The breeze whisked across the dead meadow, the brown growth moaning in protest as the empty caverns of the valleys howled. The animals, dead and gone, the heat lapping the last breath of each living animal and plant, which couldn't survive though smart enough to take cover. The sun dangerously close to the ground, the surface cracking under the depressive heat. The skeletal remains of the once living turning to dust as the hallow breeze whistled through.

The ground was a burning gold as the stems of what-was vegetation, dried and easily broken by a gentle touch of wind. The craters of dried and cracked earth, slightly darker from its higher brother. Ruins of what was houses, stores and work places stood crumbling as though thousands of years have passed. Metal frames of vehicles rotted away in a red dust, whipping around the lands of which used to sting the eyes of the once living.

Those who burrowed under ground tried to seek relief at night, though soon discovered the night was as bad as the unbearable day, nearly blistering their skin within minutes. Their moans and cries would last throughout the day, dark and light. There would be no relief for the suffering.

The once living couldn't fight through this heat, there was no cool shelter thick enough, couldn't drink the water, for it had all dried days before. They couldn't eat, for the strongest had survived, though on the last thread of life. What was considered food had passed into the realm of the dead the first few days of this unbearable misery of hell on Earth.

What had come to this dismal point of which all has deceased, to this unbearable nightmare? Where no creature or being lives, of no plants or water, or barely any earth was left? What had poisoned the once beautiful lands that were once full of prosperity, hope and a future, now turned into a forbidden wasteland?
