A large dragon stood before me
With a twinkle in his eyes
He said," I'm here to tell you
Why dragons no longer rule the skies."
"I am the last one left," he said.
"All the rest of us are dead.
Men have killed us and put our teeth on a shield.
I only wish they would yield."
"I will tell this story to you
Before they kill me too.
They search for me both day and night,
But I am sure I am out of sight."
"I helped a human out long ago.
When he had been shot through the heart
Back to my skiff I made my way,
and raised the sail once more
And with the sunset on my face,
I turned my back to shore
Ahead lay naught but open sea,
I saw no hint of land
But still I set the tiller with a
firm and steady hand
For somewhere to the west they soar
and westward my course lies,
Till I have found the fabled land
where Dragons rule the skies.
Now I have sailed ten thousand
leagues and I'll sail many more
And storm and wreck
I'll gladly brave as I have braved before
Though empty is the open sea and
bitter winter's storms
Emptier still's a dreamless soul
and crueler is the scorn
Of those who do not dare to dream
and cling to hearth-fire's glow
I left them without
looking back many a year ago.
So now the ocean is my road all
through the starlit night
'Till the sun rises at my back
and in the dawn's gray light
I see an island long and
low a half day's sail away
Hid under heavy looming clouds
not yet lit by the day
Yet as dawn brightens in the
sky I see a sudden gleam
As the sun's first ray glances
from a circling seabird's wing.
But surely no bird could
be seen as far afield as this
And no feather could ever gleam
so bright in dawn's first kiss
Another shines and still a third,
a spark of golden fire
From thirty leagues I see them
climb soaring higher and higher
Surely nothing but dragons
scale could so brazenly shine
As they thunder into the air
in beauty near divine.
I see them clearly though my eyes,
are filled with tears of joy
For finally I've found the dream
I first dreamed as a boy
My skiff fair flies across the waves
her bow spits spindrift foam
Though never have I seen this
shore I feel I'm coming home
And overhead the sky is gold
and glory fills my eyes.
The crystal air is wonder pure.
And Dragons Rule The Skies.
" The time's long gone" the old man said " you've come too late, my son
You'll see them not in this sad age, their time is long since done
A hundred years ago and more, they've been gone from this land"
His voice was tough but his voice said: "Aye lad I understand"
For I had sailed 'cross half a world to seek the fabled isles
Where I had heard that dragon wings still soared across the skies.
"You must have come from far indeed" he said with knowing eyes
"The word has gone afar and wide that they have left our skies
Sit down a while, young lad" said he "Let me tell you a tale
Of dragons streaming down the wind, sunlight bright on their scales
A tale my grandfather told me when I was but a lad,
For I too know the dragon's draw, I'd fain not leave you sad"
And so I sat down at his feet, upon a tuft of grass,
And listened as he spun a tale of beasts of gold and brass,
With scales brighter than minted coin, wings glinting in the sun,
Higher by far than eagles soar Dragons were wont to run.
He told of glory greater far than any work of men,
Of wisdom born in aeons past and held in trust since then.
His eyes were bright with boyhood's gleam as dusk crept down the sky,
I knew he heard an older voice, from when he, just like I,
Had sat and listened to the tale, hanging on every word
From one who might have seen it true, in a more wondrous world
He told it as much for himself as he told it for me
For his heart knew the yearning too those golden wings to see.
At last his tale drew to a close and with one breath we sighed
Imagining a brighter age before the wonder died
When unicorns roamed in the woodsand giants still were seen
And mountain valleys echoed with the griffin?s fearless scream
When wizards walked upon the earth with magic in their eyes
When elves lived side by side with men and Dragons ruled the skies.
"Well that's the tale" he said at last "My grandpa told to me
He said he saw with his own eyes their wings over the sea
The day they flew into the west never again to fly
Above the hills of this green isle" he heaved a heavy sigh
And said to me "Well I must go the sun is nearly set
My wife will have the dinner done, and home's a long walk yet.
Perhaps you'll come and eat with us? There?s plenty to go 'round"
Though his offer sore tempted me, I stood and looked around
Then politely I did decline, "I too must go" said I
And he gave me a knowing look, and briefly caught my eye
I turned and walked back down the hill, towards the little town
That slumbered quietly 'round the bay where I had come aground.
Back to my skiff I made my way, and raised the sail once more
And with the sunset on my face, I turned my back to shore
Ahead lay naught but open sea, I saw no hint of land
But still I set the tiller with a firm and steady hand

The crystal air is wonder pure.
And Dragons Rule The Skies.
Some great beast came down to me
and truth did he outpour.
A story that most see as myth
from ancient days of yore.
Though they are great and fierce in sight
the dragon is still tame.
And the gentle nature of the beast
bears no reverence to it's name.
Father Dragon is a mighty one,
who could be friend or foe.
But our mind is prejudice
to what it does not know.
Guardians born into the night,
they'll forever be.
Standing atop a mountain, perched,
watching over you and me.
Into the sky they do fly,
with grace pulled from the night.
And soar like angels through the air,
projecting heavenly light.
But still we fear the gentle one,
father Dragon told me so.
For our fear leads us to hate
the things we do not know.
But my eyes have seen the truth,
so, I tell you all.
