Work was far better tonight then last night, the scar from Eleanor's passing will hang like a black haze our "home" but in time like the others it will too pass. Nothing significant to report other than I almost hit a stray cat that runs my neighborhood and that I will be off work tomorrow...but I have school. Guess there really is no rest for the weary...well happy haunting everyone!
Rest In Peace: Loosing a resident is always hard no mater how ready you are for it, it still hurts.
Today was my first day back to work in three days and I payed hell for it. Monday night, my resident is labeled a DNR (do not resuscitate) then Lynn and I were at the nurses station and simultaneously heard a female scream, like she might have fallen, we looked at each other and without even speaking we both tore off down the 400 hall much to our relief everyone was asleep but that was just the tip of the iceberg, the rest of the night was silent until, an angel of Darkness visited my Assisted Living Home Tuesday night and showed me and one of my Co-workers, Lynn (name changed for anonymity) who was going to be leaving this world. I was off Wednesday(14th) but I got the story later, my resident was hollering that she could not feel her o2 which was running quite well, so Lynn called CC Hospice who came out and evaluated her and said that she was in need of Morphine and Haldol (a pain killer and an anti-psychotropic), the meds came in a timely manner, and she was administered them. All well the rest of the day. Thursday (15th, 4am) She begins to scream once again that she could not breathe and that she was in pain, Hospice called again, o2 taken from 2.5 liters to a full 4 liters, over the phone, it took them until nearly 7am to get there...when the male representative arrived all he did was look at her and say "oh well she's sleeping now" 7am shift change, final rounds Lynn goes to my resident's room she's still warm but she has no heart tones and is not breathing, Hospice called again. She is pronounced dead.
Rest In Peace Eleanor Morris 4/16/2010
These last few days have been a tilt-a-whirl for me and not a very good one...I caught the allergy bug that led to a sinus infection and thus to a heavy dose antibiotic. I feel like I've been hit by a 18-wheeler. But like Frost says: life; "it goes on". My side hurts from a torn muscle that happened at work, lifting large people is not a bad thing for someone of my size, just not recommended when their weight nearly triples yours...I weigh a meager 125# and she was almost well 250 or so. Don't let me fool you though I love my job and would do it again if it meant her not falling and getting hurt. That's just how I am. A wolf never lets her family in harms way without it passing through her first. A proud Beta Wolf lies in my bed at night can you see her?
