A sunny morning and I’m dressed

to look ‘smart’: no earring and a tie.



I’ve just missed my train and my brain

is now going whirly-gig as I look to my watch.



So, I walk the length of the platform slow, aware

that I’ve still got fourteen minutes to go.



In my pockets a CV and references for me: shaved

twice, done my nails and hope I look nice.



And, I stop at the end of the platform, to watch

four Blackbird, fighting on the track.



And then, I walk back, to wait, for the train.
