So in my random internet readings, I happened to stumble onto this report "Behind the Bean" all about soy products. Now most will think this is only for Vegetarians or Vegans....False. I think this is for everyone who eats Chocolate, and well most pre-made foods, or are taking Soy Protein supplements. Did you know that to separate the Oil, Protein and Fiber from the Soy Bean, it is immersed in a Hexane Bath.
What is Hexane? It is a by-product of Gasoline refining, and is well a highly explosive neurotoxic chemical. Its the cheaper and easier way of separating the Soybeans.
But this isn't used for just Soy, it is also used for corn, and Canola. There are other less toxic ways to separate the oils, proteins and fibers...And there are some companies that do it...But due to costs...Hexane is the predominant way.
So anything with Soy Lecithin, Soy Protein Isolate, Texturized Soy Protein (most fake meats), has been soaked in Hexane...Mm mm good.
I can ramble forever about this.
So Check the facts read the report by the Cornucopia Institute, and check out the score card to see which companies use Hexane and which don't...and the ones who don't want their consumers to know anything about what they are doing.
Healthy eating!
