Wings sprouting from my back.
The stamina and speed of the rabbit in my grasp.
Finding love on a dusty road.
Battle trenches and tattered flags on their poles.
Guns laid down at the pass.
A knight lays down his shield as the drunk discards his flask.
Sleep evades tired eyes.
Words evade tired minds.
The snow fell and covered their thoughts.
It was okay they didn’t need to be thinking them anyway.
They had buried their ambitions long ago.
As it fell, their faces lit with innocent smiles.
Hidden rabbit holes in the tall grass
Places to store broken hearts
He didn’t know she would take him so literally
but that's okay, she didn’t either.
The grass grew over our heads
We made a place to waste some time
Our energy out lasted the sun
and we had to let the moon light our way
Hidden rabbit holes in the tall grass
Places to store broken hearts
He didn’t know she would take him so literally
but that's okay, she didn’t either.
The rain fell from the sky.
Their boat had sailed long ago.
She wasn’t much of a sailor
and He wasn’t much of a teacher.
Hidden rabbit holes in the tall grass
Places to store our broken hearts
He didn’t know she would him so literally
but thats okay, she didn’t either.
Run little rabbit Run
Dodge your shame
Escape the past that is biting at your heels
Vow to never get caught again
Blame it on the wolves
Run little rabbit Run
Dig the holes that will eat you alive
Sleep in the arms of the hunters
Die in the arms that will abide
Blame it on the wolves
Run little rabbit Run
Away from those that crave your blood
Listen for the savages
But offer them your love
Blame it on the wolves
Fight little rabbit Fight
To protect what you will create
For the reasons your alive
Against the failure and your fate
Blame it on the wolves
Die little rabbit Die
For the sins of those around you
For those who you let consume you
and with your last dying breath don’t forget to,
Blame it on the wolves...

Funny how the silence is enough sometimes
