Prologue
He’s crouching in the shadows of 1985 high above on the roof of an abandoned building across the street from Central Park. Watching and waiting for her to come. And there she was, 22 years old walking through the park with her long, radiant, brunette hair lying silky smooth at the curve of her waist. A black, not quite knee length skirt with a red shirt that cross tied down her back is all that she wore.
Chapter 1
Seleen had just gotten off work and ran into this man in the ally on her way home from work. She worked at a bar in the evening because of her fascination for night life. Seleen also went to college during the day, majoring in ancient history and mythology which she intended on teaching to high school students after college.
After having an extremely long day at school and a very eventful night at work Seleen took the shortcut through the ally to get to her house. It was a jet black, moonless night. And as she walked the ally alone she began to get an odd feeling in her chest and stomach as though someone was following her. Naturally she began to walk faster. Out of nowhere this man appeared; she ran right into him. Being as it was so dark she could barely see this stranger that she had collided with. However, she looked up anyways. He was a good foot taller than her with dark hair that hung down to his shoulders. His eyes seemed to glow in the night and for a slight second put her in a trance that demanded silence and utter respect. Seleen stared into his eyes for a moment longer and when the trance was broken apologized for colliding with him and went on her way, half expecting him to stop her and strike a conversation and fully hoping for it. But he didn’t, merely stood in the shadows watching her as she went about her night; disappearing within seconds, before she looked back, as he knew she would.
After climbing three flights of stairs Seleen reached her cozy two bedroom apartment. Slightly in daze, she went into her bedroom, took off her heels, slid her cloths down her body letting them drop to the ground without a care, let down her hair and as it dropped to the bottom of her lower back sunk into her bed. As she dazed off from reality to dream world one thought and only one ran through her head, “I wonder if I’ll ever see him again.”
She was walking through the park alone. Felt the excitement run through every bone in her body but didn’t know why then he appeared from the shadows. Swept her away and she was flying through the air in his arms. When they landed she had no idea where they were or what had just happened. The only thing she did know was that she was drowned in excitement and wanted nothing more than to feel his warm embrace. He took hold of her against the wall and as their mouths met it felt like fire surging through her body, she surrendered to him with not a word said. Then she felt the sharp pain on her neck and the blood trickle down…
When Seleen woke the next morning she laid in bed for nearly 20 minutes thinking about the craziest dream she’d ever had, the excitement, thrill, adventure, and passion of it all. Yet she knew it was impossible. Then she found a note lying on her bedside table, it read:
To my beauty,
On an evening of your choice meet me at Central Park.
Sincerely,
The stranger of the night
Shocked and confused as to how he was going to meet her there if it was any night she laid the note down. Than she realized he must be watching her. Feeling a bit worried she decided she wasn’t going to meet this stranger. Therefore, she got out of bed pulled on a button up, baby blue shirt, a pair of black dress pants and went into the bathroom; she pulled her hair up in a bun put on some mascara and looking somewhat sophisticated headed off toward school.
That morning was her mythology class. They had begun speaking of the mythology of the ancient religions such as the Aztecs, Mayans, and the Pagans. When they got to the Pagans, vampyres somehow came into the conversation and became a great debate.
“They have existed for centuries don’t you idiots ever read!” a young passionate man from her class blurted out.
“Of course we read, you dim rot and it all makes for a great fictionist story.” A small lady that never really got involved replied. Seleen sat quietly and observed every opinion. Then got curious and decided to research further into the ancient religions and most of all vampirism herself.
After class Seleen went to the library and began reading every book she could find on the subject she was determined to learn. She came across a book called Creatures of the Night, which really caught her attention. it began by talking about the myth of vampires; how they couldn’t be in sunlight, that they tend to stick to the shadows, a stake thru the heart will kill them, at one point they were human, they can’t bear children unless they are only half vamp, they’re fast, intelligent, seductive, passionate, and immortal creatures of the night. Then it really caught her attention… it began talking about the ‘old ways’ the time when monarchy ruled and there were kings, queens, masters, and slaves.. It spoke of how powerful ‘master vampires’ are and how they used to rule each other in the monarchy ways even after the century had taken a turn and society no longer believed in such ways, until the falling out during a great war. After a couple hours of silent devouring of the book she went home, showered, pulled on a leather skirt a tight red shirt and her boots, grabbed the note that still laid on the bedside table and headed toward the bar down the alley, hoping to run into the mysterious man who had left the letter somehow on her table during the night. To her disappointment, He wasn’t there.
At work Seleen began thinking that maybe this man in shadows that shows up out of thin air in a dark alleyway then leaves a letter behind was a vampyre. Being so deeply in trance within her own mind she became distant at work and slowly did her job; she wasn’t dancing and barely paid attention to her customers. Her manager noticed instantly as this was extremely unlike her. She told her to go home and get some rest.
Seleen left and that curiousness hit her so she walked to central park. Having no idea where to go in the park she just continued to walk when that uneasy feeling in her chest and stomach came back. She felt as though someone was sticking their hand inside her chest and playing with her heart, debating whether to rip it out or not. The feeling made her queasy to the point where she was about to collapse. She walked slowly to a stone bench that looked as old as time itself and sank onto it, not even realizing the cold as it crept through her body. When she regained control of her body she took the letter out of her bra and began reading it again. Then started to think, “I must be crazy to think he’d show up. This is just some sick twisted joke,” yet she continued to sit there taking in the aroma of the evening in the park.
In the shadows he sat on the roof staring down at this beauty. She looked so vulnerable just waiting there. She had let her curiousness take control. Her long for adventure coming out and she waited in anticipation there on that stone in the deep of the park. Confused as to how she could have thought such things, yet longing for it to be true, for the dream to come to life. This young, strong, confident lady and she was down there, waiting for him. Just as he had asked her to do.
“I’ll make her wait a bit longer, gets that anticipation going and as it drops make my appearance” he thought to himself as he watched this beauty below him.
Seleen looked around and still there was not a soul. She finally got up to leave, slightly disappointed when this feeling comes that she’s no longer alone… instantly she felt arms wrap around her waist and fingers clasp at her pelvic bone. Seleen turned around and there he was, this man she’d waited for. A sweet almost shy smile broke out on her face.
“Pleased to see me, Seleen? If I recall correctly you didn’t believe I would show up. Now why is that?” Suddenly she was at a loss for words. He flashed a seductive smile, offered his hand, “come with me.” With not a thought she took his hand. Her hand in his she let him lead her away. He took her up six flights of creaking wooden stairs in a 50 year old abandoned building. When they reached the roof he crouched on the edge. Seleen stood behind him, amazed by the view of the entire city, “Is this where you spend your nights?”
“Yes, my dear, it is. I watch and observe every detail of this retched society and occasionally confuse young ladies such as yourself.”
“Are… you a… vampire?” she managed to stutter out. The man stood, “you have no right to ask that” he said in that slick, smooth voice.
“Oh I do so, who or what are you!” she demanded. Irritated he lifted her off her feet pulling her but an inch from his own face, “That, dear, is a secret you shall never know.” After dropping her he turned and continued crouching on the ledge. Seleen came up behind him and whispered in his ear, “Sorry for offending you” then gently kissed him on the neck. With not even the turn of his head he replied, “You’re forgiven this time, don’t let it happen again.” Noting his frustration Seleen began to leave. “Seleen stop!” Instantly she stopped dead in her tracks and began walking toward him. He stood with a smile on his face; “Now where did that confidence go” there was no reply from the young Seleen. “Come sit with me” Seleen obediently sat on the ledge at his side.
In quiet they sat for quite some time until Seleen broke the silence, “why me? Out of all the people…”
“Because I knew you’d come. You’re not scared, you’re curious, longing for a good adventure and after that dream I sent you I just knew you would come” she glared at him than he continued, “ you’re free to leave but we both know you won’t do so.”
After a moment of silence he grabbed and bit her neck. Not hard enough to break skin but enough to shock her. She felt fangs scrape over her skin and at that point all control went out the window; she grabbed him by the hair dragging his mouth to crash on hers. Gently at first then as his tongue reached its way in her mouth she bit. Blood ran through their mouths. Slowly, but firmly, he untied the back of her shirt causing it to slip right off leaving nothing but flesh. In return she pulled his off as well. Seleen began kissing him from ears slowly down to pelvic bone then gradually moved back up and bit his chest. Shocked and excruciatingly turned on he pushed her and pinned her to the ground. Smiling he said “now look what I’ve brought out in you. But you’re not in control any longer.” He began biting her ear and neck and slowly kissed down the middle of her stomach. He smiled in satisfaction when her muscles tightened and she began biting her lower lip. He kissed down to her waistline then began unzipping her skirt and within a matter of seconds’ seleen was lying exposed and pinned to the ground.
Seleen tried to grab him and roll him over, “now, now my dear I’m in control, remember. You started it, now you mustn’t fight what you know you want.” With that Seleen was silenced. The man smirked and began kissing her inner thighs; her entire body tensed. He continued until she could feel him on the outside of her; teasing her. She began to claw his back and in return he gently bit outside her, just enough to surprise her, “now none of that. Let’s play a game… I want you to relax your entire body, no tensing at all just give yourself totally to me and to be silent. Tense or make a sound and I stop.” With that he continued, she felt his tongue stroking the outside of her and began breathing deeply in desperation not to tense her muscles. Then his tongue hit her perfectly causing an amazing sensation resulting in her legs shaking and the beginning of a sensational orgasm. Her back began to arch, “don’t” she heard, “give yourself to me, relax, it will feel amazing.” Afraid he may stop she let her back fall and began biting her lip to the point of drawing blood. So far she had managed not to make a noise and slowly give herself to him.
His fingers slipped in so easily and moved with such experience and ease. He could feel the soft inside of her and was having such a time playing with her. The reactions she gave while trying so desperately to obey his not so simple demands.
