PROLOGUE
I sat on a hand-carved stool and watched my younger siblings play, my father strummed his lute and mother and my older brother and sister-in-law dance to his beat. On my lap the youngest sibling, Carl sat and sucked his bottle. My home was in the middle of my property with beautiful tall grass as far as the eye could see, wheel tracks lead to my house from the main road scooped out deep from my father’s constant rides into town to perform for aristocrat’s banquets and celebrations. We where celebrating my brothers engagement with Terana, they were so happy together. Her golden hair glowed in the sun and her flawless skin; it looked so good in the green she wore. Daisy, the oldest of my younger siblings, came running looking giggly. “Mommy, mommy can I sit down with you and play my lute, please, please” She looked down at Daisy and then to dad, he nodded. “Well, maybe if you ask…Russell…look!!” Everyone looked towards the road, horses where coming fast. I looked at father; I watched the night rise up behind him. “Violet get the other children to the barn and hide them quickly!!” He yelled for the younger kids and told them to follow me, I turned and watched my father pull out a blade as they approached, the children got in there hiding places and I garbed my oak wood bow and arrows, I ready my self at the door for intruders. Through the crack in the door, I watched a cage slowly roll up, its bars bent and rusted, the wood looked worn and warped and the steel wheels looks like they have seen there fair share of road. A man got of his horse, his skin was pale; his armor as spotless. Father engaged him, he was outmatched and was killed quickly. Albert and Terana were on horses and where sneaking around the men and where lost in the sea of grass. Mother was grabbed and shoved violently into the caged; a little forms started to slip from the tall yellow grass and sneaked up to the cage. I turned piles of hay and blankets where disturbed and sacks where empty “NO” I thought screaming in my head. Two of the other men gather them, herded them into a corner. Then they the men dove them into the cage, a little Red blur managed to get out between them and ran towards the barn, the door flew open as. I was ready and almost killed my little sister, “Daisy, I could have killed you...”The door squeaked, in the loft above we sat silent, the hay poked in to our clothes like daggers. I peek over the edge and tried to look at the emblems on there armor, a bat and a blade behind it, it made my heart beat faster. “ACHOO!” Daisy exploded with sneezing, the ladder squeaked loudly. “Daisy, I am going to jump in to the hay wagon just below the window, you are going to jump after me” My voiced lower with every squeaked I heard. Daisy nodded, and we crawled slowly to the window. The window was just big enough for me to get through. I fell quietly with a unpleasant surprise at the bottom, cold hands touched my skin I screamed and struggled. I got a good look at all there eyes the were all a very light yellow, one of them spoke “Aww come on just one bite, I am starving.” Another voice that was out side of the circle bellowed. “No, all of you will eat when we return the fortress, let her stand on her feet.” He comes close as I fall to my feet, His eyes, where different form the others. They where an icy blue, he move towards me and grabs my neck, every thing went black. This was five-hundred years ago, I still seek revenge for the man who took my family. He will pay.
