1976 &1977 - Sounds of my heaven - Sex Pistols - Stranglers show August 2026

Times Read: 101

In 1977 The Sex Pistols Album Never mind the Bollocks was in the Vinyl record shops, back then as a little teenager I saw it on display with a bit of paper covering it up, which made it even more interesting.

I never had the money at the time to purchase it but later I did, plus the wise purchase anarchy in the UK on the EMI Label, From a great records shop in Town called shattered records, I sold some of these great vinyl's which I should have kept, but that's life paying for other stuff, a microwave would you believe it lol.

I have found and purchased Never mind the Bollocks for £3 from a great 2nd hand record store in my local town during the early 90's

The Damned
Buzzcocks
UK Subs
Stiff little fingers
999
Chelsea
The Adverts

Was some of my favorite 1st wave punk bands too

I have picked up God save the Queen 7" along with most the singles on the great rock n roll swindle album and the gatefold album too and the movie the great rock n roll swindle on VHS Video tape.

So where is this all going you might ask me ?

One of my favorite bands is the early Stranglers records my first Punk purchase of theirs was No more heroes album, which was great controversial lyrics that would get bands cancelled in our age now due to this cancel culture, Punk would trigger peoples anger from the stereo typed persona's in our society, like Churchy types. The peaches single and straighten out, something better change were good singles it went softer with Duchess which I have still. But that was the beginning of their new approach.

Because of this I was getting more into the Anti nowhere league, GBH, English Dogs, Abrasive wheels, Chron gen, vice squad, the Exploited 2nd wave of Punk bands, the So What tour poster was on my wall and I got my first Bass guitar for my Punk band The Lepers 1979 Distorted 1980 then The Assassins 1981 doing a first gig at the local youth wing supporting a good band who did a cover of the Vapors song Turning Japanese, hearing this there was no turning back for me, as Kids could play Punk if they stuck it out,

I then Joined Impact in 1983 with 2 twin brothers which was a great lot of fun playing a few charity concerts near our local town I taped the Show put it on CD In the late 90's Not for sale is the Live Show title CD. Which is not for sale, friends only.

Blackpool Holidays in the sun starting up again in1996 and Morecambe Bay wasted festival, one of the best ever festivals I have ever been to, they had became a home for the punk festivals along with some in Europe. One I went to at the Melkweg Amsterdam in late 2000's featuring the top 1st and 2nd wave punk bands like the UK Subs and The Exploited, Subhumans.

Recently there are plenty of Punk festivals 70's and 80's bands gather to Scarborough for the Punk Festival which was great at the end of march, with whitby a short bus ride away which was a fantastic day out.

Blackpool Rebellion festival early August featuring Stranglers and 4 days of other premier punk bands 1st and 2nd wave and now 3rd wave which I am attending

Sex pistols Show supported by Stranglers

Open Air stadium theatre Scarborough UK 2nd August 2026

Tickets I have booked today £74 Which is a good deal

This line up is the best ever concert I will ever see as I never seen the Sex Pistols

JJ Burnel origional legend on the Bass & Vocals is the only founding member in the Band, but they are great as the singer Bazz Warne stated "The greatest band in the world" at Brighton Dome with Buzzcocks in my oppinion were just as good, supporting this year. He also said "You are the youngest looking crowd I have seen" as most of You people are Bald, including him
LOL : )

Anyhow slipped off piste and off track ... where was I ? Yes The Sex Pistols Concert

John Lydon will not be singing but he played Rebellion festival 2025 with his band PIL

Glen Matlock - Bass, Steve Jones - Guitar, Paul Cook - Drums formed the band in 1975 along with John Lydon, or possibly earlier, Are going to be playing with new Vocalist - Frank Carte, who has played with the band in 2024

So Yeah : ) I at long last will be seeing the Sex Pistols on August 2nd and having another great day out at Whitby on August 1st

Info on Sex Pistols from wiki below

The Sex Pistols are an English punk rock band formed in London in 1975. Although their initial career lasted just two and a half years, they became culturally influential in popular music. The band initiated the punk movement in the United Kingdom, with their clothes and hairstyles becoming a significant influence on the punk subculture and fashion.

The Sex Pistols' first line-up consisted of vocalist Johnny Rotten (byname of John Lydon), guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook, and bassist Glen Matlock, with Matlock replaced by Sid Vicious in early 1977. Under the management of Malcolm McLaren, the band gained widespread attention from British press after swearing live on-air during a December 1976 television interview. Their performances at Manchester's Lesser Free Trade Hall inspired several successful bands to form and influenced the development of England's independent music scene.

Their May 1977 single "God Save the Queen", which described the monarchy as a "fascist regime", was released to coincide with national celebrations for the Queen's Silver Jubilee. The song was promptly banned from being played by the BBC and by nearly every independent radio station in Britain, making it the most censored record in British history. Their sole studio album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols (1977) was a UK number one and is regarded as seminal in the development of punk rock. In January 1978, at the final gig of a difficult and media-hyped tour of the US, Rotten announced the band's break-up live on stage. Over the next few months, the three remaining members recorded songs for McLaren's film of the Sex Pistols' story, The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle. Vicious died of a heroin overdose in February 1979 following his arrest for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen. Rotten, Jones, Cook and Matlock later reunited for a successful tour in 1996.[1] Further one-off performances and short tours followed over the next decade. In 2024, Jones, Cook, and Matlock, reformed the Sex Pistols, with guest vocalist Frank Carter performing in place of Rotten, and have embarked on several tours since.

The Sex Pistols have been recognized as a highly influential band.[2] In 2006, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame although they refused to attend the ceremony, with Rotten referring to the museum as "a piss stain".[3]
