her.

"I won't lose you."

She smiled through tears.

"You never truly had me."

She kissed his forehead.

Then turned toward the Gate.

The pendant shattered into countless pieces of white light.

Every fragment rose into the sky.

The black sword dissolved into silver fire.

Eleanor walked alone toward the opening between worlds.

The Sky Eaters reached for her.

She reached back.

Light exploded across the heavens.

Brighter than the sun.

Brighter than creation itself.

The mountains disappeared beneath endless white.

Silence followed.

...

When the light faded...

The stars had returned.

The crimson fracture was gone.

The Gate had vanished.

Only ruins remained where the monastery had stood.

Kael awoke beneath broken stone.

Lucien helped him stand.

Neither spoke.

They already knew.

Eleanor was gone.

Not dead.

Beyond the Veil.

The eternal Warden.

Years passed.

The world healed.

Kingdoms rebuilt.

The story of the monastery became legend.

Most believed it was only a myth.

But every generation, when the night sky was perfectly clear, travelers spoke of a young woman standing among the stars.

A silver pendant glowed around her neck.

A black wolf rested beside her.

Watching.

Waiting.

Guarding the Gate.

Far beyond mortal sight, Eleanor smiled as dawn rose over the worlds she had saved.

The stars no longer feared the Sky Eaters.

Because someone stood between them.

Forever.

The End

Chapter 13 – The Sky Eaters

22:59 Jul 07 2026
Times Read: 110

Glass continued to rain across the sanctuary.

No one moved.

Every eye was fixed on the heavens.

The stars weren't fading.

They were being hidden.

Something impossibly large drifted across the night sky, blotting out entire constellations without a sound.

A chill settled over the monastery.

Not the cold of winter.

The cold of something ancient returning.

The stranger's voice was barely above a whisper.

"They've crossed the Veil."

Lucien's face hardened.

"How much time do we have?"

The stranger didn't answer immediately.

He closed his eyes, as if listening to the mountain itself.

"Not enough."

Another tremor shook the sanctuary.

The crimson fissure widened.

This time, it didn't stop at the center of the floor.

The crack spread through the walls, climbing the pillars and reaching the ceiling like veins of molten light.

Eleanor felt her pendant pulse against her chest.

Once.

Twice.

Then it became still.

The stranger looked at her.

"They know you're here."

"Who are they?" Eleanor asked.

His crimson eyes met hers.

"The first rulers."

"The ones history erased."

Matthias stepped forward.

"I thought they had all perished."

"They didn't perish," the stranger replied.

"They were sealed away."

Cassian's voice was low.

"And now the seal is broken."

The stranger nodded.

"Not by accident."

Silence swept through the monastery.

Every face turned toward Eleanor.

She felt the weight of their stares.

"I didn't do this," she said quietly.

"I know," the stranger replied.

"But someone wanted you to be here when it happened."

Before Eleanor could respond—

A bell rang.

One deep, haunting toll.

Then another.

Then dozens more.

Not from the monastery.

From every direction.

The sound rolled across the mountains, echoing through the valleys below.

Lucien's expression darkened.

"The Watchers."

The stranger's jaw tightened.

"They've awakened."

Outside, shadows began to move across the mountainside.

Hundreds of them.

Silent figures climbing toward the monastery in perfect unison.

None carried torches.

None spoke.

They simply climbed.

Toward Eleanor.

The stranger drew a long, black blade from beneath his cloak.

Its edge shimmered with silver runes.

"For centuries," he said, never taking his eyes off the approaching figures, "this monastery guarded a prison."

He turned the sword in his hand and offered its hilt to Eleanor.

"But tonight..."

"It becomes a battlefield."

Chapter 12 – The Ascension

22:57 Jul 07 2026
Times Read: 112

The footsteps continued.

One.

Then another.

Each step echoed through the mountain like a drumbeat from another age.

No one breathed.

The silver symbols along the staircase glowed brighter with every approaching footfall.

Eleanor stood at the edge of the abyss, unable to move.

Not because of fear.

Because something inside her refused to run.

The presence below felt... familiar.

Cassian took a cautious step backward.

"I've heard stories," he whispered. "I never believed them."

Lucien's eyes remained fixed on the staircase.

"They weren't stories."

"They were warnings."

The footsteps stopped.

Silence.

Then a voice rose from the darkness.

Deep.

Calm.

Timeless.

"You've grown since I last saw the sky."

The words weren't spoken loudly.

Yet every stone in the monastery seemed to carry them.

A figure emerged from the crimson light.

He wore a long black cloak, worn with age but untouched by dust.

