Since I can remember I have always been able to control my dreams. This also includes nightmares. For example, if I were to be shot in my dream I would be able to "rewind" the dream and change it so that didn't happen.

I was wondering if any of you have this ability. And if you do, do you use it or let your dreams flow without change. Please share any examples.

I wish that I could but all the dreams I have seem to be about my future and my whole life seems to be Dachau

cyril, the ability you have described to control dreams even to the point of rewinding them is a rare ability called lucid dreaming.

lucid dreaming is a close-kin cousin to astral travel. while some may develop this ability over time, some have it naturally. when you are lucidly dreaming, you have control over what happens and where the dream takes you.

this is a very powerful ability. there are many occult practitioners who believe that the ability to control dreams is the gateway to deeper understanding of the self. dreams are the active doorway through which our subconscious mind explains and filters life events.

some would say dreams are the gateway through to another dimension of alternate reality in which many people are forced to ride along as passengers. the control of dreams in your fashion provides for deeper insight into the subconscious mind.

pay attention to where you direct your dreams. ask questions of those who appear to you in your dreams and record the answers you get. buy a notebook to keep your dreams recorded. you will probably be surprised at what you bring into conscious waking life as a result.

I assure you, I am a bit jealous of you and excited for you, as lucid dreaming has never been one of my abilities. I consider it a good night if I can even come close to remembering the details of a dream from one end to the other, much less having the ability to control where it goes.

The instant I get to that point I wake up.

i dont know if you call it rewind but i wake up from a dream like that then go back to sleep and change the dream. if i have a dream one night the next night i can make myself go back and dream the same dream again

Some dreams i can alter but most just go with the flow!...i sometimes dreams things & then they'll come true....its very wierd & sometimes scary!
