Found out yesterday that I do not need to take my final for chemistry next week!!! So I have psych this evening and chemistry tomorrow morning and I am done for the summer!!! Woot!

Now, time to put on a halter and cut offs and go out and wash my car! Beautiful day out!!!

Baby Carrots:

The following is information from a farmer who grows and packages carrots for IGA

, METRO, LOBLAWS, etc.

The small cocktail (baby) carrots you buy in small plastic bags are made using the larger crooked or deformed carrots which are put through a machine which cuts and shapes them into cocktail carrots - most people probably know this already.

What you may not know and should know is the following:

Once the carrots are cut and shaped into cocktail carrots they are dipped in a solution of water and chlorine in order to preserve them (this is the same chlorine used in your pool).

Since they do not have their skin or natural protective covering, they give them a higher dose of chlorine.

You will notice that once you keep these carrots in your refrigerator for a few days, a white covering will form on the carrots. This is the chlorine which resurfaces. At what cost do we put our health at risk to have esthetically pleasing vegetables?

Chlorine is a very well-known carcinogen, which causes Cancer. I thought this was worth passing on. Pass it on to as many people as possible in hopes of informing them where these carrots come from and how they are processed. I personally bought those once and they got slimy in a couple days so I pitched them and never bought them again!

We're confirming your registration in a motorcycle rider course beginning on 6/21/2013 at Lake County Gov Center, 2293 N Main St, Crown Point.

A postcard will be arriving in the mail to remind you of your upcoming class. In the mean time, below is information about your class and some things you will need to bring with you.

Note: You must be able to balance and ride a bicycle in order to take this class. Only students wearing all the protective clothing listed below will be allowed to ride… NO EXCEPTIONS!

• If you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian’s signed consent.

• Boots: High enough to cover your ankles with low heels.

• Long pants: Made of heavy material; such as denim (blue jeans).

• Gloves: Snug fitting (preferably leather), full-fingered gloves. Half-finger gloves are not allowed.

• Jacket: Long sleeve (or denim shirt) made of abrasion resistant material.

• Helmet: Properly fitted, DOT approved (loan helmets are available at the classroom).

• Eye protection (if your helmet doesn’t have a shield) i.e. glasses, goggles.
