The Doctor uses the crack as a means to communicate with Atraxi and learns of the escape of Prisoner Zero. Though the Doctor steps away for an intended 5-minute interval, a malfunction with the TARDIS extends the interval to a 12-year gap then much later than intended, due to a malfunction with the TARDIS, reunited with Doctor, to whom she ultimately becomes companion.
