Today was a good day, we all got to sleep in I didn't get out of the rack until 1115 or so. Then I went to chow and came back and hung out for a while. I grabbed the guys we play ball with and played a few games. The first game we beat them pretty bad so we switched up teams. The team I was on won the next two games we played. Then all the Staff went to chow, when we returned some of the Marines were playing volleyball. I went and played with them, we played three games and won them all. Navar comes back on Thursday so I will have some of the good guys back to play ball with. I wish we still had Curtis but after breaking his ankle they flew him out to Germany for surgery. So now we don't have a big man to rebound for us. Navar can shoot and dribble so Martinez and I will have to hit the boards. I think I am going to try to get another tourney going in a week or so.
Well we got to play dodge the mortars again last night, no rockets though. I only heard 4 impacts so they didn't throw much at us. Nothing like what they sent our way on Tuesday. I now have around 117 days left it they don't push our date back. Which they probably will, I wouldn't mind not leaveing Iraq until the 1st or 2nd of October, I would get the whole month tax free plus combat pay and separation pay so it would be worth the 2 extra weeks or so here. Then I will be stuck in Cali for about 14 days or so getting debreifed and ready to go back home to Texas.
Last night we ended up playing dodge the mortars again. They hadn't attacked in like 6 days until last night. They hit us with 4 that weren't real close and then about 10-15 minutes later they sent eight more our way. Some of these landed close enough to feel and rattle the windows. But it still wasn't any thing like the rocket they hit us with a week or so ago. It landed on the other side of our head quarters building between a couple of helos. It passed right over our barracks. I woke up when I heard a load whooooshhing sound then like 1-2 seconds later boom the whole building shook. There were a couple of others with it but that was the closest. I thought after the rocket went by that a mortar had landed on our roof to make the building shake like that.