She felt paralyzed, everything was so tender and simulated when he turned her on her side, slightly snapping out of paralysis, she realized what he was doing… she felt the cold of metal and was slightly scared yet so aroused. She was a virgin anally and didn’t know what to do. In absence of thought she just lay there obeying his every silent wish. The first went in and she fought like hell not to scream also realizing the relaxing she had done earlier really helped with her current situation. After a minute the second went in. Seleen was shocked; she had two balls, roughly half the size of a egg, in an area that had never been used. As he rolled her back over a shocking sensation she’d never felt in her life appeared as the balls rubbed together hitting soft spots she’d never known existed.
He then continued by kissing her thighs and slowly working his way up to feast. Her body just gave way and let it’s fluids roll in full on orgasm, her back arched with no way of stopping, “ohh” she moaned. He stopped, “so you would like me to leave.” He got up and turned to walk away, “no, please. Don’t leave. I’m sorry. I couldn’t help it.”
“Tell me what you want right now!” Seleen remained silent; he turned to leave. “Okay!” she yelled.
“Tell me, now” she was quiet for a minute. “If I have to tell you again, I won’t come back.”
“I want you to fuck me! There are you happy?”
“I’m not happy with your tone, but I’ll accept it.” He helped her up, “walk to the door” as she walked she felt those balls rub together against her insides and her legs went to jello.
“Walk!” he shouted as she went to her knees.
“I can’t”
“You will, now!” his voice seemed to boom in echoes through the night that sent chills down her spine. Fighting to obey she gathered her dignity and every bit of strength she had to stand.
Seleen fell at the door. The man slowly, silkily glided to her and with not even a touch pulled her up. “Push those out my dear. I want you all to myself. I’ll even allow you one scream.” With not a word Seleen began pushing and the feeling was so overwhelming she collapsed, again.
By the time they were out she was against the wall panting but he wasn’t done with her nor was she with him. He stood in front of her and she began taking off his pants. When they were both exposed in the early twilights of morning he held her hands against the wall and was in her fully. Seleen was paralyzed instantly. He had to hold her up. After half hour of that he moved her in front of him and slowly but firmly went in from behind. Seleen reached behind him to claw his back. When he finished they lay down, naked, together and fell asleep.
Seleen woke in her bed, confused as to how she got there. “That couldn’t have been a dream” was all she thought as she laid there in a silk robe that didn’t belong to her. As she reached to her nightstand to flip the light she felt the note:
I knew you’d come through. And you got what you were longing for.
Sincerely,
The stranger of the night
Chapter 2
For two months Seleen went to school and work. She acquired her teaching license, taught during the day at an alternative high school from noon until five and worked in the bar at night. She didn’t need the money from both jobs however both were her passion, her life, her love. What she didn’t see was that all that was about to change and there would be a new passion in her life other than her work and girlfriend she’d had for the past year.
As time passed Seleen began to get weak, sleepy, just all around not herself. Her manager of the bar, Amy, made a doctor appointment for her knowing in her gut something just wasn’t right.
She waited in the humid heat of the doctor’s waiting room with fish tanks the size of walls and kids running everywhere. After an hour of magazines with near naked models and screaming the nurse came out, “Seleen?” she threw down the magazine with relief and followed to the much smaller room. The doctor took tests, and she waited. Not knowing what the hell was taking so long. Irritated that she had been in that room nearly an hour as well and was late for her night job though her manager was the one that had sent her there in the first place… “Congratulations!” the doctor walked in.
“For what” Seleen responded.
“You’re pregnant, with twins.”
“What the hell. Are you serious? I can’t be.”
“Well you are 8 weeks along so you better start believing it. I’ll make a follow up appointment with our gynecologist, if that’s alright with you.”
“Yes, of course; anything for my…children.”
“Good, we’ll call you in a few days with the date.”
“Thank you.” Seleen walked out on auto pilot caught a cab and went to the bar. Still in daze when she walked into the bar and holding her stomach, “What happened” Amy said as she walked to meet her at the door.
“I’m two months pregnant, with twins.”
“What the hell, when did this happen?”
“Two months ago” Seleen replied sarcastically.
“You know what I mean, smart ass.”
“The night you sent me home because you thought I was tired. Truth be told I don’t even know the guy’s name and haven’t seen him since. But it was an interesting night.”
“Holly shit. Does Rikki know?”
“No. I didn’t know how to tell her I’d gone and had sex with some guy I met in an alley and that I don’t even know his name.”
“Well now you have to. You’re pregnant, Seleen.” Amy waved her hand, “Rikki, come here.” Rikki walked over to the two of them, “Ya?”
“You two are going on break. I’ll cover in here. You need to talk.” She looked at Seleen, “I’m doing you a favor take as long as you need.”
The two walked out back, hand in hand, and sat down on two crates in the back alley of the bar. Seleen lit a cigarette for Rikki, “Here, you’ll need it.” Worry exploded in Rikki’s eyes instantly, “Babe, what’s going on? You’re worrying me.”
“Well, there’s no easy way to say this and I know better than to beat around the bush with you so I’ll come right out and say it… I’m two months pregnant, with twins.”
“What the hell, this happened two months ago and you never told me.”
“Sor…”
“Now you have to tell me all the details,” Rikki replied cutting her apology off with a wicked grin on her face.
“Okay, well it started when I was walking home from work…”
Over an hour it took to tell the full story to her lover; her stomach doing cartwheels the entire time for fear of pissing off Rikki, or worse, hurting her.
“Wow, and you never saw him again?”
“No, he just disappeared, and now I’m pregnant with his children. But on the plus side it was exciting and we’ve both wanted kids for a while.”
Rikki laughed, “Yes I guess that is true, but please, no more secret sex stories. I’m not mad at you this time but you know I think of this, of us, as a serious relationship and I don’t appreciate you running off with some guy.”
Seleen lowered her head, “I know, and I’m terribly sorry, he just drew me in. I don’t know how or why but he did. It won’t ever happen again. I’m yours and yours only, promise.”
“Well I know how and why but we’re not going to go into that. I’m glad your mine and I am yours as well. Now lets get to work it’s getting busy in there. And no drinking.” Seleen laughed, “Yes ma’am.” The two walked back in the bar smiling and laughing. Then Amy smiled as well, knowing they’d worked things out.
The bar was packed and the music loud. They looked at each other and smiled, “let’s have some fun!” Rikki shouted over the noise and climbed up on the bar then held a hand for Seleen. “Lets” Seleen replied and took her hand up to the bar. The second she was up she was whipped in front of Rikki and dancing up against her. The men were going crazy as the girls belly danced together in their small leather skirts and shirts that showed half their beautiful stomachs. Their curves fit so perfectly together as they rolled apart and together again up on the bar, like the last two pieces of a puzzle. They held each other up there like they would never let go.
After a few hours the bar calmed down. Around three a.m. the girls went home. Rikki drove Seleen home and stayed the night.
“Late dinner?” Rikki asked as they walked through the door, “I’ll cook.”
“Well I guess I can’t refuse your cooking.”
Seleen was upstairs changing into her black and purple flowered pajamas. Looking in the mirror she realized the change in her body complexion. Saw her hair the same as usual just flowing down her body, her eyes speaking everything she didn’t but her breasts had grown more curve and her stomach had started to grow a bit. And there she stood hand on belly entranced in the mirror.
“Seleen, get your ass down here and eat!” with that Seleen rushed downstairs.
As they both laid down in bed Seleen looked at Rikki, “Do you think we should get a house together?”
“Well it would take a lot of planning, but I would love to.”
“May we start the plans tomorrow?”
“Of course, but for now we need rest, it’s nearly five.”
Chapter 3
“Well that’s all the stuff” Rikki dropped her last box in Seleen’s living room. “I can’t believe I’m renting out my house. And for 800 a month”
“I know it’s great.”
“So I figure with the income from the rent plus what you and I both make at the bar and your teaching we should be able to buy the house you wanted to go look at today.”
“Well than let’s go look at it and see what we can bring the price down to.”
“Sounds good,” Rikki replied. They locked up the two bedroom apartment leaving the piles of boxes there untouched and caught a cab.
“We also need to get a car,” Seleen began on the half hour drive out of town to the house.
“Yes I know. We’ll go car shopping sometime this month.”
And both went silent as the scenery began to change from city to country. The leaves were beginning to change in the September weather. Greens, reds, yellows, oranges all blended together on endless rows of trees. Green land and crops stretched as far as the eye could see.
“Are you sure you want to live out here. It’s a half hour drive from town and work?” Rikki broke the silence.
“Yes, I know. But look at this. It’s so beautiful; just wait until we see the inside of the house before you get skeptical. Please.”
“Alright, if you insist, but it’s only because I love you.”
“I know, and I thank you, for being patient with me.” Seleen gave her a hug strong enough to lay her on the seat and it did. They spent the next few minutes of the drive with Seleen atop Rikki, mouths clashing with the rhythm of the car.
“Um, excuse me ladies… sorry to interrupt but we’re here.”
The girls laughed at the look on the drivers face.
“Thank you,” Rikki handed the driver cash and he was on his way.
“I know it looks small from the outside,” a sales lady said as she came up from behind the girls. Black Business suit on and clipboard in hand, “But let’s go take a look inside, I think you’ll like it.” Rikki said nothing as she saw the pale yellow house. The window shutters were broken and hanging off the hinges, one of the steps leading to the front terrace had a hole in the middle of it. The front yard was nothing but dirt and sagebrush.
“You promised you wouldn’t be skeptical until after you see the inside, remember,” Seleen said as they began walking towards the house and she saw the look on Rikki’s face.
“Okay, you’re right. Sorry.”
“Be careful as you walk up these stairs ladies,” the sales woman said as she stepped around the hole in the middle step and unlocked the padlock on the front door. When they walked in Rikki was nothing less than astonished. The first thing in sight was a roundabout staircase that led upstairs. The wood was chipped and looked as old as time itself but that could be changed. As the sales woman led the girls through the house Rikki slowly realized why Seleen was fixed on this house. It was incredibly old and had character. There were three bedrooms upstairs including a miraculous master bedroom with a patio outside of beautiful mahogany double doors. Also there was what looked like a sitting room and a parlor downstairs.
