Chapter 10 – The Prison Opens

03:21 Jul 04 2026
Times Read: 11

The monastery shook harder than before.
Not from battle.
From below.
Every face turned toward the staircase.
A sound echoed upward.
Chains breaking.
One after another.
Metal screamed through the earth.
Lucien's face lost all color.
"No..."
Far beneath them...
A calm voice drifted through the stone.
"I warned you..."
"...they would come."
Another chain snapped.
The entire mountain trembled.
Cassian's smile vanished.
"What have you done?"
"I did nothing," Lucien whispered.
"The prison is failing."
The sanctuary floor split open.
Ancient cracks raced across the marble.
Dust exploded upward.
Deep below...
Crimson light flooded the darkness.
Eleanor heard Matthias laugh.
Not with joy.
With sorrow.
"So..."
"It begins again."
The final chain broke.
Silence.
Absolute silence.
Then...
A pulse.
Like the heartbeat of the earth itself.
Every vampire in the sanctuary dropped to one knee.
Even Cassian.
Even Lucien.
Only Eleanor remained standing.
She looked down into the widening abyss.
Two crimson eyes stared back at her.
Not with anger.
Not with hatred.
But with recognition.
Matthias spoke one final sentence before the darkness swallowed the monastery.
"Welcome to the story they never told you."
To Be Continued...

Chapter 9 – The Name of the Clan

03:19 Jul 04 2026
Times Read: 12

The silver-eyed vampire applauded slowly.
"Remarkable."
He bowed with mocking elegance.
"I suppose introductions are overdue."
"My name is Cassian."
"I speak for the Crimson Covenant."
The words struck Lucien harder than any blade.
"You should have stayed dead."
Cassian smiled.
"We all should have."
His gaze shifted to Eleanor.
"Do you know why you were truly created?"
Lucien answered first.
"No."
Cassian ignored him.
"Every few centuries..."
"One vampire is born differently."
"Not stronger."
"Not faster."
"Free."
Eleanor frowned.
"Free?"
"Free from the ancient curse."
He gestured toward the night sky.
"Sunlight."
"Hunger."
"The madness."
"Our kind has searched centuries for someone who could break the chain."
His smile widened.
"You are that someone."
Eleanor looked toward Lucien.
"Is he lying?"
Lucien hesitated.
Only for a second.
"No."
Her heart sank.
"You knew?"
"I suspected."
"And you never told me."
"I wanted you to choose your own life before others chose it for you."
Cassian laughed.
"Always pretending to be noble."
Then his expression darkened.
"You don't understand, Eleanor."
"If you refuse us..."
"We will simply take you."

Chapter 8 – The Crimson Hunger

03:18 Jul 04 2026
Times Read: 13

The smell reached her first.
Blood.
Fresh.
One of the attackers had been cut deeply across the arm.
Scarlet drops struck the stone.
Something inside Eleanor broke.
Her throat burned.
Her fangs descended without permission.
Every heartbeat around her became deafening.
No...
Not again.
She staggered backward.
Lucien saw it instantly.
"Eleanor!"
But it was too late.
The hunger drowned every thought.
She lunged.
Not at an enemy.
At the blood.
The wounded vampire laughed.
"There she is..."
"The true child of night."
Before she reached him—
A blue blur slammed between them.
Lucien caught her.
She struggled with impossible strength.
"Fight it!"
"I...can't..."
"Yes, you can."
She trembled violently.
Every instinct demanded she feed.
Lucien held her tighter.
"Look at me."
She did.
His crimson eyes were filled not with fear...
But faith.
"You are not your hunger."
The words pierced through the madness.
Little by little...
The craving weakened.
Her fangs slowly retracted.
The sanctuary fell silent.
Even the enemy vampires stared.
One whispered,
"Impossible."
No fledgling had ever stopped once the blood frenzy began.
No one...
Except Eleanor.

Chapter 7 – Blood in the Sanctuary

03:16 Jul 04 2026
Times Read: 15

The first scream echoed through the monastery like a prayer turned inside out.
Eleanor climbed the staircase despite Lucien's warning.
She stopped just below the sanctuary doors.
Moonlight poured through the shattered roof.
The ancient stained-glass windows had exploded into thousands of glittering fragments that covered the stone floor like frozen rain.
Three vampires stood inside.
None looked older than forty.
All carried themselves with terrifying confidence.
Lucien faced them alone.
His blue-lit sword rested calmly at his side.
"So," one of the strangers smiled, "the Butcher of Black Hollow still breathes."
Lucien answered quietly.
"I buried that man centuries ago."
"You buried nothing."
The tallest vampire stepped forward.
Silver eyes.
Black armor older than any kingdom Eleanor knew.
"We remember Alaric."
Lucien said nothing.
The vampire grinned.
"We remember every village."
Then he attacked.
The sanctuary erupted.
Stone shattered beneath impossible speed.
Steel rang like thunder.
Lucien met every strike without hesitation.
Not graceful.
Efficient.
Every movement carried seven hundred years of experience.
Yet he wasn't trying to win.
He was buying time.
Another attacker slipped past him.
Straight toward Eleanor.
She froze.
Until instinct took over.
The world slowed.
She heard every heartbeat.
Every footstep.
Every breath.
She moved without thinking.
The vampire's claws sliced empty air.
Eleanor had already stepped aside.
Too fast.
Even she hadn't realized she'd moved.
The attacker stopped.
His eyes widened.
"She's awakening..."
A smile spread across his face.
"Excellent."
