Play Ball!!

Times Read: 724

On Memorial Day... Monday of this past week... my 3 boys and I were able to attend our first D-backs game, thanks to the generosity of my employer, who provided us with the tickets. I'd never really driven in the downtown Phoenix area, though I've lived in Arizona all 29 years of my life. :p But, we mapquested and with some helpful hints from a co-worker, we made it to the ball park and had a great time - with the exception of the D-backs losing after having a 7-1 lead going into the 8th. ::sigh of disgust::

Well, guess what? My sons and I are going to another game TODAY! This, again, courtesy of my awesome boss and her husband... 4 tickets for really great seats (better than last time) plus $100 for us to spend on food and/or souvenirs! :) It's going to be a nationally televised game (vs the Atlanta Braves), and the seats we'll be in are, according to my kids - who are quite excited about the prospect - in an area where foul balls and errant flying pieces of broken bats (or entire bats, in some cases) are prone to end up, as well as being primo for possibly getting some t.v. "air time". (Ugh! Not looking forward to that!)

Anyway, I need to get going... need to grab a shower and get "ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille". lol Be sure to watch the game and look for me... I'll be the broad in the red shirt with a purse in front of her face for protection against flying sports equipment and annoying cameramen.

Go D-backs!!!

People suffer all kinds of losses in their lifetime.

Some losses are inevitable.

Some losses are by choice.

Some losses end up being blessings in disguise.

Some losses scar you in ways that never heal.

I have lost a lot recently. It seems I may be suffering yet another loss very soon. I'm fast becoming quite apethetic about such things... basically just accepting them as something I have no say in, and no power over. Others have been making decisions that directly affect me, without justification.

I'm sick of feeling punished, when I've done nothing wrong.

When I accept someone as a friend, I consider them a friend for the rest of my life... regardless of any misundertstandings that may come about... because my feelings when we originally established that friendship were genuine and sincere. That's the way "true" friendship works.

Hon, I don't know what you are referring to here, but no matter what happens or is said ,we will always remain friends , you don't always have to agree on everything to be friends ,

I understand what your saying, but I think that people who become our friends are not always meant to stay.

Life always changes... sometimes the best we can do is grit our teeth and move forward...

Besides, you have lost some, but you haven't lost everything... and tomorrow you might find something even better. That can't happen though if you hold onto the negative feelings...

Fear of the unknown...

I hate having this anxious, nervous, uncomfortable feeling of not knowing what's going on... what's happened... and what's yet to happen. Having no control over something that does involve me, even if just in the smallest of ways, is very bewildering.

I wish my phone would ring.

Everybody Hurts

When your day is long and the night, the night is yours alone,

When you're sure you've had enough of this life, well hang on

Don't let yourself go, 'cause everybody cries n everybody hurts sometimes

Sometimes everything is wrong. Now it's time to sing along

When your day is night alone, (hold on, hold on)

If you feel like letting go, (hold on)

If you think you've had too much of this life, well hang on

'Cause everybody hurts. Take comfort in your friends

Everybody hurts. Don't throw your hand. Oh, no. Don't throw your hand

If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no, you are not alone

If you're on your own in this life, the days and nights are long,

When you think you've had too much of this life to hang on

Well, everybody hurts sometimes,

Everybody cries. And everybody hurts sometimes

And everybody hurts sometimes. So, hold on, hold on

Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on

Everybody hurts. You are not alone

Where once there existed absolutely no doubt, there now dwells an overwhelming magnitude of uncertainty.

If it's meant to be, it will be.

In the end, I hope it all turns out for the best.

Well I would go for partially being remembered over being dismembered because I like my members. They help go through daily life!

Not trying to "hog" the spotlight, but...

08:01 May 01 2009

My boss has a weekly ad for her company that runs every Saturday in a local paper, as well as being featured on that newspaper's website. It's named after her, and credit for the articles is given to her...even though I have written a lot of them myself, and always go through the one's she actually writes to make sure whatever changes need to be made are.

This week's upcoming article was assigned to me (as was last week's - which, btw, ended up #12 on a Google search... she congratulated me on an excellent article and felt we'd hit "the big time". lol), and we both had the same idea for the subject - the swine flu.

Using some information she sent me, as well as doing my own research on the subject, I came up with a decent article. I felt it contained all the pertinent information that she wanted it to have, as well as staying within the size limit of the ad space we're allotted. The only thing I was struggling a bit with was a title for it. I wanted it to be more than just "Swine Flu".

After giving it considerable thought, I decided on a "working" title, and figured she could give me a suggestion for a better one, after she read through my draft. Well, much to my amazement and delight, she okayed the article - AND TITLE - as written....

"Swine Flu - it's not just for pigs anymore."

Yeah, I know. But, it will be appearing in this Saturday's paper, and hopefully it'll have the desired effect I had in mind when I came up with it... to get the readers' attention through a bit of humor on a somewhat serious issue.

I said "a bit" of humor. ::sigh::