“Can we have a moment,” Rikki said to the sales woman.
“Of course, I’ll be waiting outside.”
“I can see why you want this house but you do realize it will take every ounce of our spare time to fix this place up before the children decide to come into our lives.”
“Yes, Rikki, I do realize that. Amy has offered to help and I’m sure we can get a few other people as well. If your willing to do this with me. We could really fix up this place. Turn the two rooms down here into guest rooms. Each kid can have their own room. It’s perfect.”
“Okay if you really want to do this I support you completely.” Seleen jumped on Rikki with excitement. Both laughed as they went crashing to the floor.
“Is everything okay,” the sales lady came running in the front door to find the girls on the floor laughing so hard they couldn’t speak.
“Oh, yes,” Seleen got up and helped Rikki, “we want to buy the house. What’s the lowest you can sell it to us for?”
“Well we’ve been trying to get this house sold for 20 years so I can give it to you for ten grand.”
“Really!” Seleen practically yelled in excitement, “I can buy it today.”
“How do you plan on doing that?” Rikki said a bit shocked and upset.
“Well, I’ve been putting money away since I was fourteen. I have about 15 grand,” Seleen replied.
“And you didn’t tell me!”
“I’m sorry; I was going to surprise you. It will give us enough to buy the place and start fixing it up.”
“If we plan on having lives together you can’t just go around with hidden accounts. I don’t like people lying to me and you know that.”
“I’m sorry, it won’t happen again.”
“It had better not.”
“Umm… sorry to interrupt but… ah do you think you ladies can come down to the office to sign the papers then I can legally give you the keys and it will be yours,” the sales woman uncomfortably broke in.
The look in Rikki’s eyes silenced Seleen before she had the chance to think of a response.
“Yes of course we can shall we ride with you or call the cab to follow you?” Rikki responded.
“You can ride with me. That would be fine. If you two don’t mind.”
“That would actually be much appreciated, thank you.”
Chapter 4
Eight and a half months later a beautiful house stood. White with pale yellow trim and light brown shutters on all windows, as you walked in the floor had been redone with cherry wood. The wood was a dark brown slightly maroon color and matched magnificently with the mahogany staircase and doors. The two rooms downstairs had been turned into guest rooms, both with double doors. Each had a four poster bed that stood close to three feet off the floor one with white transparent drapes surrounding the bed the other with black. Two lovely nurseries had been created upstairs just down the hall from the master bedroom. Neutral colors were set in both as Seleen hadn’t wished to know the sex of the children. Cedar wood cribs, hand crafted had been placed in both rooms. The house was indeed magnificent and the character still remained, yet any passer by would think it brand new. They would never know it had been built just over 100 years ago.
In those few months Seleen and Rikki’s relationship grew as quickly and strong as a raging storm. They grew and learned from each other day in and day out. Practiced breathing for the birth with Amy, the midwife they had chosen. Reconstructed a 100 year old house together and prepared to start their family. Everything went so well. They had their ups and downs as every relationship does however for the most part enjoyed each others company. Than life decided it was about to change.
“Rikki!” Seleen screamed, “My water just broke.” Rikki ran upstairs to the master bedroom to find Seleen on the floor in the walk in closet.
“Come on, we need to get you on the bed” Rikki helped picked Seleen up in a cradling form and carried her to the king sized, four poster bed. I’m going to go call Amy. Within minutes Amy was there coaching Seleen, “You need to breath and meditate like we practiced. Relax every muscle in your body.”
“Easy for you to say! You aren’t having contractions every four minutes.”
“I know dear, but if you relax it will make things so much easier.”
“Oh, shit” Amy said.
“What,” Rikki left Seleen’s side and went down to where Amy was as Seleen’s waist.
“One of the babies is turning. They’re going to come out breach if they don’t turn back and that’s not good. Seleen we might need to take you into the hospital.”
“Fuck that! I’m not having these children in the hospital. So figure it out.” Amy looked as Rikki with questioning eyes.
“You heard the lady; I will not force her to go to the hospital so we’ll have to figure this out.”
After six hours of contractions Amy was about ready to drag Seleen to the hospital when she saw a head pop out. “Seleen I need you to push one big push, the first baby is coming out now.” Seleen squeezed Rikki’s hand so hard she nearly crushed the bones in all her fingers. And at three in the morning on May second the two Taurus babies were born; a boy and a girl. Seleen held both her children, “Damion and LeNay” She said as she stared into the powerful eyes of her children.
“Yes, it’s perfect” Rikki said as they fell asleep on the bed with their new family.
Chapter 5
Five wonderful years passed as if they were days. The children and grew rapidly as did the parents. Before age one Damion was walking, at age three he was speaking in comprehendible sentences. LeNay followed not far behind; at age one she was walking and at age four was speaking in sentences much better than most children her age. At age five Seleen and Rikki were taking their children to enroll them in first grade. The children were of such a high intelligence level that they became too bored in kindergarten.
“Mama Seleen we really go to school!” LeNay said as she bounced up and down in the backseat with her new purple backpack.
“Duh, stupid, or we wouldn’t be in the car,” Damion said as he hit her in the arm.
“Oww!! Don’t hit me!”
“Damion!” Rikki yelled as she drove, “don’t you dare treat your sister like that. Do you really want to start the day like this?”
“But mama it’s a stupid question.”
“No question is stupid, Damion,” Seleen broke in, “now I don’t want to see you treat your sister like that again or their will be repercussions.”
“What do you say” Rikki said.
“Yes ma’am” Damion mumbled.
As they filled out the paperwork for the children they had the kids wait out in the hall.
“What is the father’s name?” the counselor asked.
“The father is not in the picture” Seleen replied, “Rikki’s name will be on the contact list as the alternate contact. She is their mother as much as I am. Also I want to make sure that we are the only two people that can come and pick them up from school. If their father does come, I don’t want him to be able to pick them up. Though I don’t believe he will, he doesn’t know they exist that I know of.” Astounded the counselor said, “Okay we can make sure that happens. Well just sign this and you can go on your way. The kids are in the same class and the teacher’s name is Mrs. Crane. Her classroom is straight down the hall five doors to the left. There are hooks outside the door along the hall wall where they can hang their jackets and book bags.”
“Thank you, it was nice meeting you,” Rikki said as she stood and shook the counselor’s hand.
“Kids, come on. We’ll walk you to class,” Seleen said as she and Rikki walked out of the office hand in hand. Five doors down was a classroom with a purple flower, red sun, and yellow grass picture hung on the door.
“Mama Rikki, that a pretty piture,” LeNay said over enthusiastically.
“Yes my dear it is beautiful.”
“Okay kids run along. Me or mama Rikki will be here to pick you up after school. Meet us in front of the school.”
Seleen opened the driver’s door to the silver mercury sable they had bought years before to be able to fit the children. It was an old car but reliable and had plenty of room.
“Thank you dear,” Rikki said with a smile on her face. She grabbed Seleen and their lips gently, passionately locked together.
“Your welcome,” Seleen replied when they unlocked, “may we head out though I will be late for work if we don’t.”
“Oh, yes of course. Let us go.” Seleen gently closed the door walked to the passenger side and let herself in.
“Alright,” Rikki began, “So I’m going to drop you off at the school, go to work I’ll pick up the kids from school before we get too busy at work and bring them back to work with me. You’ll meet me at work at five and we’ll get off around one in the morning.”
“Yes that sounds about right. The kids can go to the back lounge if they have any homework and play ‘till 9 than they can sleep in the back lounge ‘till we get off work.” Seleen sighed, “We’re just going to have to do this when we both work at the bar together which is damn near every night. But at least the kids like being there. I just feel like we’re bad parents, the kids spend half their day in the bar.”
“Oh, dear, we’re not bad parents. We love our children more than anything. We’re a happy family and that’s all that matters. The kids are happy, loved, and provided for. And we’re happy most parents can’t say they love their jobs and are happy, we can. So I would say we’re doing better than most.”
Seleen smiled, “thanks, I needed to hear that. You’re right. But very rarely are you wrong.”
Rikki laughed, “Thank you dear. Not that I’m cocky or anything,” she continued with a smirk that no one but Seleen would understand.
“Have a good day at work, babe,” Rikki said as they pulled up to the one story building that was small enough to be an elementary school; Though it was an alternative high school.
“Go teach those kids something.”
“Thanks babe, I’ll see you at five. Have a good day.”
Chapter 6
Seleen walked into her class full of depressed, distraught, abused teenagers. The children that had been told their whole lives that they wouldn’t make it, that they couldn’t go anywhere in their future besides the streets. Seleen disagreed and tried desperately to teach the kids that they were better than that, and that if they worked for it they could go anywhere.
As she walked in all the kids were slouched in their seats, boxers and thongs showing above their pants, none with the slightest interest in school. The kids in the back row were sleeping already; the reason for this was usually that they had stayed up all night working or taking care of the screaming children in their houses. The only reason most of them bothered showing up was because if they didn’t they would be sent to jail.
Seleen walked down each row and the kids sat upright instantly; she had earned a respect that most teachers never obtained.
“What are we studying today?”
“Como se dice?” a young Hispanic boy from Mexico asked his friend sitting next to him.
“Que estudiar ahora?” the boy next to him replied.
“So, my lovely students, I need an answer.”
“Nothing,” a student from the back row replied. He was a large muscular boy wearing a blue bandana on his head with blue jeans double his size, a white T-shirt and a jacked that puffed out double his size making him look much more intimidating than he was, “we want to sleep, I guarantee we all aint got any sleep.”
“You all didn’t get any sleep,” Seleen corrected him, “And I’m sorry about that, I understand you don’t want to be here but while you are in my class you will do something. If you have to come to school you minas well make the best of your time. You know, Antonio, knowledge is the best tool you can have and the only one that will get you the hell away from this damn neighborhood. And if you get lucky keep you alive.”
