Nephthys (or Nebet-Het) is a member of the Ennead of Heliopolis, ancient Egyptian goddess of the night, magic, twilight, mourning, and protection of the dead. A goddess of liminal saces, she is associated with the and the edge of the underworld (Duat), and was painted on coffins and tombs alongside Isis to safeguard mummies and the soul's journey.
Nephthys' hieroglyphic name is [symbolized by a basket on top of a tower] which translates to "Lady of the Temple" or "Mistress of the House" (Nebet-Hwt). It is a composite hieroglyph, formed by two symbols stacked one on top of the other:
1-The Basket: The wickerwork basket symbol (neb), meaning "lady" or "mistress".
2-The Temple/Mansion: The rectangular floor plan of an enclosure or temple (hwt).

Nephthys was born to Geb (Earth) and Nut (Sky) and was sister to Isis, Osiris, and Set. She married her brother Set, the god of chaos, though their marriage was distant and cold. As god of the desert, Set was linked to infertility, and Nephthys desperately wanted a child of her own. So she seduced Osiris(god of fertility, among other things)by plying him with alcohol or disgusing herself as his wife in order to conceive Anubis.
This betrayal angered Set and was the main motivation for his murder and dismemberment of Osiris.
After he killed Osiris, Nephthys regretted her actions and left Set to join Isis in mourning and rebuilding Osiris.
