it is our desire... nay our prerogative and dare i say, our right to live a life of convenience, to throw away that which slows us down, breaks......... or generally just gets annoying..

we live in a disposable world, and i am a disposable girl. it costs more and is inconvenient to fix that what is broken... so we replace it with something shiner with led lights, flashy dials, and a manual the size of the Encyclopedia Galactica.

oh how it thrills us to get the bigger and the better..

so when i brought home the newest more efficient, money saving, "look how cool this!" item i was over joyed.

then i found out if the load in the dryer ( yes even washers and dryers can tear our loins asunder... or perhaps it's because the middle age spread is generally thinking perhaps it's time to turn it's attention my way in a few years) as i was saying... if the load in the dryer bounces forward a tad it opens the door, and of course, this sends out warning signals to the highly intelligent dryer brain that something is happening.. the brain, in true tyrant style, forces everything to instantly stop whatever everything is doing.

this of course aggravates me, i expect to be able to do laundry with very little actual contact with machines or the clothing themselves. i am conditioned to 'throw a load in' while barely rising from the floor i am scrubbing on my hands and knees, the walls i am painting, the windows i am washing, and more likely, Top Gear or Kitchen Nightmares on BBCAmerica and the internet.

hey, it's tough lugging the wet clothes from one machine to another. why not make a machine that does it all? or better yet one that will strip the dirty clothes off of me, wash them, and put the back on... think of it! i wouldn't even have to hit pause on my DVR!

forget that our ancestors lugged piles off clothes down to a river and beat them on rocks while scrubbing away all day with lye soap... how they must have gone crazy for wash boards and tubs...

but THIS is the time for ease people! it stands to reason that i shouldn't have to stand three feet away from a machine to close the door now and then when things go awry.

and so in a flurry of pliers and screw drivers, i watched as the door was descended upon and given a thorough adjusting of attitude until, properly subdued, it fit like a glove and allowed me to find the comfortable hollow on the couch that fits my hips exactly..

the floors, the walls and windows can wait... i'm doing laundry right now.

I do hope you get the new and latestest super doopa walking talking (and with flashing lights on some models) slave that can be programed to talk any language for a few extra bucks this year.

Throw away that washinging machines and exploit a neighbours child for Xmas. Eco friendly and totally disposable ;-)

Thoth.... now they's all wrinkly

i've heard tell of this new flashy drier that uses steam to smooth the wrinkles right on out