“What good English going to do us,” Antonio debated.
“Do you see the difference between how you talk and how I talk? If you continue to talk like you do you will never get a decent job, won’t be able to support your family and will be stuck here you’re entire life. That’s what good learning proper English will do, Now are you done arguing with me?”
“Yes ma’am,” Antonio said.
Seleen passed out a single sheet of paper to everyone in the class.
“Antonio, I would like you to read this to the class.”
“Teacher, you know I don’t read.”
“Take a look at what I’m asking you to read before you start with your bitching again. And don’t ask questions just read.”
“Teacher, this shit Tupac.”
“I said don’t ask just read, now”
“Some say tha Blacker tha berry
Tha sweeter tha juice
I say, tha darker tha flesh and tha deeper tha roots
I give a hollar to my sisters on welfare
Tupac cares, but don't nobody else care
I know they like ta beat ya down a lot
And when ya come around tha block brothers clown a lot
But please don't cry, dry ya eyes
Never let up
Forgive but don't forget girl keep ya head up
And when he tells you you ain't nothin
Don't believe him
And if he can't learn ta love ya, you should leave him
Cuz sister you don't need him
I ain't tryin ta gash up, but I just call ‘em how I see 'em
Ya know what makes me unhappy
When brothers make babies
And leave a young mother ta be a pappy
And since we all came from a woman
Got our name from a woman
And our game from a woman
I wonder why we take from our women
Why we rape our women
Do we hate our women?
I think it's time ta kill for our women
Time ta heal our women
Be real to our women
And if we don't
We'll have a race of babies
That hate tha ladies that make tha babies
And since a man can't make one
He has no right ta tell a woman when and where ta create one
So will tha real men get up?
I know your fed up ladies
But keep ya head up
Oooooh child things are gonna get easier
Oooooh child things are gonna get brighter
Oooooh child things are gonna get easier
Oooooh child things are gonna get brighter…”
“Okay stop there,” Seleen interrupted, “now you can ask your questions.”
“Why you have me read this?”
“Because for the next semester in this class we’re studying musicians; Tupac was a beautiful musician. Was he not?”
“Yes ma’am he was.” The bell rang loud and vibrant through the school.
“Class dismissed We’ll talk more about good musicians and their lyrics tomorrow, I want you all to look at the sheet I have given you and write a paragraph about what the words mean to you, due tomorrow,” with that the class left in an orderly fashion. Seleen gathered her things and flagged down a cab outside the school. As she opened the door a tall man stepped out and bumped into her.
“I’m quite sorry dear,” he said holding the door open for her, “have a good evening.”
Seleen went home to change into her jean mini skirt, thigh high boots and black bandana she used for a shirt; tying in back, before going to work at the bar with Rikki.
Chapter 7
Seleen walked into the bar to find Rikki dancing on the bar whilst pouring shots for poor pathetic men who spend their entire evenings watching the girls dance on the bar. She saw her children playing at the pool table; she could barely see them through the crowd however she knew where to look as that was their favorite thing to do when they were at the bar.
“Kids,” she said as she approached them.
“Mama Seleen!” LeNay ran and jumped on Seleen.
“How was your first day of school?”
“It good. The teacher real nice, and I color a piture for you. It in the car.”
“It is in the car,” Seleen said.
“That is what I meant.”
“Damion, how was school?”
“It was good. Mrs. Crane really is nice. We got to color and got spelling words, on the first day. But I like to spell so I no care.”
“That’s wonderful. Did you get your homework and supper over with?”
“Yes ma’am, can we play. I no want to stop.”
“Yes for a couple more hours, but be careful, understand. And when the men start getting drunk you two have to go into the back room to play.”
“Okay mama.”
“I’m going to go work now, you be good,” Seleen gave both a kiss and satisfied that both were safe joined her love on the bar.
“I have an odd feeling,” Rikki whispered to Seleen.
“I know, I think he’s back. I bumped into a man when I caught the cab home. And though I never really saw him when I heard that voice from the man in the cab I thought instantly of him,” Seleen whispered back as they danced entertainingly for the customers.
“Hello, Seleen” a voice came out of the shadows. Seleen froze and turned her head in the direction of the voice saw nothing.
“Did you hear that?” Seleen lipped to Rikki.
“No, what are you talking about?”
Suddenly a man grabbed Seleens’ ankle pulling her off the bar. Rikki jumped off and went off on the man, “What the hell is wrong with you! I’m getting security if you don’t leave this minute.” Seleen stood and looked Rikki in the eyes, “No, don’t. It’s him.”
Rikki looked into this mans eyes and saw her children. “Amy,” she said as she made a hand gesture toward Amy telling her to come over.
“Yes, dear,” Amy said as she walked smoothly toward the three of them, “what is going on?”
“Seleen and I need to talk to this gentleman. It is of urgent matter. Can you manage to hold down the place with the new girl helping you?”
“I can indeed. Take as long as you wish. I will watch the children.”
Rikki looked in Seleens’ eyes then the mans’, “Let’s go,” she said in a stern voice Seleen had never heard from her before. Both followed behind her with not a word said.
“Sit,” Rikki said. Seleen lit a cigarette for Rikki and obediently sat down. The man quietly chuckled.
“Oh my dear Seleen looks like you’ll always have someone to order you around. That’s good you need it.” Rikki eyed him, “don’t you talk to my girl like that. You know better. And if I believe correctly I said sit.”
His eyes burned cold and dark, “and you know better than to try to demand me around. I will accept your offer with the knowledge that you’re upset but you know better than to treat me in such ways.”
Rikki nodded in understanding, “I thank you. What are you doing here? You have no right to just show up five years later.”
He looked at Seleen, “so you got your dream family.” Seleen said nothing, the look in Rikkis’ eyes told her better though she didn’t understand why.
“You try that again and I won’t give you the privilege to explain yourself, Lord. We’ve established you know better.”
He turned away from Seleen not to look into her eyes again, “Yes, you are quite right. I do apologize for my inappropriate behavior. As to your question, My Lady, I merely wanted to see my children.”
“Lord, I appreciate your honesty but you know as well as I that they are my children. I have raised them with Seleen since they were born. And you will not get close to them. You used her, played with her emotions brought something out in her she didn’t understand for your own amusement. You don’t have a right to these children. I thank you for giving us a chance at a family, but you abandoned these children before they were born and you will not be a part of their lives now. Is that understood?”
“Yes My Lady, I do apologize for the inconvenience I have caused this evening. Enjoy your eve. I shall see you at another time.” With that he was gone into the shadows again.
“What was that all about?” Seleen asked in utter confusion as they walked in the back door.
“That is a long story, babe, I’ll have to explain when we get off work. Now let us go and check on the children, finish our shift, and get the hell out of here.”
Chapter 8
As the girls walked through the door they collided with Amy. “The kids…. Are gone,” she panted, “I’ve looked everywhere for them, I only turned away from them for a minute and then they were gone. I’m so sorry.” With that she walked to the microphone, “Everyone, I need you to leave. I’m sorry for the inconvenience but I have to close early. We’ll reopen tomorrow at the same time.” Within minutes the bar emptied until only Rikki, Seleen, and Amy remained.
Seleen sat in the corner, tears running uncontrollably down her face.
“Babe, calm down. We’ll find them, I promise,” Rikki said as she sat next to Seleen putting her arm around her in a comforting motion, “It’ll be okay.”
“How will it be okay? Our kids have been fucking kidnapped!”
Amy walked over to the girls, “I just got off the phone with the police. They said you have to wait 24 hours to file a missing persons report.”
“Bastards!” Seleen yelled, “My five year old children are missing! And they won’t do a damn thing!”
“I know,” Rikki said, “The government is horrible, so we’ll just have to find them ourselves.”
“Girls go home, and sleep on it. Don’t worry about work until you find your babies. You understand me.”
“Thank you, Amy,” Rikki got up and gave Amy a big, strong hug, “We will keep in touch.”
“You had better.”
“Seleen come on we really do need to get home.”
Seleen and Rikki did go home but they didn’t sleep.
“He took them,” Seleen said as they made a late supper at 3 in the morning.
“I know he did. He’s the only one stupid enough to do so. Do you know where he would take them?” Rikki asked.
“I have no idea; he’s extremely secretive and never tells anything. Damn it! Why’d I have to get myself mixed up with him?” Seleen said in frustration.
“Because he gave us two wonderful children.”
“Ya, which he’s now taken away.”
“Well everything happens for a reason, I guess it’s time to bring the past back. I hate to do this but it’s time,” Rikki replied.
“Rikki, what are you talking about?”
“You’ll see in the morning, now get some sleep.” Seleen found comfort in that and fell into a deep, dreamless sleep at Rikki’s side.
Seleen woke to an empty bed. “Rikki,” she called as she got out of bed, put on her black silk robe and head down the staircase toward the kitchen. Rikki was in the kitchen making eggs, over-easy, wearing a black velvet skirt that dropped to the ground with a maroon shirt that covered her as if it were a bra. A hooded, black velvet cloak covered her completely and the vibes Seleen felt when she walked into the room were powerful enough to knock her to the ground.
“Rikki, what is going on? I’ve never seen you dressed in such ways and when I walked in here the feeling I got was so… powerful.”
“Oh, good morning dear, if you must ask, the power you feel is the power I have neglected from showing you. It has been centuries since I showed my true power.”
“What are you talking about?”
“You shall see in time. I do have an idea why he took the kids; I’m surprised I hadn’t thought of it sooner. He has taken them to train; they are of the perfect training age.”
“Train? For what?”
“Well, my dear, you managed to sleep with a Master Vampire. That is why you were so entranced; he slept with you for sheer amusement. He wanted to turn a confident woman submissive, and he succeeded. He has taken the children to train them as their personality demands of them.”
“Rikki what the hell does that mean?”
“I mean that if the kids have a dominate personality, as Damion and LeNay both definitely do he will probably show them what it is like to be a master vampire and possibly start training as a demonic assassin.”
