fangs haw, a try for DIY

21:48 Apr 23 2010
Times Read: 584

So, being bored (well and tired) after work I been looking at a ton of online video's and pages about making some fangs yourself.

Sure, they won't be as awesome as Dnash's, but 20 bucks in material's compared to 180 will give me a few tries :) In the end though, I'm waiting for my dental impressions to be made in something that either I can use to send to Dnash or Psykic.

The info

The most important part is getting some basic materials like Nail Acrylic (powder and liquid). Which, a few dentist's have agreed in various places, is pretty much the same stuff that they use to make temporary crowns/fillings with. It's very hard so that it can be thin and yet strong. Strong enough that if you treat them right they shouldn't break. The big downside is that it SMELLS when being mixed (I'm told).

There are two downsides though. Doing it yourself means it might take a few tries to get it right, using files and rotary tools might mess up a try or two. The second is that getting the color right is going to SUCK. The basic white is a bit yellowish white, but if that doesn't match your teeth, what are you going to do? I guess all you can really do is paint it, which might wear or chip off. The other option would be to get the powder before mixing colored right, wonder how you'd do that though.

Lenses 2, and fangs

17:41 Apr 19 2010
Times Read: 597

I went ahead and ordered me some lenses. In the end I went for the cheap ones, lets see how they look first.

I went for the FreshLook Colorblends Honey ones (you can see them here) . They won't give random passer-by's a hearth attack at least, and if I wanted I could wear them to work.

The blood red ones or the ones that last a year, I will have to keep for another time, once I feel more comfortable wearing lenses. Somehow nearly putting my finger in my eye doesn't really seem very nice to me, but I will get used to it I am sure.

Also called the dentist to have a cast made of my teeth so I can have some decent fangs made (instead of those annoying plastic ones that never fit right). It's going to be an expensive thing to get it cast into orthodentic stone though.

Better be worth it to have custom made fangs. At this rate I'll be around 150-200 euro before having a decent set..ouch.

Contact lenses

13:00 Apr 18 2010
Times Read: 605

In my ongoing search to look more like I want, I have been checking out contact lenses.

I must admit there are a huge, and I seriously mean HUGE amount of different contact lenses. From cheap to insanely expensive. From awesome to totally stupid.

Now of course, me being a vampire, I would have to go with traditional red lenses. Main problem with that is, no way can I wear those at work. I'd seriously upset people there, even if they are pretty relaxed at how others look. And in my spare time, do I really want to cause some grandma's hearth attack while I go shopping with my fangs in and those contacts?

Still "Angelic RED" or "Wild Eyes - Red Hot"/ "WildCat - Gearwheel" lenses do stand out for a very vampiric look. I am very tempted there.

So hmm, what other choices are there? Well I could go for the gold/honey ones. While I don't think the Twilight movies are that great the contacts they wear are cool. And on the plus side, my boss won't kill me, though they might look odd at me when they notice the color of my eyes changed :) Also no chance of grandma having a hearth attack if she sees those eyes.

They are also not too expensive for European standards, at emp-online.co.uk they go for about 20 euro a piece but they can handle about 3 months wear time.

The other option are Honey colored contacts from Freshlook, these are much cheaper (23 euro for a pair) but last only 14 days of wearing. The color looks more natural there, even if its not very Twilight.

custom teethcap makers don't exist in Europe!

22:09 Apr 17 2010

Why is it that good decent vampire teeth are so hard to come by in Europe? I have surfed the web far and wide but all I found are in the USA.

Not that it's a bad thing, it's just a bother to have to send my dental casts to them and go from a few pictures on a webpage and pray the teeth turn out the way I want.

I been looking at Dnash's page (http://www.teethbydnash.com) while they look stunning, so are his prices. Via the vampirerave database I've found psykic's fangs which are more reasonably priced, about half of Dnash.

So, finally time to throw away those cheap toothcaps, and order some custom ones. For those curious, I will go for traditional Vampire teeth, medium size (http://psykicfangs.sanguinarius.org/fangs/Traditional.jpg).

Now to get my dental cast made next week.

Hi, Danesh is a friend of mines and even if he wasn't I'd still say you get the quality of what you pay for! Good luck in getting the right shape of fangs for you :)

@xxEmaeraldxx

Of course you get what you pay for. I am not expecting the same quality teeth that Dnash can make for half the price.

Still though the difference between 175 dollars and 80 dollars is big enough (not even added the shipping) that Dnash's teeth are just out of my budget.

Ah the movies debate, just some ramblings

17:03 Apr 17 2010

Today I was pondering, once again I might add, the various vampire themed movies.

My taste might not be general, even for a vampire, but some people do have quite an odd taste for what they think are great vampire movies.

Perhaps it is me though, I prefer the funny or action or even romantic movies to the true horror movies.

Take for example Eddy Murphies "vampire in brooklyn". I think most people would disagree with me and say it's a horrible movie. I will be the last to deny it's a masterpiece, but if I'm honest I do still like it. It's funny and a bit tongue in the cheek. It ranks high on my list on favorite vampire movies, but I doubt it will be on many others.

Now a lot of people seem to like the Blade series. Now while they are mindless action movies, I find them bland and boring. Give me the underworld movies anytime. Blade is like Rambo with even more problems. Even the stories told in the various movies are, in my opinion, hardly interesting.

I guess the romance and sexual tension in the movies I do like is what makes me more interested in vampires then the mindless blood gorging / slaughter of some movies.
