i know little of anything. but i do know her will is very strong.
im reading... " marked " by P.C. cast
well what I can understand of Nyx (nox) is that she is /was a goddess of darkness / night yet she was of Chaos and the ledgend to me is alot of confusion, and just myth. yet, I would also like to know more if there is anything to her Myth that is, I mean she is daughter and sister and mother all in one for many and it is very confusing at the least. Just my observation.
NYX was the goddess of the night, one of the ancient Protogenoi (first-born elemental gods). In the cosmogony of Hesiod she was born of Air (Khaos), and breeding with Darkness (Erebos) produced Light (Aither) and Day (Hemera), first components of the primeval universe. Alone, she spawned a brood of dark spirits, including the three Fates, Sleep, Death, Strife and Pain.
Nyx was a primeval goddess usually represented as simply the substance of night: a veil of dark veil of mist drawn forth from the underworld which blotted out the light of Aither (shining upper atmosphere). Her opposite number was Hemera (Day), who scattered the mists of night, or Eos, the goddess of the dawn.
In ancient art Nyx was portrayed as a either a winged goddess or charioteer, sometimes crowned with an aureole of dark mist.

NYX
In Greek mythology, Nyx (Νύξ, Nox in Roman translation) was the primordial goddess of the night. A shadowy figure, Night stood at or near the beginning of creation, and was the mother of personified gods such as Sleep and Death. Her appearances in mythology are sparse, but reveal her as a figure of exceptional power.
well my Mythology is alittl rusty at best yet I believe she was born of twins, and then she spawned a brood of dark spirits, including the three Fates, Sleep, Death, Strife and Pain.
she was darkness and very powerful and the story is very confusing at best, I mean it is like she came from all these diferent gods and goddesses yet she was as one. myself I have not ever seen a picture of her and as far as I know it is just a mythology folklore, yet I am interested in learning if I am wrong. very good thread.. makes us think.. LOL
so, how did Nyx start tho?
----------------------------
I guess you are asking how she was born or created....
Nyx is the "daughter" of Chaos (or Khaos)......
The beginning is Chaos. Chaos exists before anything, before the sky or earth. Chaos is defined by infinite darkness, eternal disorder. It is not a god but a great abyss of nothing. According to Greek mythology, Chaos still exists outside our cosmic universe.
Chaos is not personified as any god as it is nothing. Chaos is nothing and everything at the same time. Out of Chaos Gaea (Earth), Nyx (Night) and Erebus (Darkness) emerge. The energy of the emergence causes the power Eros, a mighty breeding power, to unite Erebus and Nyx in creating Hemera (Day), Ether (Light) and Aitheras (Air).
Out from the great nothing Chaos, Nyx (the Night) and Erebus (Darkness) arise. You might say that Nyx is the daughter of Chaos and Erebus its son. And "it" it is, Chaos is neither male nor female but a mixture of the two. The all-powering, mighty breeding power Eros unites Nyx and Erebus. The offspring of the union is Ether (Light). Nyx also gives birth to sleep, dreams, death, Nemesis (the goddess of vengeance), Eris (dispute), gossip and fraud.

Shes fun, playful yet demanding.
Hers are those where people aren't allowed unless they offer something in exchange, things granted from her, are not to be taken lightly, nor are they things that need be feared by those to whom they are given.
She is a friend to those who need her, and a guide to those who need one. A mentor and teacher. Mostly shes a keeper of things which need to be kept till their proper times. Given less due then she should be, a very primal force to be reckoned with.
wow this thread was very intriuging thank you so much for starting. I got to learn about a godess I was unaware of before and it reminded me of just why I joined vr in the first place. again thank you
Ok, I THINK that this has been posted, but can't recall at the moment. So here it is, just in case. Nighttime chick. But spawned some eh stuff. It says 3 fates, but then names 4. Hmmm...