“Why the hell would he do that?”
“Because it is in their blood and he believes that they should stay true to their blood. He will teach them respect, loyalty, of masters and slaves. Teach them his way of life. My old way.”
“Wait, your old way?”
“I’ll explain later, sit and eat. Put on your red silk skirt with the corset you got last year for Halloween. Our ride will be here shortly so hustle please.”
“Who are you and what do you want!” Damion demanded of the master that had taken them. LeNay sat in the car crying quietly on Damion’s shoulder.
“My name is Randus, and I want you two. I am your father.”
“Am not!” LeNay yelled. Randus looked at her, a hint of anger in his eyes.
“LeNay quiet,” Damion said. LeNay looked into her brothers’ eyes, which she trusted with her life and laid her head back on his shoulder. Randus looked at Damion.
“Nicely done,” Randus said.
“Thank you, but that still doesn’t tell why you took us.” Randus sighed, “I’m a master Vampire. I’m taking you to my home in England to teach you the ways that you should have been taught since birth.”
“Great,” Damion mumbled he then looked Randus in the eyes, “You do realize our moms will be after you for this.”
“Yes I know, and I am prepared for when they arrive.”
The children were taken by surprise when they arrived in England as the cold nipped at them. They slept on the ride to the Castle on the hill.
“Master, we have arrived. Shall I take the children to their room.”
“No, you can tell the kitchen I want supper in the parlor in one hour.”
“Yes, master.”
“Why does he call you that?” LeNay said groggily.
“Because that is what I am. Now come along, I wish to show you the house before supper.” The children followed him as he showed them the parlor, dining room, library, throne room, the forbidden west tower, and the east tower where their room resided. As they entered the room two queen sized beds stood on opposite sides of the room. The one furthest from the door had maroon and black blankets on it and the other had red and black. Two dressers stood at the head of each bed and a chest at the foot of each bed. At the far end of the room there was a window 6 feet by 6 feet with black transparent curtains to cover it. LeNay spotted dolls on the bed furthest from the door; she ran and jumped on the bed grabbing the dolls and started playing as if nothing in the world was wrong. Damion looked up into Randus’s glowing eyes.
“Thank you for getting her the dolls but it still doesn’t change the situation.”
“Yes, this I know. I have gotten something for you as well.”
“Really?” Damion said with a hint of excitement. Randus pulled out a miniature katana.
“Is that really for me?”
“Yes, and I will show you how to use it tomorrow. I didn’t really think she needed to be handling a sword quite yet and knew she would enjoy the dolls much better.”
“You know my mom won’t be happy about this.”
“Don’t you worry about that. This is my wish and it will happen.” The look in his eyes changed to darkness. And Damion knew he meant what he said.
“Now you two get ready for supper. LeNay you hear me. You can play later.”
“What you mean get ready?” LeNay said without even putting down the dolls.
“There are dresses in your closet pick one, Damion there are clothes in your dresser. I expect you two down in the parlor in fifteen minutes.” Randus left before an argument could be made.
“LeNay, we had better do what he says, he’s nice but if we don’t listen he won’t be.”
“I don’t wanna.”
“Want to” he corrected, “How about I pick out your dress and you pick out my clothes.” LeNay’s eyes brightened.
“We get play dress up!” LeNay said in excitement. Damion laughed.
“Yes.”
“Okay.”
Damion went through the closet and pulled out a black dress with purple on the sides and purple strings that criss crossed down the front and back.
“How about this?”
“Ahh, that pretty.”
“Okay good. Here’s some black sandals to match. And you can leave your hair down.”
“Okay, your turn.” LeNay went through the dresser and pulled out a pair of black pants a red button up shirt and a black hooded cloak.
“I like the coat.”
“It’s a cloak and I like it too.”
Within fifteen minutes the children were walking down the parlor, Damion holding LeNay’s hand.
“You two look lovely.” Randus said as they walked in, “come have a seat.” LeNay sat right next to Damion on the sofa next to the fire.
“Are your accommodations adequate?” Randus asked Damion.
“What are accommodations?”
“Where you are staying.”
“Oh yes the room is great. Thank you.”
A servant girl walked in the parlor “Would you like a cup of tea, master?” she asked Damion. He got a look on his face like he was going to gag.
“Do you have hot coco?”
“Yes, of course would you like some.
“Yes, and one for LeNay too but she wants hers with milk please.” The servant girl disappeared within seconds. LeNay leaned over and whispered into Damions’ ear.
“Thank you.” Then went back to sitting quietly.
“You’re a quiet one,” Randus said to LeNay; she remained silent. Randus gave up on that and turned his attention to Damion.
After supper the children were sent to bed for rest. Two body guards were placed outside the door.
A black Lexus pulled up with a scrawny, pale, man driving. He wore black slacks and a black button up shirt making even a scrawny man such as himself look nice. As he stepped out of the drivers’ seat and opened the door to the backseat Seleen and Rikki walked out of the house.
“M’ Lady,” the driver said as he looked at Rikki and bowed his head, “how have you been?”
“Quite well thank you.”
The girls got into the car and they were off.
“Where to M’ Lady?” the driver asked.
“To the airport and make it quick our flight leaves in two hours.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Rikki, where are we going?” Seleen asked.
“Wait and see. Patience is a virtue my love.”
An hour later they had pulled up to a small private airport on the outskirts of New York. One small plane that by the looks of it would only fit six people maximum sat in the middle of the runway.
“Am I flying today, M’ Lady?”
“Of course, Andrew, I wouldn’t trust anyone else.”
“Thank you. If I may ask… who is this lovely lady you have brought with you?”
“Oh, yes of course, this is Seleen. She is my lover, and partner in raising our children. You had better treat her as you would me.”
“Of course, M’ Lady. Good morning Miss Seleen. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“And you as well. Now do we plan on leaving anytime soon?”
“Yes,” Rikki said, “Andrew the plane is prepped and ready to go so if you would get our bags we will be on our way.”
“Yes ma’am.”
Seleen gave up keeping track of time. She had no idea where they were going all she knew was that it was an extremely long flight. She slept most of the time. She awoke to the plane landing. It was dark when they arrived and Seleen still didn’t know where they were.
“M’ Lady, we have arrived. Are we to go to the house?” Andrew asked.
“Yes.”
It was cold, dreary, and raining in the August weather of London.
“Seleen, take this cloak. I brought it for you,” Rikki said as she pulled out a cloak identical to the one she was wearing. It will be chilly out there.
“Where are we?” Seleen asked.
“We are in London. We still have about an hour and a half drive to the house.”
“You have a house in London… that I never knew about.”
“Yes, I told you I have taken extreme measures to make sure that no one knew my past. When I met you… it was hard but I felt that it was something that didn’t need to be known. I’m sorry but that is just how it was. Then this situation arose and forced me to show you who I truly am. I may have lied to you but the feelings I have toward you and the life we have created are all real.” Seleen was not happy about this but then began thinking about the money she had stashed and not told Rikki about.
“I believe you and I guess now we’re even. But no more lies. Okay?”
“Yes, I agree. Now let us go home.”
Just over an hour later they pulled up to a dirt road hidden by luscious green trees. The road wound up a large hill, for 10 miles, that led to what looked like an abandoned castle from the twelfth century.
“Here we are ma’am, home again,” the driver said as he opened the door for the girls. Rikki helped Seleen out of the car and began walking to the door when she realized Seleen wasn’t behind her.
“Seleen, what are you doing? It’s raining, we need to get inside.”
“I’m looking at the view, look at this. Your ‘house’ has five towers, each with six gargoyles and they look so real. Like the ones from Notre Dame. You have four window shutters broken and hanging so I assume you haven’t been her in quite some time. It’s so beautiful, yet it looks so broken down. Do you really own this?”
“Yes I do, and you’re correct, I haven’t been here in a century.” Seleen’s eyes widened and you could just see the questions racing in her head.
“I know you must have questions, but can we please talk about this inside out of the rain.”
Seleen walked to the enormous seven by ten foot double doors where Rikki was and gave her a huge hug. Their lips barely grazed each others when the door swung open causing Seleen to jump at least 3 inches. A servant girl with long brown hair and a black skin tight, low cut, dress appeared in the doorway.
“Good evening, mistress. Welcome home, I knew you’d return some day. Come in, get out of the rain. Who’s your friend?” Rikki and Seleen walked in and followed the servant to the parlor. There was a fire raging in the fireplace. Two sofas, large enough to fit five people, sat against opposite walls of each other. In the middle of the room was a large oak wood table. And to complete the room two chairs sat next to the fireplace.
“Good evening, Anna, I thank you for keeping my home up so well. This is Seleen, my lover, partner, and mother of our children. You are to treat her as you would me. Understood?”
“Yes, mistress,” the servant girl who looked no older than 17 replied.
“Good, could you please get us some drinks?”
“What would you like?”
“I would like my regular extra blood please. It’s been quite some time since I’ve had that and as for Seleen a lime margarita, hold the blood. She’s not a drinker.
“Yes mistress,” and with a bow she was gone.
“Rikki, what is going on?” Seleen asked the moment Anna had left the room, “why is she calling you mistress?
“Come have a seat with me and I’ll explain everything.” Seleen followed Rikki to the sofa and sat in Rikki’s arms. Rikki lit a cigarette, “Here, this time it’s you that’s going to need this.”
“Okay to let’s start from the beginning. I’m not like you are. I’m not human. I’m a vampire and have been for two centuries. I was born this way and was trained a mistress vampire because of the immense power I contain. I received Anna at age five to begin her training as a servant. Only she was different, I couldn’t let her go when I was done training her. So I kept her, she has been with me since the 1800’s. I didn’t tell her she had to stay here when I left, she just did. Knowing I would come back one day. And she was right. Smart girl she is.”
“Why didn’t you tell me before?”
“It’s a part of my life I haven’t been back to for nearly a century. I’ve never needed to bring it up until now.”
“Well that explains why you’re so damn demanding all the time. But it doesn’t explain why our children going missing forced you to bring me here. We should be out looking for them.”