Do not fear your guardian,
instead..., head the Dragon's Call
There is something about dragons
all fire and steam
They go together in the midst of our dreams
The dragon is wise beyond it's years
It sets no limits and faces all fears
The dragon is powerful in body and mind
Is true to it's heart and true to it's kind
The dragon is just and fights for what's right
To all who encounter it, their lives are made bright
The traits of the dragon we should all embrace
And toghether we'll make this world a better place!
Dragons are crafty, wicked and wise,
if you see a burning red flame,
you can tell just by looking into their eyes,
it can only mean they're betroth in giving pain.
If their eyes sparkle and glimmer of the lightest of blue,
you best be careful what you do.
If your words are truthful and faithful at heart,
you have no need to worry, they won't tear you apart.
But if your words are unlawful and hate is in your eyes,
they will only bring you to your demise.
On wings of thunder
honor bound
search me out, I drum the sound
twist and turn in the night
dragon come, my guiding light.
Protector, guardian, friend not foe
come to me, see my sigil glow.
Strong and true this friendship charm
I beckon thee, keep me from harm.
Around and about your magick swirls
come to me, your wings unfurled.
Left in a pool of blood, yet not my own, but it
is or was me,
in a world were humans hate us, I am yet a dragon
left alone.
There are more then one but I'm toren between the
dragon and human,
for my true love is a human... Calidoria, oh
Calidoria,
how can a name so beautiful give me such pain
and still make my heart sing.
In the depths of my being I wish to rip off the
wings, claws and fangs,
oh to be human with Calidoria,
yet, I can not be something I am not and so my
tears are in vein.
I tried so hard to be human that I tryed to rip
the dragon from me,
but without the dragon there is nothing but a
shell of a being left to die in a pool of blood.
Dragons treasure of gems and gold,
steal some and your future shall come to a hold,
for dragons, as I far well know,
have awful tempers and it will show,
you can try to hide far away from his lair,
but alas, even across the towns a dragon could smell the tinyest of hair,
then when he finds you running with all your might,
he'll stalk you even through the darkest of night,
then when he decides the perfict time to pounce,
there shall be nothing more to do, best not even bounce,
for as any could tell dragon breath,
shall bring you to a terrible death,
now if you come across a dragons cave,
best be carfull and not nave,
do not enter as tempting as it may be,
and remember the tall I told you for free.
It burns in my heart
my eyes weep it at night,
I wake with a start,
yearning for the sight,
of...Dragonfire
"Myth",all others say,
I'm a foolish, silly child,
all I do is pray,
for a glimpse, of true, pure, wild...
Dragonfire
I walk alone and cry,
it haunts each and every dream,
I cannot help but try,
to reach out for a stream
of...Dragonfire
Why can't I see it?
I hope, and watch, and pray,
if it's false, so be it...
but burn my dreams away
The greatest way to see the world would be
astride a dragon flying fast and high.
Just take a moment - picture it with me,
and think about how it would be to fly.
His wings beat through the air with power and might,
we dip and turn and swirl up in the sky,
the thrill of soaring fills me with delight,
I wish this feeling didn't ever die.
My dragon friend is powerful and strong,
his wine-red hide shines golden in the sun,
and when we fly together I belong
to him, and him to me, and we are one.
The world is such a grand and wondrous thing,
when carried through the clouds by dragon wings.
A Dragon is a special thing, unique to its creator,
Some look like a serpent or a toothy alligator.
Some have tails and wings and horns, while others none at all,
Some are absolutely huge, while others very small.
I think that each displays a certain person's point of view,
And what each means is something that's completely up to you.
Death draws near,
The heat gives hint,
Fire, acid, spewing forth,
Dragons have been sent.
Wings of silk,
Flapping in the breeze,
And with the flick of the wrist,
They kill with great ease.
Dragons in flight,
With Death on their minds,
Blood rushing through their veins,
And shining in their eyes.
They have blood on their claws,
And blood on their breath,
But guilt they have not,
Because they love death.
So fear their approach,
Hide in the night,
And always respect,
The dragons in flight
Sitting on my bed,
A dragon in my heart,
Waiting for nightfall,
Waiting for dark.
So my soul can be free,
So I can fly,
And join the other dragons,
In the sky.
Flying between clouds,
Weaving through stars,
Over the moon,
Distracting the cars.
High in the sky,
Without a care,
Ignoring the people,
Who sit there and stare.
Our minds are free,
Our nostrils flared,
Our souls are open,
Ready to be shared.
A night for a partener,
A night above earth,
A night for love,
And dragons to birth.
This one night for us,
To die and then live,
To hurt and then heal,
To take and then give.
After this night,
A year to wait,
Till we can live,
Till we can face fate.
This is the night,
For dragons to rule,
To dance in the sky,
And swim in the deep, dark pool.
This is why I wait,
A dragon in my heart,
Waiting for night fall,
Waiting till dark.
Hail the black dragon
the smart and evil king
of him all the singers
choose to sing
Hail the black dragon
the wise and evil king
whose almost white fiery breath
will leave a nasty sting
I see the dragon i n the sky
oh no does he see me
I look around for shelter
and see a fallen tree
I don't want to stay
and be a meal
burns are a pain
I don't want to feel
as I began to think
that I might die
I became very scared
and started to cry
the dragon heard me
and floated down
and on his face
was a creat big frown
he said to me
he doesn't like to kill
and he lives in a cave
in a creat big hill
we became good friends
him and I
we never told each other a lie
all because I began to cry
when I saw a dragon in the sky