His silver hair fell to his shoulders.

His eyes...

The same crimson eyes Eleanor had seen in the abyss.

He appeared neither young nor old.

He looked like someone who had simply... existed.

He climbed the final step and stood before them.

Every vampire lowered their head.

Even Cassian.

Even Lucien.

Matthias bowed deeper than either of them.

The stranger's gaze passed over them without a word.

Then it settled on Eleanor.

For a long moment, he simply looked at her.

No anger.

No surprise.

Only quiet recognition.

"You have her eyes."

Eleanor frowned.

"My... whose?"

A faint, sorrowful smile crossed his face.

"That is a question with a dangerous answer."

The mountain rumbled again.

This time, the stranger looked toward the cracked ceiling.

"They're already awake."

Lucien's expression tightened.

"They?"

The stranger turned.

"The ones who built this prison."

A cold silence fell over the sanctuary.

Matthias swallowed hard.

"I thought they were gone."

"So did I," the stranger replied.

"But prisons are never built for only one prisoner."

Before anyone could ask another question...

A deafening crack split the air.

The stained-glass windows exploded inward.

A freezing wind rushed through the monastery.

High above, the night sky changed.

The stars...

Were disappearing.

One by one.

As though something vast was passing in front of them.

The stranger looked upward, and for the first time, fear crossed his face.

"They found us."

The One Who Waited Ch 11

22:56 Jul 07 2026
Times Read: 115

Darkness swallowed the monastery.
Not the absence of light.
Something older.
The candles died first.
Then the moon disappeared beyond the stained-glass windows.
Even the crimson glow from the abyss seemed to pause, as if the darkness itself had taken a breath.
No one moved.
No one dared.
The heartbeat beneath the mountain continued.
Thump.
The sound rolled through the stone beneath Eleanor's feet.
Thump.
The monastery trembled again.
Far below, something enormous shifted.
Stone groaned under a weight it had carried for centuries.
Eleanor couldn't pull her eyes away from the abyss.
Those crimson eyes were gone.
But she could still feel them watching her.
A whisper brushed against her mind.
"Eleanor..."
She looked around.
No one had spoken.
Lucien remained on one knee, his head bowed.
Cassian's confident smile had vanished completely.
Even Matthias had fallen silent.
The whisper came again.
"Come."
It wasn't a command.
It was an invitation.
The crimson light deep within the chasm brightened, revealing an ancient staircase spiraling into the earth.
Its steps were carved from black stone polished smooth by countless feet... though no one living remembered walking them.
Matthias slowly rose.
"So..."
"The path has opened."
Cassian grabbed his arm.
"Don't."
"There are things below that should never be disturbed."
Matthias met his gaze without fear.
"They already have."
Another tremor rippled through the mountain.
A cold wind rose from the abyss, carrying voices in a language Eleanor had never heard.
Yet somehow...
She understood every word.
"The blood remembers."
"The heir has returned."
Her pendant, hidden beneath her shirt, suddenly grew warm against her skin.
A faint silver light escaped through the fabric.
Lucien looked up, his eyes widening.
"No..."
"It can't be."
Eleanor instinctively touched the pendant.
The moment her fingers closed around it, symbols began appearing along the black stone staircase.
One after another.
Glowing silver.
Leading downward.
Matthias took a slow breath.
"I've waited my entire life to see those markings."
Cassian stepped back.
"The prophecy wasn't about the prison..."
He looked directly at Eleanor.
"It was about you."
Before anyone could speak again...
A single footstep echoed from the depths below.
Slow.
Measured.
Not climbing.
Ascending.
Someone...
Or something...
Was coming up.

Chapter 10 – The Prison Opens

03:21 Jul 04 2026
Times Read: 194

The monastery shook harder than before.
Not from battle.
From below.
Every face turned toward the staircase.
A sound echoed upward.
Chains breaking.
One after another.
Metal screamed through the earth.
Lucien's face lost all color.
"No..."
Far beneath them...
A calm voice drifted through the stone.
"I warned you..."
"...they would come."
Another chain snapped.
The entire mountain trembled.
Cassian's smile vanished.
"What have you done?"
"I did nothing," Lucien whispered.
"The prison is failing."
The sanctuary floor split open.
Ancient cracks raced across the marble.
Dust exploded upward.
Deep below...
Crimson light flooded the darkness.
Eleanor heard Matthias laugh.
Not with joy.
With sorrow.
"So..."
"It begins again."
The final chain broke.
Silence.
Absolute silence.
Then...
A pulse.
Like the heartbeat of the earth itself.
Every vampire in the sanctuary dropped to one knee.
Even Cassian.
Even Lucien.
Only Eleanor remained standing.
She looked down into the widening abyss.
Two crimson eyes stared back at her.
Not with anger.
Not with hatred.
But with recognition.
Matthias spoke one final sentence before the darkness swallowed the monastery.
"Welcome to the story they never told you."
To Be Continued...

