I rested my head against his chest, closely, enough to hear his heartbeat plainly through the heavy blue hoodie he was wearing. I closed my eyes, and sighed heavily. He carressed my back with one hand and stroked my cheek with the other. He bent his neck slightly and kissed the top of my head.
I lifted my face to his and looked into his eyes. I saw myself reflected in them, and as I so often did, wonderd what he saw in me.
"I'll make your life miserable. I'm crazy, and all I will do is drag you into my craziness and trouble and destroy you. I have nothing to offer you but myself, and that is a sorry ass prize." I put my head back down and closed my eyes; hot angry tears streaked down my cheeks and splashed onto my sleeve, leaving dark wet spots on the fabric. He put his finger under my chin and tilted my face up to his. He kissed my lips soflty, gently, and pulled me to him again. He held me tightly, his fingers entwined into the ends of my hair, conveying his possession over me. I tried hard to hold back the tears, but I felt them overflow onto his shirt.
"You are all I've ever wanted. You are the prize...My Prize. I've fought long and hard and now..." his breath was hot against the side of my head as his voice vibrated in my ear. His lips grazed my forehead, then traced down my face until they found my lips again. He kissed me hard, a kiss filled with longing and relief. "Now I wont, I can't, let you go. You are mine, and I claim you."
I smiled at him, amazed at his dedication to me. I feared for his sanity, but in this instant I understood exactly what Love was, and what a journey that I was in for. And I was willing to take the trip, with him by my side.
