I nearly laughed my self to death!!! That is exactly how I feel using Windows Vista!!!!
I am fighting the conversion to Vista to the death.
I have heard that Vista takes alot of choices away from you.. is this true?
Yes, vista makes far too many choices for you. plus it asks you every time you do ANYTHING.
"are you sure you wanted to move the mouse to the left?" AAAAAGH!
though everyone hated xp at first too, and now I like it a lot.
The best reason to stay with XP for a while longer is that many programs are still not compatible with Vista.
This Mac commercial is right on par for Vista.

I hated XP and still hate XP. I have professional 2000 and am quite happy with it.
Microsoft.... the biggest virus out there.
Heh... that gif looks awfully familiar... Now I just need to find the little video where the guy gets mad at his work computer, and smacks it a couple of times.... Before going ape-sh*t, yanking it off his desk, and hurling it to the floor...
Sometimes, I just wish I could go into Best Buy, or something similiar, and just have my twisted way with all the machinery... Sludgehammer, Drill, some gasoline, and an abundance of Matches.... mmMmmmMmMm Mayhem.
" Amoke?!?!? Amoke amoke amoke amoke amoke.. gaak"
Did I type Sludgehammer? Toxic Avenger, I'm not... I meant Sledge... heh
2000 is pretty good. However it will stop being supported soon. In other words, MS will actively try to kill it :P.
I suspect the same will begin to happen to XP. They're on a 'Vista' kick. I'm sure its nice, but for now I'm of the "if it ain't broke don't fix it' mentality.
It really tiks me off.. everytime they come with a new "start of the art fuck up"... we have to spend hundreds of dollars to keep working..
Bastards.
From an IT perspective its a hair different.
Gigabit ethernet connections and 4ghz processors weren't the norm a few years back, and 'patching' old OS to work with new hardware is like putting a new paint job on a Pinto.
However, the latest Vista fiasco is complete and utter crap. It is crap. the premise is crap, the hardware...all crap. If you want Vista to run well, buy a Mac. Similar interface. They just want you to buy a new cash cow.
Did I mention its crap?
It should be pretty decent in 4 years or so :P.
I've been a Professional Network Engineer guy for more than 10 years... and yeah, I can honestly tell you that Vista BLOWS! I only installed it because I HAVE to know it inside and out... It's been a nightmare trying to hack it back into XP-like functionality.
Last thing that pissed me off was about 5 mins ago... For whatever reason, if I hit Ctrl-W while posting a msg, the window closes. It's like Apple-W on the MAC!!!
Vista = Mac OSX but crappier... and this is coming from a PC guy!!!
Have to agree with all of you on the Vista is Crap point. Husband broke his old laptop, got a new one and it came with Vista. It SUX!!! I couldn't even book our cruise online because it would not let me. We screwed with it for hours finally gave up and called.
Good luck with it, only headaches from my point.
HAHAAHAH- I used to own a pinto. Brown one. They were notorious for the tranny to go to shit fast. (as did my mom)
Well.. since we have computer guys on here.
My entire network is windows 2000 professional. we had to replace one of our computers - which came with XP, which is imcompatible with our software. So we reformated the hard drive, and stuck in the 2000 CD. Guess what? You got it.. our 2000 CD is ruined.. someone scratched it bad.
I know win2000 is no longer available in stores near you.. however.. does anyone know where I can get a REAL ONE.. not a burned copy? (burned copies dont seem to work).
We loaded 98SE, which is compatible with our software.. only to a certain degree.. where with XP... you cant even access the software.
I'll poke around. Someone in my crew if not myself probably has a full, legal, normal version of win2k.
And since I don't have it installed on my machines these days, it'd be legal for you to use.
You can probably get your software to work in what's called "Compatibility Mode". In XP, you would Right-click on the CD, find the setup file (probably Setup.exe), right-click on it and select properties, click on the "Compatibility" tab, and select Windows 2000. Put a check mark on Disable Visual Themes... then double click the file.
I've had to do that to install old versions of AutoCAD on Windows XP machines. I bet that'll work. If it doesn't, try Win98SE compatibility.
If it has a prob w/ printing, we can probably get that resolved as well.
Or, alternatively, you could run Windows XP, but just use that software in a Virtual PC (Free from Microsoft) with windows 2000 (You'd have to find)... Sorry, not trying to turn this forum into a geek-fest... :)
V4mp1re - I believe that has been tried a couple times by 2 different teches.
We've had this problem over 3 years now, and have just decided to keep the win2000 for as long as possible... If I can find the CD.
im in horrible shape i know.. to much time on my ass in front of my computer.
Well I'll get that CD off this week. Prolly Friday.
My day begins at 8am and ends at 10, with teaching kids kung-fu inbetween.
Just TRY to get a bunch of young 'uns to do it. i dare you.
man.. i wanna take kungfu!
My son has been into martial arts for awhile.. and is always "kungfu-in" the crap out of me.
He dodges the shit I throw at him now.
Take a really good look at that top picture..
In the last 24 hours, I have taken 200 payments. OI!
I'll give you a ring later, as I need to do the same thing.
Thanks!
Darrin is an IT guy with about 23 years of experience. I might be able to get him to take a look at it for you...
The win2k disk will go out on Monday. I would have sent it today, but I have wedding plans (not mine) to attend to.
Z you have no reason to wark your self to death ... TRAIN ME!!! My ankle is still hurting all to bloody hell but I should be able to make it up the six gajillion flights of stairs to your place now... LOVES YOU ... OH and happy late mothersday!!!
