My Sensei told me another story recently....
A Teacher and his Apprentice where sitting under the shade of an old willow tree, enjoying the breeze, when the Apprentice commented on how it seemed the the Master favored the more then the others in the yard.
The Master replied that for several years, he used to sit under a large oak tree. He enjoyed the shade, and the soothing feeling the breeze would give. Then a huge storm came, and splintered the tree, while the willow tree survived.
The Apprentice was surprised. He thought the large oak tree would've lasted longer then willow tree.
The Master replied, "While the large unbending oak shattered under the force of the wind..... The weaker willow tree was able to bend with the wind, and survived."
The Master closed his eyes and went back to enjoying the cool breeze under the shade of the willow tree.
The Moral of the Story is that even the strongest most powerful Warrior will fall when he is too stubborn to "bend" to the situation.