“Well if he took them then this is our best chance of finding them. Anna knows everything about new, old, and just about any type of master; and by his accent I have a feeling he’s somewhere in London. And when we find him we find our children.”
“Miss Seleen, your drink.”
“Thank you, Anna.”
“Mistress, your mix, the way you requested.”
“Thank you, dear,” Rikki took the drink and Anna quietly walked away to stand by the doorway. Seleen looked at Rikki with not a word spoken, “Yes Seleen you may” Rikki said.
“Anna, would you come sit with us please,” Seleen said. Anna looked at Rikki in a questioning look.
“You heard her. Don’t question it.”
“Yes mistress, I apologize.”
“Don’t apologize just don’t let it happen again.” Anna sat in a chair next to the sofa.
“Anna,” Rikki began, “have you seen anything unusual lately? A new power or master in town.”
“Yes, mistress. If I may ask why you’re inquiring about this?”
“Oh, yes, I forgot to tell you what’s going on. A Master Vampire managed to seduce Seleen into sleeping with him about 5 years ago. He managed to get her pregnant somehow and never showed his face again until a couple days ago. He has taken the children; my guess would be to train. And that is just not acceptable. No one takes from me without permission.”
“No, of course not. He should know better. Well that makes sense because on and off for the last six years there has been a new master. He returned a couple of days ago. He is quite a powerful master. He tried to come over once a few weeks ago. I wouldn’t let him in. I told him with the utmost respect that the mistress of the house wasn’t home and I wasn’t able to let him in. He surprisingly acted very dignified; thanked me, bowed and left.”
“Yes, he is an extremely dignified soul. Do you know where he has been living?”
“I believe he bought the former Queen’s mansion on the hill a few years back. He sticks to himself the majority of the time, mistress.”
“Let’s go,” Seleen broke in.
“No,” Rikki said, “we have to go in prepared. If you went in now, without the knowledge you need to know he would tear you apart as he did all those years back. You wouldn’t stand a chance. We do have time, he wouldn’t hurt them. I promise they’re safe. He didn’t take them to hurt them.”
“What do you mean I wouldn’t stand a chance?”
“He already knows how to manipulate your mind and he would kick your ass physically, if you tried to fight him that is. You need to be taught; to not let him manipulate you. You also need to understand he sees you as a slave and any disrespect you show he’ll punish you for.”
“If I may mistress?”
“Yes of course,” Rikki replied.
“Miss Seleen, Rikki is correct. I’ve seen this man. If he thinks of you as a slave and you don’t act like one you will be in over your head. And take it from me; you don’t want to be there. I learned the hard way a couple times and I guarantee this master is ten times worse than mistress Rikki was to me.”
“As long as you guys promise me my children are safe. I will let you teach me all you know.”
“I promise you, babe. I wouldn’t take my time if I thought for a second they were in danger,” Rikki said.
“Alright than let’s start first thing in the morning I just want to sleep right now.”
“Yes, that sounds like a good idea. Anna the room has been refreshed, correct.”
“Yes mistress.”
“Good, thank you. Well than, we shall see you in the morning, Anna. Sleep well.”
“You as well,” Anna replied.
Four flights of stairs later the girls came to another set of double doors that led to the master bedroom. As Seleen entered she stared in awe in the doorframe. A sight she had never had the opportunity to see; the first thing she saw was directly across from the door, a window with a windowsill large enough to be a bed. To the right of the window was a walk in closet the size of a small room and directly left of the closet door was an antique mirror that stood about three feet and stood above a desk that had three drawers on each side. A fireplace roared with orange and red flames keeping the room lit and warm.
“Seleen, you have got to stop doing that. Is it truly that much of a shock?”
“Yes it is. I’m not used to such a magnificent house. The largest house I have ever been in is the one we own now.”
“Well this is your house too, so sit, and get comfortable.”
There was a rap on the door.
“You may enter,” Rikki said.
“Mistress,” Anna began with a bow as she entered the door, “Did you want your hair taken down before bed.”
“Yes I would,” Rikki said as she sat down at the desk. Anna walked behind her and stroked her hair gently with the brush she retrieved from the desk.
“Miss Seleen, would you like me to take your hair down when I’m through with the mistress’s?”
Seleen looked at Rikki with a look longing for an answer. Rikki didn’t give her one.
“No thank you, dear.”
“As you wish, mistress you are good to go to bed now.”
“Thank you, my dear. You may go now.”
“Yes, mistress good night.”
As the door closed and the fire died Rikki took Seleen’s hand and led her to the bed. Rikki’s mouth crashed upon Seleen’s with a fiery rage. Rikki pushed Seleen to the bed as the passion continued. The fire began to rage in the fireplace once again as Rikki stripped Seleen one article of clothing at a time. Lying upon Seleen, Rikki’s mouth began to wonder from ears to neck and down to her breasts. Seleen, breathless from pleasure, gasped for air as Rikki ventured down her body and back up to take control of her mouth once again. In desperation to have some sort of control Seleen began stripping Rikki and she allowed it. That was the only control Seleen would get that night, she soon realized as Rikki began to bind her to the bed with chains.
Rikki kissed Seleen’s bound body over and over until every inch had been covered.
“Ohh Rikki,” Seleen moaned as Rikki ventured close to her thighs. She couldn’t claw or grab or bite therefore she was limited to mere noises. Rikki didn’t say anything merely smiled with the knowledge that she was pleasing her love. By dawn the fire had died to coals and Seleen lay nude in Rikki’s arms.
Chapter 9
Seleen woke once again to an empty bed. However the room was not empty; Anna was silently putting wood on the fire.
“Anna, dear, where is Rikki?”
“Oh, good morning miss Seleen. She is in the dungeon. Would you like breakfast?”
“The dungeon? What is she doing there?”
“She is preparing for the battle you will encounter when you go to retrieve your children.”
“Battle?”
“Yes, he is going to put up a fight miss Seleen. And he is sure to have guards. I have drawn your bath water. I thought you would enjoy a relaxing bath before the day you have ahead of you.”
“Oh yes thank you.”
Seleen walked into the bathing room to see a marble tub nearly four feet deep filled with hot water and bubbles. She stripped off her robe and stepped slowly into the bath. As Seleen lay in the bath covered from toe to chin with water and bubbles she allowed herself to relax to the point where she felt as though she was falling through the bath tub.
As Seleen walked down a rock walled corridor full of torches on the walls that seemed to never end she heard something; Children laughing, her children. She ran toward the sound and finally reached a black door; the laughing stopped. The door was locked when she attempted to open it. She began pounding on the door.
“Let me in damn it!” A golden key appeared on a clear rope dangling in front of her. She silently took the key and fit it in the lock perfectly. The room was bitch black. Seleen clapped twice and a dim light appeared. There was no furniture no window just bare black walls in a square room. No sign of her children visible.
“Seleen, dear you must wake” Anna said.
“What,” Seleen said groggily, “oh I must have dosed off.”
“Sorry to wake you but breakfast is ready and the mistress is waiting.”
“Oh, it is quite alright,” Seleen realized that the water had gone cold and the bubbles were gone, “how long have I been in here?”
“Just over an hour, your clothes are on your bed. The mistress expects you in 15 minutes.” With that Anna had left the room.
Seleen climbed out of the tub and walked dripping wet into the room to dress. She sunk onto the bed where her clothes lay.
“How do people continue to live in such a lifestyle with such a changing society?” Seleen thought as she lay, staring at the ceiling, knowing she must get up to ready herself for breakfast yet not quite ready to do so. Ten minutes passed like seconds; Seleen dressed into a corset dress that had been laid out. The dress fit her body magnificently; navy blue with black lace atop it. The dress ran just inches below her knees, Brunette hair flowing down the back. Not even bothering to find shoes Seleen walked silently down the stairs toward the dining room though she wasn’t quite sure where it was. Four flights later she turned right down a great hallway away from the parlor she had been in the previous night. Down the hall and to the left there was a grand dining room where she saw Rikki sitting at the table large enough to fit about 10 people.
“Good morning, dear, did you sleep well?” Rikki said.
“Yes, thank you. Did you wait all this time for me to eat?”
“Oh it’s not a big deal. I was re-training this morning. Come sit with me,” Rikki said as she gestured to a seat next to her that was set and had a glass of orange juice waiting. Have some juice while you wait for breakfast.
The girls ate a light breakfast and afterwards Seleen followed Rikki down another stairwell to a rock walled corridor lit by torches. Not too far a walk though it felt like forever merely because Seleen didn’t know where she was being led to. They then came upon the dungeon doors that had been left open. As Seleen walked cautiously after Rikki she saw a wall full of handcuffs and chains, and assumed that this is where they had chained people when needed centuries ago. On another hung every weapon imaginable; from bow and arrow, to ball and chain, to high tech guns all to be used at will. And surprisingly the wall to the left of the door was empty. A bed stood against it with a chest at the foot of it though that was all. No pictures, no weapons merely an antique bed and chest to match.
“Pick a weapon,” Rikki said as she pulled a double bladed sword off the wall; perfectly balanced in weight with a foot long handle covered with ancient symbols.
“But…”
“Don’t argue,” Rikki cut Seleen off and threw an identical sword at her. Seleen jumped aside and let the sword fall with a clatter to the rock ground.
“Um, babe, you’re supposed to catch that.”
“Sorry. I really do need help, don’t I?”
“Well not to be rude in any way but hell yes you do,” Rikki said. Seleen laughed as she picked up the sword,
“It’s a good thing I know that you love me and meant that with the utmost love.”
“Well now that we have that settled let us get started,” Rikki said. Before Seleen realized Rikki had moved Rikki had grabbed Seleen’s sword wrist put her palm into Seleen’s chest hard, knocking her out of breath, then swept her leg under Seleen’s feet knocking her to the ground and was holding the sword to her throat.
“You have got to learn to react quickly. We are a fast species and will have you dead before you realize we have moved.”
