And then there was one ...

I am now the only person left at my table in chemistry. All others dropped out. For beginning chemistry, nearly half the class is gone. I'm holding on with a 78% but I still have two tests and a project to go. And I missed the "drop without penalty" day which sucks.

I will not be beaten by science!!!

I swear the people at megavideo can control the weather.

I spend an hour looking for a video of the movie Push that hasn't been removed. I finally find one but the audio has been cranked down to just slightly above being muted. So I lean in uncomfortably close to the PC to hear what's being said. Then, it starts raining. So I plug in the speakers. Then, the thunder kicks in.

I pause the video and the storm stops 5 minuets later. I wait 30 minuets for the video to buffer some more, then start it again, and when I do, the rain and thunder come back full force.

The things I go through for illegal movies ...

Still on my nostalgia kick, I decided to play Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem on the Gamecube and had a hell of a lot of fun playing it!

Graphics aren't bad considering it was made in 2002, almost 10 years ago and the storyline is interesting. Not as interesting as Assassins Creed but pretty close.

My favorite feature - and the game's biggest selling point - is how characters go insane and start hallucinating. There's a lot of different things that happen too. One of my favorites is when you enter a room and are surrounded by creatures and a controller error pops up on screen saying to insert the gamecube controller while you are getting mauled to death. None of the hallucinations actually kill you but they make you think they do for a few seconds. It's really cool.

Therese a sound bite I particularly like where a girl is getting cut up and she's screaming "NO!" at the top of her lungs while the blades chop away. Extremely fucking creepy.

Then there's the whole magic aspect. 4 different gods with their own variants of 12 different spells and they all have presidents over one another.

I forget the names of them but it goes like

Blue magic beats Red

Red beats Green

Green beats Blue

Purple beats them all

Purple is slightly annoying to get though, and its a bonus one so it can be missed if you're not careful.

Same goes for the enchanted sword.

I wish they'd make a sequel for the game. It was by far the best game on the gamecube in my opinion.

I love self fulfilling prophecies. They're my absolute favorite aspect of psychology/sociology. That's when we assume something is going to happen or someone behaves this way, and we inadvertently do things to cause our assumption to appear true.

An example from my high school days: I'm not good at math, so I'm not gonna waste my time studying, then I do poorly on my math exam. My assumption that I'm not good at math led to my action of not studying which led to a poor test score which confirmed my assumption, rinse and repeat.

Another good example of this is in the movie District 9. We assume the aliens are savages so we discriminate against them and force them out of society as much as possible. Because of this they are forced to live in squalor and scrounge around on the scraps of scraps to get by, which strengthens out belief that they're savages.

Mastery of space flight + development of DNA lock plasma weaponry = savages?

Sad part is that if a situation really happened - alien ship stranded on Earth - I fully believe we a a species would treat the aliens in the exact same way.

And fulfilling prophecies will be the real cause of the Apocalypse if one should ever happen. We think the world is gonna end, therefore we neglect the environment, Ozone altogether, then the atmosphere collapses and the world ends.

It's a fascinating part of the human thought process.

Heard the funniest radio commercial ever today! This quote isn't word for word but it's pretty close.

"Let's hear it for fire ants! ... I'm not hearing anything. Ya know why? Because fire ants are friendless heathens! *Don't remember this part* or use a flamethrower! *Don't remember this part* Put 1 tea spoon of *chemical* on the mound and watch the fun begin! You don't even need to water it in, it's that simple! The workers just carry it to the queen and say Hi honey I'm home, and by the way - you're dead!"

It's fucking hilarious.

Found an old favorite PS2 game of mine today: Freedom Fighters! It's a little scratched and glitches a little because of it but damn was it fun to play!

Storyline wise it's set in an alternate reality where not only is the USSR still in power, they're in the process of global conquest. The game starts with their invasion of the USA, specifically New York City and you play as a rebel working with the underground resistance in an effort to liberate the city, along with the country. It's a lot like what Homefront tried to do, only Freedom Fighters did it better.

I love the gorilla tactics of the whole thing: ambush an enemy facility, blow the shit out of it and raise the US flag before hauling ass out of there.

My rebel allies were kinda stupid for the most part though. ""Grenade! Oh, shiny - BOOM!"

"Red in my sights" *turns opposite way and sit there*

*sprints toward a mounted machine gun* "Where are they shooting from?"

But there was one moment in particular where they actually beat a heavy soldier to death which was hilarious. These soldiers are in full body armor - like head to toe - and berserk their way up to you laying on the trigger of an LMG. This one heavy ran into a hallway where I had all 12 of my rebel allies waiting and they proceeded to beat his brains in their their riles. It was awesome!

My favorite aspect of the game has to be the music. Jesper Kyd was the composer and also the same person to compose the soundtracks for the Assassins Creed games. It uses a mixture of electronic music and a male/female choir and sets the mood while getting you pumped up for a firefight. There's just something so epic about slowly pushing your way through a fire station to the sound of a damn orchestra.

Only down side is that the game ends abruptly. Which is why I wish they'd make a damn sequel already but the developers thought it was a better investment to create "Kane and Lynch" which I bet they're still regretting to this day. Way to shoot yourself in the foot IO.

Got a 100% on my sociology mid term on 2 hours sleep! That's a great feeling, despite being extremely irritable from lack of sleep.

Still having to fight for my life to maintain a C in Chemistry but at least I have sociology to show off my smarts.

Things are looking up for my game design hobby becoming an actual career!

Three words, well two words and a number:

Unity 3 Pro. Sure it's gonna cost me 1.5 grand - and shit is that a lot of money to spend on a license - it's worth it. I've spent the last week experimenting with the free version and the game that I've come up with has some serious earning potential, plus a few sequels. And the best part is, it's simple to code! Not so simple to draw which I need to find help with but the code in it self is simple, just a bit redundant.

This is a happy day for me. Shame my friends refuse to help me, they'll regret that come pay day.

Saw episode 1 of The Walking Dead today. Only a 6 episode season but each is apparently an hour long, or maybe that was just the pilot episode. Either way, I'm loving it so far.

But I have one thing to say regarding the episode, and that is "aw, poor horse..." On a related note, I am glad however to see other creatures on the zombie menu other than humans. But still "aw, poor horse..."

From a philosophical prospective, a zombie Apocalypse, or any Apocalypse where complete destruction is not 100% guaranteed. It's more of "the end to current social norms" than it is "the end of the world." Society still persists, but it's reset. Like hitting the global reboot switch. And it is that reason, more than any other, that I would welcome that kind of catastrophe disaster.

Also, back to the show. Look at the hospital scene on my zombie game script and then watch the hospital scene in the pilot episode of the show. Great minds think alike, yes?
