I didn't go to the theater to see 50 Shades of Grey. I suppose most would think it was because of my age. (old, not young, lol) I know slightly about BDSM and the movie is a love affair where the main character was introduced to it at 15. He was already broken by the abuse done to him by his real mother. For some reason, I guess many know nothing of this and considered it abuse to women. I found it odd so many didn't know that wasn't really the case. I thought Dornan did an excellent portrayal of the main character. His amusement subtly there and his cold aloof personality well displayed. People should have noticed the body language and facial gestures because that's what amused me. These two actors were very into their parts. I don't agree there was no chemistry between them. I found that comment to be inane.



I looked up some background and didn't realize the female lead was the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith. I am so surprised some were scandalized by it. I'm a senior and I wasn't. I have known men like this one, who were highly intelligent but cold emotionally even if saying something to the contrary. One into BDSM and the other not but other things. This isn't the first movie to have nudity and show sexual scenes rated R. People should really look into the area of what they were showing in regard to the main character because there are hundreds of people involved in it and it is all consensual. Now the book I understand goes beyond that but people need to remember its a work of fiction. It doesn't promote anything because it's just a story.



I thought this movie was done tastefully and it was very sensual and amusing because of the dynamic that evolved between the two. For some reason romance movies are generally graded down. Like Twilight, another romance movie of a darker shade written in a series of books, have sold in large numbers and the movie was a hit at the box office. Considering people will watch children killing each other (Hunger Games) and movies that seem to aggrandize war or gruesome movies like the Saw series, makes no sense to me. The main character is arrogant and use to getting his own way but started as a submissive first. This type of interaction isn't as uncommon as people think. It exists and many are involved in it. I'm not one of them and never have been but familiar enough with it I found as I have mention the movie to be amusing, sensual and thought the actors chosen were a good choice. I don't know why people go off about dialogue because people don't speak to each other in intellectual ways. Yeah is an optimum word. Many live on the dark side of things and because of it most don't know it exists. This was rather tame because the movie is about the relationship and how she is helping him become caring. Some involved in BDSM feel they are more in tune with their senses. I have many friends involved in this area but I don't pump them for information. I just know it isn't as uncommon as some who saw the movie might think. The dialogue seemed to be fine. Not too high toned but to the level of the average person and how they speak and related to things they know nothing about especially when it comes to the senses and love.



I loved the elevator scene at the beginning and the end. Anastasia...Christian. It's a very human story...sorry but I loved it. Now I'm going to read the books. Once these actors finish with these movies they will be rich. It was a total hit at the box office and the books have sold like hotcakes. For all those that love to put down writers and love stories on any level...boo hoo, because you are a minority.