“Ya, realized that.”
“So you will have to learn to be as fast as us; which will not be a simple task as your mortal, though it is possible.”
Hours of practice led to much pain, scrapes, and bruises. Seleen ended up with a nice sized gash above her right eye that would take weeks to heal. Blood ran down her face whilst Rikki got a couple of scrapes and bruises but none that wouldn’t be healed by supper. With torn clothes from head to toe, sweat smothered bodies and exhausted and aching muscles the girls went to clean up.
Blood dripped in the bathroom. Instead of trying to wash off the girls decided it would be much easier to jump in the shower and did just that; steaming hot water ran over them as they washed each other down. Seleen gently sat Rikki on the marble seat at the back of the shower and as the water ran over their naked, vulnerable bodies passion roared through them. Seleen kissed Rikki’s body down to her thighs and worked her way inward and back up to her lips. Their mouths raged eagerly to devour each other. And they did.
LeNay sat in her nightgown playing with her dolls when Randus rapped on the door.
“Enter,” Damion answered. Randus walked elegantly into the bedroom of his children.
“Good morning, did you sleep well?”
“Yes thank you.” Damion answered.
“And you LeNay?” LeNay turned her head to see Randus in a black tunic.
“I slept good. And you?” A smile spread from ear to ear on Randus’s face. “I slept well thank you. Are you two ready for breakfast?”
“I hungry,” LeNay said.
“I am hungry,” Damion corrected her.
“Good because breakfast shall be ready within the half hour. I expect to see the two of you dressed and ready for the day.” With a nod of the head he left the room, closing the door behind him.
“Can we dress up each other again?” LeNay said with excitement. Damion sighed, “I guess so. What color do you want to wear today?”
“Uuumm how bout red. That a pretty color.” Damion pulled out a red spaghetti strap silk dress. The dress was backless with a u-cut front.
“How about this?”
“Ooo I like that.”
“Good, you can wear the black sandals and I’ll get someone to do your hair.”
Damion dressed into a black tunic and trousers outfit and left the room. He walked to the throne room where he knew he would find Randus. One of the guards attempted to stop him. Damion got upset at this and raised his hand in desperate attempt to stop him. To his amazement the man fell to the ground. Damion walked through the double doors gave a slight bow of the head before progressing to the throne where his father sat.
“Yes?”
“First I accidentally hurt one of your guards. I didn’t know that if I put my hand up and thought about how I didn’t want him to come near he would drop to the floor.” Randus laughed.
“Your power is still raw. Don’t worry he shouldn’t have tried to stop you anyhow. You are welcome in here at any time unless I say other wise.”
“Thank you, and second LeNay needs someone to help her with her hair and I don’t know how. Mom usually does that sort of thing. Is there someone that can help?”
“Oh yes of course. I hadn’t thought of that. She does indeed need a handmaid. I will send up someone temporarily until we get someone permanent.”
“Thank you.” Damion began to turn to leave.
“Damion.”
“Yes?”
“Would you like to sword practice after breakfast?” A smile spread over Damions’ face.
“I would love to. What about LeNay?”
“She will be taken care of. There is a young girl about her age coming to visit they can play together.”
“Okay, I’m going to go back to her. Make sure she’s okay.”
“Yes of course. I shall see you at breakfast.”
“Sorry about the battle wounds,” Rikki said as they dressed for the second time that morning, “however on the plus side you learned well and quickly.”
“Well thanks, though I’m not too thrilled about the wounds. I guess it makes for an interesting story.”
“You’ll get used to it,” Rikki said with a smirk on her face. She gently kissed Seleen’s neck. They then walked out hand in hand down the stairwell.
“Shall we have a bit of warm tea and supper?” Rikki asked.
“That sounds enjoyable. And not too dangerous,” Seleen said with a laugh.
“Mistress,” Anna said with a bow as the girls entered the parlor.
“Good evening, Anna. Could you get us some tea and bring supper in here?”
“Yes of course.”
“Thank you dear.”
A few minutes passed pleasantly enough as the girls relaxed in front of the fire enjoying each other’s company. Anna approached quietly and poured tea for both girls then set the supper trays down for them.
“Thank you. Sit and have a cup of tea with us,” Rikki said.
“Thank you mistress, I would love to.”
“Anna training will commence after supper.”
“Yes, of course. I was planning on it.”
“What training,” Seleen broke in, “no more swords today, please, we just cleaned up. And this gash hurts.”
Laughing Rikki said, “No, no more sword play today. You’ve learned the basics of how to fight my race now you must learn to be submissive at the proper time but not to let people walk over you. You’re going to learn how to be in touch with your submissive side when around a Master or Mistress that deserves or has earned that respect. But you’re also going to learn to be a Mistress’s wife. You have to find your balance and Anna and I are going to help you with it.”
“Rikki, I’m much more submissive than dominate. I wouldn’t be able to act as you do.”
“I’ve known you long enough to know that. But I also know you have confidence so today we’ll balance that. You may use your strong points as long as you can keep your balance and be a bitch when needed.”
“Okay babe, whatever you say. I trust you.”
“Good, Anna”
Anna walked to the right side of Seleen,
“The first thing you must know is you are in charge of you and those under you. Speak with authority. If you want it make sure you get it.”
“I was like that before I ran into the ‘all powerful master’”
“Well he saw the slave in you and drew it out in you,” Rikki said, “he wanted to take that confidence, watch it slowly deteriorate and turn back to what your personality truly is. Most masters aren’t like that. As a matter of fact true masters don’t have to manipulate people to get what they want it just happens. If a submissive is around them they will have that respect instantaneously. I don’t believe he is a true master. Merely a vampire who has worked with his power and scared the respect out of many however he hasn’t earned his respect as he should have.”
“Well he didn’t really have to manipulate me. It was an instantaneous thing. It was as though I was his; he did draw it out in me. He brought out the true me. The part that I never really knew existed.”
“Oh really,” Rikki said a bit surprised.
“Yes.”
“That means he can sense personalities. That takes work, anyone can do it but it takes dedication.”
“It just seemed natural to him.” Seleen said.
“That’s interesting I’ll have to talk to him.”
“Mistress, do you think he’s the vampire prince?” Anna asked.
“No, when her majesty died she took her unborn child with her. You know that.” Irritation and pain grew in Rikki’s eyes.
Everyone was bustling around the castle to prepare for the masquerade. The entire vampiric population was invited and the queen herself would make an appearance that night escorted by her maids as she had chosen to not take a king. In the year of 1754 it was rare to not have a king to stand by the queen. But in this society that had lived for centuries, mostly hidden, the born heir had the right to choose and no one questioned that authority. Not even the walking dead would attempt that. The power the royal family held was entrancing. They could dominate all realms if chosen but they had more respect than that. They stuck to their species and let the mortals and spirit realms to themselves, for the most part. The realm of demons was a different story, however, the queen dominated in both vampire society and demon realm.
“Rikki!” Seleen yelled as Rikki fell to the floor. Seleen shook her and got no reply. Fear raged in her eyes. “Rikki” she began to cry, “don’t do this.”
“Seleen, she isn’t here. Let her be.” Anna said in a calm soothing voice as she walked to Rikki and put a pillow under her head, “she is okay, I swear to you. She is just remembering. She will come back but only when she is ready. She’s fallen into her mind.” Seleen sobbed over Rikki, “I’m not leaving her.”
“That is fine; would you like some more tea while we wait for her?”
“No.”
“Seleen, you need to calm your nerves it will help.”
“Fine. Just hurry.”
“Thank you Juliana,” Queen Arrabelle said, “my hair looks magnificent.” Juliana put down the brush. The queens’ long black hair was put into a bun with ringlets hanging down to frame her face as well as the bun.
“If you’ll stand, mistress, I’ll tie your corset.” Juliana said.
“Yes, of course dear.” As she stood the dark purple dress she wore dropped. A simple enough dress it was; dropped to the ground with ruffles along the neck line. Rikki stood quiet as her queen readied for the evening.
“Rikki you will escort me to the ball and sit with me through the evening.”
“Yes of course dear. I would never think of anything else. I wouldn’t advise you any other way.”
“I know you wouldn’t. You’ll be my guard this eve and Juliana will join us as well.”
“Of course.”
Juliana stood by the window of the west tower, “Mistress, the carriages have begun to arrive.” Rikki walked to the window and watched as lords, ladies, and servants gracefully exited the carriages and entered the castle.
“Thank you my dear. We will arrive in the ballroom in 15 minutes.”
Rikki stood to the left of Arrabelle, Arrabelle holding Rikkis’ arm as a woman would a man. Juliana stood to the right and a pace behind. The three entered the ballroom and silence consumed the room.
“I present you your queen, Arrabelle.” Rikki said as they entered. The crowd parted and bowed as the queen walked to the front of the room to the three chairs that stood waiting. Before sitting she addressed her guests, “My lords, ladies I thank you for joining me this eve. You all look magnificent I wish you to enjoy the ball. You may commence.” And the music began.
Rikkis’ eyes opened slowly. A soft moan shuddered from her mouth. Seleen jumped off the sofa, Anna calmly followed her.
“Rikki, are you okay?” Seleen said as she kneeled over her.
“Ohh,” Rikki moaned, “yes I’m quite alright.”
“I do apologize, mistress.”
“It’s quite alright my dear. Tis not your fault. It has been quite some time since that happened.” Rikki sat up rubbing her eyes.
“Mistress your mix.”
“Oh thank you dear, you have always been good at having that when I get back.”
“Rikki what happened?” Seleen asked as they helped Rikki up to sit on the sofa.
“Talking about the queen triggered my memory. I went back to that time for a moment.”
“That was longer than a moment. It’s been over an hour.”
“I’m sorry. I can’t help when I regress.”
“I know I was just worried.”
“Well I’m glad. It shows you care.”
“Of course I care.”
“Well we should head to bed. I’m exhausted now.” Rikki said.
“I think that’s a good idea.” Seleen replied.
