I am busy with school work once again. I find such relief when I can come in and relax for a few minutes.
I got a email from my mom, and the cat I gave her 18 years or so ago had to be put to sleep. The cat's name is Wendy, and she was such a joy to my mom, who lives by herself since my dads passing over 25 years ago now.
Wendy was very sick and needed surgury, for what mom didn't say. Wendy was too old and would not have survived the surgury, so mom decided to have her put to sleep.
I gave Wendy to my mom for a birthday present. She was such a sweet cat......when she was a kitten, she nearly drowned in the stock tank on my farm. The board some how fell so Wendy could not get out. I found her struggling for her breath. I pulled her out of the water, and was able to get the water out of her lungs. I took her into the house and dried her off. Carried her into bed with me, and woke to find her purring, and gently stroking my cheek with her paws. Another time Wendy decided to go with me to a night class during a blizzardy evening. She was on top of my car and I could hear her meows as I drove down the dirt road toward school. I stopped and she jumped down and ran into a ditch, but it was so dark I couldnt see her and she was too scared to come to me. I couldn't find her, so continued on to class. The next day, my son went looking for her and found her down by the neighbor farmer hiding in a ditch. He carried her home, and she was really glad to be home. Her first stop was the food bowl. After she had her fill, she climbed up into my lap and took a long peaceful rest.
Wendy will be missed. Mom has another cat, Wojie a male cat who has always been on the timid side. He comes to her now, very quiet and isn't vocal like Wendy was. Mom said he knew Wendy was dying; and is adjusting rather well to Wendy not being there.
It is so sad to loose a pet.
~A Child's Garden~
When planting my flower and herb garden, I always plant the type of flowers and herbs that are friendly. What I mean about friendly is I do not have to worry if a child or favorite pet decides to eat a leaf or flower from the herbs and flowers growing in my garden.
Some plants act almost like magnets, drawing children back again and again.
What are the secret qualities that make certain plants favorites of children?
Personality (faces in a pansy, sunflower, or snampgragon); fragrance (once thought to be the very sould of the flowers); texture (woolly lamb's ears); and color---riotous, vibrant color.
Here are some of the plants I like to grow in my herb garden, ones I know children will like, not just them but me too.
~Perennials~
Balloon Flower (Platcodon grandiflours)
Just plain fascinating.
Bleeding Heart (Dicentra spectabilus)
For fairy gondolas or earrings; a perfect flower for pressing.
Chinese Lantern (Physalis alkekengi)
These brilliant orange globes look like real Chinese lanterns--perfect for a doll tea party. Exceptionally easy to grow and will self-sow prolifically.
Columbine (Aquilegia spp.)
Also known as Little Doves or Granny's Bonnets, these are the fairy shoes of flower dolls.
Day Lily (Hemerocallis spp.)
These are colorful and easy to grow, provided you have lots of sun. Children can gather the blossoms and buds and cook them. The flower blossoms make skirts for dolls.
Dollar Plant, Money Plant or Honesty (Lunaria redeviva, or L. annua a biennial)
This makes play money, play dishes, gypsy jewelry. Easy to grow, and self-sows with abandon.
False Dragonhead (Physostegia virginiana)
Kids can twist this into all sorts of funny positions and it will maintain the pose for hours (it is also referred to as Obedient Plant.)
Lady's Mantle (Alchemilla spp.)
Children love the dew diamond in the middle of the leaf (a gift from the fairies, no doubt).
Pink (Dianthus spp.)
"Fresh pinks cast incense on the air, In fluttering garments fringed and rare." The scent remains in your memory forever. The petals are edible, and kids love to strew them in salads. Carnations (from the word coronet, and they can be made into coronets) are in this family, too. It's fun to string pinks together to make garlands and jewelry.
Poppy (Papaver orientale)
They make excellent dancing dolls on their stems. Children use them as water ballerinas, and they are fun to watch opening and closing (sometimes we have helped open them). The seed pods are like tiny rattles or pepper shakers.
Sunflowers (Heliantbus annuus)
Sunflowers have true personalities, they attract birds and bees, they are the framework for making "sunflower houses" and the seeds are yummy. The mature flower heads can be harvested and used as birdfeeders. No garden can be considered complete without the whimsical presence of sunflowers.
The annuals we plant each Spring---
They perish in the Fall;
Biennials die
the second year,
Perennials,
Not at all!
Next time I will write about Annuals
Legend 2
Long ago when the world was young, an old Lakota spiritual leader was on a high mountain and had a vision.
in his vision, Iktomi, the great trickster and teacher of wisdom, appeared in the form of a spider.
Itkomi spoke to him in a scared language that only the spiritual leaders of the Lakota could understand.
As he spoke Iktomi, the spider, took the elder's willow hoop which had feathers, horse hair, beads and offerings on it and began to spin a web.
He spoke to the elder about the cycles of life...and how we begin our lives as infants and we move on to childhood, and then to adulthood. Finally, we go to old age where we must be taken care of as infants, completing the cycle.
"But," Iktomi said as he continued to spin his web, "in each time of life there are many forces -- some good and some bad. If you listen to the good forces, they will steer you in the right direction. But if you listen to the bad forces, they will hurt you and steer you in the wrong direction."
He continued, "There are many forces and different directions that can help or interfere with the harmony of nature, and also with the great spirit and-all of his wonderful teachings."
All the while the spider spoke, he continued to weave his web starting from the outside and working toward the center.
When Iktomi finished speaking, he gave the Lakota elder the web and said..."See, the web is a perfect circle but there is a hole in the center of the circle."
He said, "Use the web to help yourself and your people to reach your goals and make good use of your people's ideas, dreams and visions.
"If you believe in the great spirit, the web will catch your good ideas -- and the bad ones will go through the hole."
The Lakota elder passed on his vision to his people and now the Sioux Indians use the dream catcher as the web of their life.
It is hung above their beds or in their home to sift their dreams and visions.
The good in their dreams are captured in the web of life and carried with them...but the evil in their dreams escapes through the hole in the center of the web and are no longer a part of them.
They believe that the dream catcher holds the destiny of their future.
These two legend stories were borrowed from the Crystal Links Website.
Today has been one of those days where it doesn't pay to get out of bed.
I tried to work on school assignments, but it took all day to do them. Had to take dad to the doctor. His back has been bothering him really badly to where the pain is constant to the point where he said if I knew it would stop the pain, I'd shoot myself. The doctor gave him some Loratabs and no sooner was the perscription filled, he took one and the pain has finally stopped. He ate a good supper, and is resting with his best friends, the heating pad and my dog Taffy.
Dr. Barbara took him off work for the rest of the week, which will really hurt us financially. I feel like old mother hubbard, because for once, our freezer is bare, with the exception of a bag of ice.
I have a 1400-1700 word essay to write by Sunday and I haven't even started it yet, I have time, so my time on here won't be very long except to check messages and view a few new profiles. I love the ones with music on them. I heard my favorite of all songs Silent Lucidity by Queensryche. When I hear that song I can hear the sweet voice of Cheetahcry.....she has the most beautfifullest voice I have ever heard.
well my friend it is time for me to go once again. I probably won't sleep, but I need the rest so I can concentrate on school, and help take care of daddy. (I call my boyfriend Daddy)
Until next time.........

