The journey here was terrible I must say. I left the castle stronghold with several gypsies guarding me and my possessions as we made our way to Budapest where I was to take a train to Calais and cross the channel to London. The train smelled of garlic and I knew the passengers had a sense that a strigoi was traveling with them. I kept to my compartment guarded by my most loyal servant Mogena. She and her husband Karl were the ones who brought me blood from time to time when I needed it (I always assumed it was animal blood) and Mogena had also become a donor to me when my need was great. Letting me take her in my arms and suck on her veins until I knew that she was nearing shock from blood loss. After I had my drink from her I would tenderly place her on the bed and watch over her until all danger had passed and she stirred - then I knew she would awake in the morning with no fears.



I detested the thought of flying over the great ocean so my servants arranged for me to take a steam ship over to New York City. The journey was horrifying. Rough seas caused the passengers to be sick, but I did take a handsome young man in my embrace while aboard. He wanted so desperately to stay with me that he became obsessed with me. He searched the ship for my cabin and harassed my servants insisting upon me accompanying him to the lunch service. That night Karl arranged a little "accident" for him and he was gone - just like that. I was sad for this but knew that he would have searched until he uncovered my secret – some men are that way and I pity them.



The cause of his demise was listed as Overboard - Lost at Sea...indeed.



When we arrived in New York, my what a bustle and flow was happening there. The streets teemed with motorcars, people and evil. I sensed evil thoughts all around me. To me, having been a vampire who was quite sheltered in her Carpathian Castle for just over a hundred years, this was too much. I screamed as I placed my hands over my ears to drive out the noise. Nothing helped but that I get out of this place.



Then, I sensed - for the first time in many, many years - another being such as myself and heard him whisper to me, "Let go little one, let go and the voices will subside." His gentle whisper allowed me to focus and let the voices go...it worked! But I could still feel them humming somewhere in the back of my brain - just waiting for me to pick one...follow one...to his death. I did just that. Mogena and Karl were stupefied as I brushed past them, out the door of the luxurious hotel where we were staying.
