Every year in July there is like an Alternative/Rock Festival in Belgium that lasts 4 days.. Rock Werchter!! Bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Kings of Leon, Coldplay,.. gather all in one place to perform live! It's the most visited and most rocking festival in Belgium and people from all over Europe, even China and America fly over to witness this awesome experience.
So...of course, I had to go as well! :D I bought my tickets and my tent, closed the door behind me and went on this crazy adventure all by myself. I took the train, then the bus, then walked 2 kilometers with like baggage of 10 kilos until I finally reached my camping spot. I set up my tent and went exploring the area..
There I was, thinking it couldn't be much of a deal to go all by myself to a festival... Meanwhile I was standing amongst a crowd of thousands of people I didn't know. And I was having the best time of my life!
I could just do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted.. Headbang along with some heavy metal music? Why not! Get out of 'bed' at noon and party till 2 am? Why not! Eat the best junk food there is while there was a health stand just 2 meters from it? Why not! Never would I have expected 4 days to completely change my life!
And the stories I heard and things I saw..
One night I laid down at 3 am and couldn't sleep because my teeth were shattering from the cold. I was listening to the sounds around me.. partying Irish people that fore some reason were cursing like there was no tomorrow, some French people having a barbeque...at 3 am.. (I swear, those French know how to cook and when to cook), and there were also 2 girls next to my tent..
They were having a conversation about boys (how could it be something else lol).
One was going on about her past boyfriends and how they've treated her.. "Michelle, I really can't seem to figure guys out..the only thing they want is sex. You can't have a decent conversation with them or they will bring up sex. I told him this just recently and he said I was overreacting and that sex was a good thing so at least he was talking about something pleasant. Can you imagine! I really don't know what to think of it. What do you think about boys Michelle?"
So I never would have guessed Michelle's response...but this was what she said: "Euhm...well actually...I am kind of into girls.."
The silence that followed lasted for ages...trust me.. :)
Then there was this dude the next day that had too much to drink (as most of the people there :P) and he was standing in the middle of a packed crowd, screaming and dancing to some rock music. Everybody is sweaty and warm cause of the heat outside and the fact that this was all under a huge tent. The fact that he was dancing isn't special at all, but all of a sudden he decides he has too much clothes on and just starts undressing himself. I thought he would take his shirt off and that would be it, like most guys do...but no..this one had a whole other plan! He decided he was going to share his intimate parts with the rest of the world and just took off pants and everything. You can't imagine the expression on the face of the girl that was dancing in front of him when she turned around...priceless! :)
So the four days sadly came to an end and it was time to go home. The last band had played and Rock Werchter had officially been ended at 3 am in the morning. I wasn't planning on having yet another sleepless night, so I took the bus to the train station and had to wait with hundreds of others for the first train. Everybody was extremely tired so they just lay on the ground and took a nap. Finally my train showed up and I was home at 6 am. Having not slept for 4 days, I was exhausted! So I went to my room and crashed into my bed.
The next thing I know I am woken up by my sister at 7 am (so I had only slept one hour!) and she asks me if I had a good time at the festival. (I know what she asked me, because she told me later) But at that moment I only heard some noise and my vision was blurry so I just raised my head of my pillow and said: "Huh? Do you live here?"
She's my sister for christ's sake! Of course she lives here! But I swear at that moment my brain wasn't working at all! I just looked at her for one second with this strange expression (half questioning, half drooling) before I passed out again. I didn't see her reaction, but apparently she freaked out as hell thinking something happened to me there and I had gone mad or something.
So there I am, lying in my bed and sleeping quietly when suddenly I hear someone entering my room (I by then had slept a few hours more, so I wasn't that disoriented). I look up and I see my mom standing over me, her vulture eyes observing every move I make (Edgar Allan Poe reference there lol). So I raise my head again in order to look around and take in the situation and that is when she explodes.. "HAVE YOU BEEN TAKING DRUGS?!?"
She was furious and raging for about half an hour before she finally gave me the chance to explain myself.
Apparently my sister had told her what had happened during her absence and that she had panicked because she thought I was dying from an overdose. xD
Trust me..you wouldn't have wanted to be me at that moment.. I swear, this is the main reason I won't EVER take drugs.. Just to make sure I won't have to deal with that again..lol :)

Wowwww great report on what happened to you those 4 days, and smart conclusion, don't take drugs, just beer and wine will be fine :)
