A Beautiful Soul

I have a beautiful soul, they say.
I kind heart, they say.
Beautiful on the inside, they say.
And all I can do, is smile and say thanks.
Not letting them know, how broken I am.
That beautiful soul and that kind heart
Were built from tears and scars.
From the pain to’ve never been loved,
Not caring for my broken looks.

Nobody loves a broken body,
With a kind heart.
Nobody loves a broken body,
With a beautiful soul.
Nobody loves someone, with a body
They can’t even look at.

I have a pretty smile, they say.
Cute and adorable dimples, they say.
Look younger than I am, they say
And all I can do is smile and say thanks.
Not letting them know, how broken I am.
That pretty smile, hides the pain I feel.
The cute dimples a mask, hiding who I really am.

One day that broken body, won’t be able any more
To hold that beautiful soul inside.
One day that beautiful soul will want to be free
No longer contained, by the broken body.
One day, that radiant smile will shine
Shine like a million stars up in the sky
One day, I’ll be free.