Chapter 9 – The Name of the Clan

03:19 Jul 04 2026
Times Read: 194

The silver-eyed vampire applauded slowly.
"Remarkable."
He bowed with mocking elegance.
"I suppose introductions are overdue."
"My name is Cassian."
"I speak for the Crimson Covenant."
The words struck Lucien harder than any blade.
"You should have stayed dead."
Cassian smiled.
"We all should have."
His gaze shifted to Eleanor.
"Do you know why you were truly created?"
Lucien answered first.
"No."
Cassian ignored him.
"Every few centuries..."
"One vampire is born differently."
"Not stronger."
"Not faster."
"Free."
Eleanor frowned.
"Free?"
"Free from the ancient curse."
He gestured toward the night sky.
"Sunlight."
"Hunger."
"The madness."
"Our kind has searched centuries for someone who could break the chain."
His smile widened.
"You are that someone."
Eleanor looked toward Lucien.
"Is he lying?"
Lucien hesitated.
Only for a second.
"No."
Her heart sank.
"You knew?"
"I suspected."
"And you never told me."
"I wanted you to choose your own life before others chose it for you."
Cassian laughed.
"Always pretending to be noble."
Then his expression darkened.
"You don't understand, Eleanor."
"If you refuse us..."
"We will simply take you."

Chapter 8 – The Crimson Hunger

03:18 Jul 04 2026
Times Read: 195

The smell reached her first.
Blood.
Fresh.
One of the attackers had been cut deeply across the arm.
Scarlet drops struck the stone.
Something inside Eleanor broke.
Her throat burned.
Her fangs descended without permission.
Every heartbeat around her became deafening.
No...
Not again.
She staggered backward.
Lucien saw it instantly.
"Eleanor!"
But it was too late.
The hunger drowned every thought.
She lunged.
Not at an enemy.
At the blood.
The wounded vampire laughed.
"There she is..."
"The true child of night."
Before she reached him—
A blue blur slammed between them.
Lucien caught her.
She struggled with impossible strength.
"Fight it!"
"I...can't..."
"Yes, you can."
She trembled violently.
Every instinct demanded she feed.
Lucien held her tighter.
"Look at me."
She did.
His crimson eyes were filled not with fear...
But faith.
"You are not your hunger."
The words pierced through the madness.
Little by little...
The craving weakened.
Her fangs slowly retracted.
The sanctuary fell silent.
Even the enemy vampires stared.
One whispered,
"Impossible."
No fledgling had ever stopped once the blood frenzy began.
No one...
Except Eleanor.

Chapter 7 – Blood in the Sanctuary

03:16 Jul 04 2026
Times Read: 197

The first scream echoed through the monastery like a prayer turned inside out.
Eleanor climbed the staircase despite Lucien's warning.
She stopped just below the sanctuary doors.
Moonlight poured through the shattered roof.
The ancient stained-glass windows had exploded into thousands of glittering fragments that covered the stone floor like frozen rain.
Three vampires stood inside.
None looked older than forty.
All carried themselves with terrifying confidence.
Lucien faced them alone.
His blue-lit sword rested calmly at his side.
"So," one of the strangers smiled, "the Butcher of Black Hollow still breathes."
Lucien answered quietly.
"I buried that man centuries ago."
"You buried nothing."
The tallest vampire stepped forward.
Silver eyes.
Black armor older than any kingdom Eleanor knew.
"We remember Alaric."
Lucien said nothing.
The vampire grinned.
"We remember every village."
Then he attacked.
The sanctuary erupted.
Stone shattered beneath impossible speed.
Steel rang like thunder.
Lucien met every strike without hesitation.
Not graceful.
Efficient.
Every movement carried seven hundred years of experience.
Yet he wasn't trying to win.
He was buying time.
Another attacker slipped past him.
Straight toward Eleanor.
She froze.
Until instinct took over.
The world slowed.
She heard every heartbeat.
Every footstep.
Every breath.
She moved without thinking.
The vampire's claws sliced empty air.
Eleanor had already stepped aside.
Too fast.
Even she hadn't realized she'd moved.
The attacker stopped.
His eyes widened.
"She's awakening..."
A smile spread across his face.
"Excellent."
