Rant regarding The Craft and Responsibility.....

00:15 Feb 16 2008
Times Read: 590

Ok, at the risk of sounding just like my mother, I need to get this out.

Witchcraft (or The Craft) is NOT a game! You do not get involved with this because you wanna be cool, spooky, powerful, to fit in, or because you wanna get back at people who've screwed you over. It is a SERIOUS study, meant for people who are willing to do the work the old fashion way. No, you can't just google or wiki some spell online and expect it to work. 90% of what's online is unreliable crap, mostly put up by people who know very little and want to act like they do. If you wanna know about The Craft, you have to hit the books. It takes YEARS, and sometimes you never find the answers. Some answers you will find when you are meant to. You don't e-mail a random stranger, who is busy for the most part, and ask them to do the work for you. Sorry, no. IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DO THE WORK YOURSELF, YOU ARE NOT READY OR MATURE ENOUGH TO BE PRACTICING THE CRAFT!

Keep in mind that for many years, this was a hidden art. Hence the word Occult, which means hidden teachings. They were hidden because for years those who practiced the craft were murdered by the powers that be. Only within the last 50 years or so, has witchcraft as we know it now been around.

The laws of the land now recognize that we have the right to practice The Craft as a part of our faith. That doesn't mean that we aren't victims of violence, vandalism, threats, ect. Parents have tried to have a child taken away from another parent for practicing the faith. Let's not even go into The West Memphis Three, who are still in jail for crimes they did not commit, but were thrown in jail for being pagan.

Ok, rant over.

ok, the meeting went astonishingly well. Everyone who had an issue had said issue handled. I feel that we've taken the first big step and that is good. I'll have to see where it goes from here.

We need change

I'm back. I've been gone for a while to handle my buisness. Not that my dayside is perfect, but it is stable. I cannot say the same for the sad state of affairs that the scene is in at this time.

I've spent some time with some serious thinking and meditation on the state of affairs in the HR area. I've come to this. We need to make some serious changes.

What do we have at this point? We have a bunch of houses, mostly honorable (even if they are not always lead by honorable people). These houses have spent time bickering back and forth, sometimes leading to violence. How does this reflect on the nation? Not well. I believe we are driving more away than we are helping.

My other concern is that (for the most part), we all agree to abide by the Black Veil. How can we say that we abide by this when we are breaking the Veil when we violate mundane law? When we commit acts of violence, not only are we not honoring the Veil, we are reflecting poorly upon ourselves.

Are we not all intelligent, civilized creatures? Can we not all work out our differences in a peaceful, civilized manner? If we can't do this we will never get anywhere as a nation.

Consider this. The only way we are going to get anywhere is through nonviolence. In theory, how can this be done? There needs to be some kind of organization in this area that is run locally. Not to insult the honor of the VC, but from what I'm gathering is that we are on our own. Ok, fine by me. But how do we keep tabs on some of the more problematic or power hungry? We give them a way to channel that energy into serving the community. What I'm getting is that there are those who want the titles, the respect, the ritual, ect. So I say let's give them that. Let's give them a way to work on that and earn such. In the meantime they study and stay busy.

We need something, where most (if not all) of the houses are willing to join, and can agree to abide by the BV, and possibly add the "Donor's bill of rights", Madame X's suggestions on "Community etiquette".

Above all, No more violence, no more threats, nothing. If people don't want to abide by the BV, or any other laws (to be decited on at a later time), fine. They can walk out the door. I'm not gonna waste my time with them. If they get in trouble down the line and the police come knocking, I'll be glad to point them in the right direction.

Before I go any further, are you willing to be a part of something bigger than yourself? Do you want the structure, ritual, titles, respect that come from serving the community?

Been busy for the last year. I needed to take some personal time off for a while to handle my buisness. I did what I needed to to, now I'm back to help deal with the sorry state of affairs that has become my local scene. More on this at another time.
