Recently Ive been thinking about gay marriage more and more. Ive talked about it with teachers, friends, and various people online. The more I talk about it the angrier I get. I support gay marriage completely. I always will. Now to get on to what I wanted to say.
People tell me that gay sex is disgusting, nasty, and wrong. I see several problems with sex in general. First of all the only purpose for sex is to reproduce. Humans have twisted this purpose around completely until the main purpose for sex is pleasure. Another thing, many people have gotten into the habit of doing one night stands. Is this not as bad as gay sex? You have no intentions of ever speaking to the person again. Enough on the topic of sex.
Now lets take a look at marriage. In the American society today more and more couples are getting divorced. And some are getting married for ridiculous reasons like money. We allow people to get married then divorce over the slightest thing sometimes. Why do we not let happy couples get married just because they happen to be of the same gender?
Now lets look at discrimination. From what I have gotten the United States prides itself on being a free country and very nondiscriminatory. By not allowing gay marriage the United States is discriminating against a huge amount of people. Is this fair? Not at all. The government makes discrimination illegal but yet they pass laws that discriminate. Does anybody else see a problem with this?
Moving on. Who says that marriage is between one man and one woman? Many religions state that marriage is between a man and a woman. Since they are following their religion if a religion stated that it was ok to kill off nonbelievers would that make it ok? No, it wouldnt. So just because some religions state that gay marriage is wrong doesnt mean it is. Before it became illegal Mormon men would marry several different wives. Until other religions stepped in to say that was a sin and made it illegal. To the Mormons it wasnt a sin though. People are doing the same thing with gays. They think its wrong so it automatically is. Where is the fairness in this?
Time for another of my opinions. I found a thread in the forum today "If you have faith." I decided to check it out and the person that started the thread said if you believe in God you must believe in the devil as well. So I posted my opinion to this. Another person posted after me that "You can't have one without the other. Its almost an exact science. Anyone who says they believe in god or the devil and not the other is hugely confused in life." Well I must say that I found this mildly annoying. I believe that the devil was created by several religions as a way to keep their followers in line. Nobody wants to go to hell after all. I honestly believe in God. I can not bring myself to believe in the devil. Why should I? I do not believe in heaven or hell. I just believe that life was created by an intelligent creator. That does not mean that the devil exists as well. The devil is just a belief held by highly religious people. I do not consider myself to be confused, not in the least. In fact I understand my views on God completely.
To take a logical view at the original statement. "If you believe in God then you must believe in the devil" is not a logical arguement. Just because you believe in one does not mean you have to believe in the other and vice versa. It would be kinda weird if you only believed in the devil but if that is what you believe then you are entitled to that. Just like with God, not all religions have a devil. Does that mean that they are wrong? Just because they are different than the religions that believe in the devil? What makes one view on religion and God better than another one?
I dont understand why some people consider certain topics to be too mature for younger people. Id like to see one that is too mature for younger users to handle. Just because they are young does not mean they are immature. Some topics are probably too mature for adult users. It isnt fair to single some people out because of their age. Ive seen adult users who are more immature than younger users. From what Ive gotten this site wasnt created to single people out, so why should the people allowed to be on the site be singled out? It would be unfair to ban younger users from being on the site because of their age. Especially when some adults act like children. If the adults are concerned about certain things being too mature for younger users then they shouldn't post them. Because if they are too mature for younger users then odds are they are too mature for some adults as well.
Browsing through the forums a thought occured to me. You always see happy birthday threads and engagment threads in the my mascara is running section. What if the people they are made for do not want people to know it is their birthday? Sure its nice to see all the happy birthdays but I honestly dont think that half the people that post in there mean it. They only use it get their post number up. Same with engagements. You could probably post you are getting married to yourself and people would still say congrats. What if the other person engaged did not want all these strangers on the site to know they were engaged? Its great to see all of the congrats in there but once again half the people probably dont care that you are engaged. Its a way to get their post count up and they are going to take it.
So I was chatting with a friend about God and why people associated him as male. I think I just figured it out.
Well most of the big religions, like Christianity, Islam, and Judaism (I think) believe that God impregnated the Virgin Mary. If God were female it would contradict their views on gays and would also be impossible for Mary to become pregnant. Huge parts of their beliefs rely on God being male. So he has to be male in order for their religion to hold up.
