This is a global event that takes place each year, with various countries hosting each successive year. Last year there were over 100,000 people there representing their religions, religious beliefs, tenets, and organisations, and yes including the darker sides such as our kin.

Is the event always held in Melbourne or does it travel year to year

The association would be my reasoning for attending.

Have to say looking at that website I learned something never knew and some things would be more interested in reading up on further it was very interesting

The Parliament of World Religions, or PoWR, moves from country to country each time it takes place, this year just happens to be in Melbourne, Australia.