Hugs to you and daddy (my Father in law lol)...Let me know how therapy goes today.
When I was about 5 years old, there was a lady in the neighbor-hood who had cats all over the place. In her yard, in her house.... I remember peeking through her windows just so I could see her cats.... I LOVE cats.
All the neighbors as I remember it, said she was a witch. But I didn't care, I thought she was a nice lady and besides she had critters that I LOVED!!!
Every day on my way home from school I would walk past her house, and I just had to stop and visit with her cats, trying to peek into closed curtained windows just hoping I would see inside.
It was halloween, and it was quite dark when my friends and I went trick or treating. Walking home with my bag of sweets, I looked up into the sky.... to see a witch on a broom. I was so excited, but never said anything to anyone until now.
The next day when I stopped by the ladys house with all the cats, there was a very nice woman waiting for me with her door open. She was holding a black and white kitten in her hands, and gave it to me.
That was the happiest day of my life back then.
I learned later after my family moved into a new house in a new town, that the cat lady or witch, passed away. I felt really blessed to be given a gift from her.....a kitten.
It has been a few days since I last wrote in this journal.
I will be starting new classes in college that will last nine weeks and then I will be graduating. I will be getting my Associates Degree in IT Visual Communicatiions. I am debating on continuing on towards my BA. I have six months to decide if I want to continue. In the mean time I will be dedicating my time to studying and completing assignments. I so dislike writing essays, not so much the writing of them, but making sure everything is cited and referenced according to APA format. I don't know why it is so difficult to cite something, as I have no problems giving credit where it is due to the writers of articles. It is they that I learn from so it is only fair to give these wonderful people the credit they deserve.
Anyway, I won't have as much time to spend here as I would like, but plan to spend at least an hour or so each day or every other day. It is here where I can relax and enjoy the readings of others who write so easily. I wish I were able tp express myself better with words. My mind seems to move so fast that I have a hard time writing it all down.
My homelife has been rather hectic lately. There are bills to be paid, and not enough funds to get them all paid on time. My boyfriend keeps telling me not to worry, that they will be taken care of. I love his positive spirit, always has the right things to say to make everything easier for me and yet I feel the stress of the needs to keep the family together with the things they want and need. The needs over come the wants, and the desires are like dreams. So I need to keep a positive thought in my head and over come the negatives that seem to be so overwhelming.
Well it is time to get some much needed sleep so I can begin the new day with a clear mind and dig into my school work with a clean slate if you will.
Until next time my friend.

its all good hun.... Things will work out over time you know that. Besides once he realizes that its time for the kids to grow up and be adults things will change. Hugs to you will catch you on AIM in the next day or so.
It has been a couple of days since my last entry to this journal.
I have been busy working on finals for classes. Last week was the final test in algebra, I passed!! I was so worried that I would fail it and have to take it again. I never thought I would be doing algebra as I never took it in high school.
Now this week I have finals in Web Design II.
When I logged in to RV to work on my profile, I noticed something strange with my pages. The background is gone, and it is very hard to read what I have posted because the font color is white, which looks pretty good on this black background color. Until I find out from my friend as to how to fix this, I can write in my journal.
I think I will work on telling a story about Dreamcatchers and some of the legends or stories told by Native Americans. It was the Ojibwa (Chippewa) tribe that created the Dreamcatchers. I will work on it more tomorrow however, because my family is dishing out birthday cake and I've been called to the table. So until tomorrow my friend.

Mom is doing alright. She of course misses all the little things that she shared with Wendy. Wendy would spend her time sitting on moms lap when she was at the computer, and while mom was doing her emails, Wendy would be on the floor, reaching up with her arms; waiting for mom to pick her up. So much like a child huh? or watching tv. And of course she slept at the head of moms bed, like a cap lol.
Wojo is moms second cat. He is the timid one. When mom was working before retirement, Wojo was good company for Wendy. They both would greet her when she would come home. And they continued to do so after she retired, and would go for walks to where ever she wanted to go.
Thanks for your concern.