Seleen led Rikki upstairs, locked the door, gently sat Rikki on the bed and as her mouth crashed upon Rikki’s power surged through them. That night Seleen dominated. And a passion filled, sleepless night was spent in each others’ arms.
Chapter 10
Seleen grew irritated as weeks passed. She wanted her babies back and was damn sick of the training Rikki was requiring of her. She woke and began the same routine of bathing, eating, and training.
Anna brought supper into the dining room after the day was through.
“Anna this looks great,” Seleen said.
“Thank you.”
“Join us for supper,” Seleen said as Anna began walking out.
“Oh, Miss Seleen, I couldn’t but thank you.” Anna turned and began walking to the kitchen.
“Anna, that wasn’t a request, come join us.” Anna turned, shocked.
“Yes, ma’am,” She said as she sat at the table. Rikki looked at Seleen with a bit of shock on her face as well. Seleen looked Rikki in the eyes.
“I wanted it, and if I want it I can get it, right?”
“That is right.”
“If that’s the case than we need to have a serious talk tonight.” Rikki’s eyes rose.
“Now do we?”
“Yes, I want our children back now. I’m sick of waiting and training and all that bullshit. We’ve been at this for weeks and I believe I’m ready. And if I’m not I will just have to deal with it and get ready when we get there.”
“I want our kids back as bad as you. Do you truly think you’re ready?”
“Yes I do.”
“That’s good because I do as well.”
“As do I,” Anna pitched in.
“Really.”
“Yes, so we will leave tomorrow at dawn.”
“Anna you will have things ready.”
“Yes, mistress. If I may I am going to excuse myself.”
“You may,” Rikki said.
“You’re dismissed for the night,” Seleen said, “we can clean up supper.”
“Thank you Miss Seleen but that isn’t necessary.”
“Don’t argue,” Rikki said with a look on her face that made Anna realize with not another word said that she was out of place.
“You’re right, I apologize.”
“It’s quite alright,” Seleen said before Rikki could respond, “Now go have fun; it’s your night off.”
Anna smiled. “Yes, Miss Seleen,” She bowed, “have a good night.”
After supper when the girls were cleaning up Rikki asked, “why did you cut me off with Anna?”
“Because I knew you were about to say something mean. And she didn’t deserve that.”
“Yes she did. She was out of place.”
“No she wasn’t. I’m not her mistress. I’m her friend she can argue with me all she wants. I’ll just win.” Seleen smiled. Rikki laughed.
“Well I guess I can’t change your view on that. If I could I would.”
“I’m glad you know me that well. Because you’re right; it’d be a waste of your time if you tried.”
Chapter 11
Seleen was up long before dawn. She dressed in a black silk skirt that dropped to the ground. A red corset for her top and leather boots that came to just below the knee covered her legs. In the right boot a double bladed dagger resided. In her braw was a small machete and she put her hair in a bun, Chinese style, with a knife disguised as chop sticks to hold the bun up.
Seleen went down to the dungeon and practiced with every weapon; for once she was actually enjoying herself.
“This isn’t right,” she thought, “My children have been kidnapped and yet I’m settling into a new home, playing with weapons and am happy.”
“Anna,” Rikki called when she awoke in bed alone.
“Yes, mistress.” Anna came rushing in.
“Where is Seleen?”
“In the dungeon, she must have gotten up at least three or four hours ago. And she has been in there all morning, waiting for you to wake.”
“Thank you, get my clothes please.”
“Yes, of course.” Anna retrieved a black mini-skirt with boots identical to the ones Seleen had chosen. A purple low cut shirt that covered the front and tied across the mid back.
Rikki went downstairs, walked behind Seleen, wrapping her arms around her waist. Within seconds Seleen had pulled the knife out of her shirt and had it to Rikki’s throat. Than realized it was Rikki and dropped it.
“Sorry, you scared the shit out of me. You shouldn’t sneak up on an armed person.” Rikki laughed.
“You’re going to have to get used to it as I’ve a feeling you’ll be armed frequently after this whole situation.”
“Yes, I know,” Seleen said as she kissed Rikki.
“Let’s go, the car’s waiting,” Rikki said, “oh and nice place to hide a knife.”
“Thanks,” Seleen said as Rikki handed it to her.
The driver got out of the small car and opened the door to the back seat. It was like nothing Seleen had ever seen, except in movies; it looked as though it was built in the 1920’s so it had that ‘first automobile’ look. The tires were big with white outsides and black insides. The majority of the car was white with black trim.
“Good morning ladies,” The driver said as he opened the door.
“Good morning, Andrew,” Rikki replied as she stepped into the car. Once both girls had climbed into the car Andrew closed the door and let himself in.
“To the castle?” Andrew asked.
“No, to the foot of the hill, towards the forbidden.”
“Yes, ma’am” and the car went into motion.
“What’s the forbidden?” Seleen asked.
“Oh, well he’s in the castle on the hill that used to belong to the royal family when monarchy was still alive. I know every underground passage in that castle, there’s 99. He only knows of 98. One is called the forbidden. Originally it was built so if there was an invasion the royal family could escape. I’m the only one, with the exception of my servants, still alive to know about it.
“Wow, that’s interesting. Where does it lead?”
“It comes out at the bottom of the back of the hill, by the River, under a tree. It leads to the west tower that the queen resided in two centuries ago. The tower was burned during an invasion, in which the queen and her unborn son were killed. Out of respect for the royal family it has never been opened.”
“It’s not right that we open it then,” Seleen said.
“We won’t. We will arrive in her room and from there will take a passage that led from her room to the throne room that way we won’t open a door.” The car stopped,
“Ladies, we’re here,” Andrew said as he got out to open their door.
“Thank you Andrew,” Rikki said.
“Anytime, M’ Lady. We will forever be here for you. Now you be careful, Seleen that goes for you as well.” Seleen smiled, “Thank you we will. See you later.”
“Of course you will, M’ Lady.” And in the blink of an eye he and the car vanished.
Chapter 12
Once in the passage Rikki found an old torch that she lit to give light through the chamber.
“This will be about an hour walk. You ready?” Rikki said.
“Of course, let’s do this,” Seleen said as she grabbed Rikki’s hand and began walking.
“This is how it will go,” Rikki began, “we’ll get to the queen’s room and to the other passage. It will take us to the throne room where he will reside. He will pick on you; try to break you down. Just remember who and what you are. You are just as important as he and I.
“Rikki, I know, I will show him respect but he won’t walk over me. I’m not his slave and my kids won’t be either.”
“Good. I’m proud of you. Just remember that when we get there. But be sure to show respect, I don’t want you hurt.”
“Thanks, I will be sure to remember.” Seleen smiled then instantly tripped and fell.
“Ow!”
“Babe what happened” Rikki brought the light down to see if Seleen was okay and realized Seleen had tripped over bones. She wasn’t sure as to whose bones though.
“What… is… that?” Seleen stuttered.
“The bones of a being.”
“What, that’s disgusting!”
“I know, but it happens, let’s move on.”
Within twenty minutes of that incident they reached a trap door.
“We’re here,” Rikki said.
“Finally,” Seleen said exhausted.
They walked through a door that, in the room, was disguised as a bookshelf.
“Wow,” Seleen said when she got in the room, “this is an amazing room.”
“Yep, she was a Queen, who deserved the best.”
Aside from the cobwebs, inch thick dust, burn marks, and torn window curtains it was gorgeous; there was a crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling in the middle of the room. A four poster bed stood in the middle of the room, the headboard against the wall. A pine chest that could fit a 12 year old child in it sat at the foot of the bed, and a pine dresser at least five feet tall with six drawers in it stood against the wall next to the head of the bed. A doll sat atop it holding a picture. Seleen saw the picture.
“Is that her?” Rikki walked over and a tear dropped from her eye. “That would be her majesty.”
“That is an amazing portrait.”
“Yes, the artist was the best,” Rikki said, “now come on we must go.” Rikki rushed Seleen through the door behind the dresser as though she couldn’t handle being in the room any longer. She made sure the dresser was closed properly, just to be safe.
The walk only took about ten minutes. As they approached the next trap door Rikki took Seleens’ hand, “okay we’re here, are you ready?”
“Yes,” she said as she opened the door for Rikki, “After you M’ Lady.” A Smirk appeared on her face.
“Thank you my dear,” Rikki replied. They stepped through the door into the throne room and come out behind a pillar along the wall. When they looked to the left there were two huge double doors. To the right, two chairs. The room was a large circle held up by pillars. The throne was above the rest of the floor because of three steps that went around the room, making the center lower that the outer part of the room.
“Hello ladies,” a man’s voice came from the right, “took you long enough to get here. Rikki come have a seat.” Rikki and Seleen walked toward the chairs. Before they stepped up the three steps they both gave a slight bow of the head. Rikki sat in the chair next to him, Seleen stood next to her.
“So how did you get in without my slaves knowing?” he asked.
“That is for me to know and you never to find out,” Rikki said.
“Aww a bit testy are we?”
“You must remember I was alive when this was built.”
“Yes, I know,” Randus sighed.
“How, if I may ask, did you get into this house anyways? It belongs to royalty.”
“You may. Well apparently you never knew the full story. Not only am I a master vampire but the son of the queen. This house belongs to me as I am the heir.” Rikki sat in silent shock for a moment.
“No, that can’t be,” she said once she snapped out of it, “her son was killed along with her.”
“Not true, I was born the night of the invasion. Her slave took me, hid me, and raised me.”
Rikki looked desperately pained as she realized the truth, “Her handmaid Juliana?” she asked in a near whisper.
“Yes, how did you know?”
“Ah, that makes sense. Then the body we found was the Queens,” Rikki said aloud, though it was not intended that way.
“What body? How did you know about Juliana!” Randus was getting upset.
“I knew your mother. I was her advisor. I knew Juliana. She disappeared after the invasion I haven’t seen her since. And as for the body, we found a body in the tunnel we used to get here. And that was the tunnel that was built for escape. She must have died giving birth to you.”
“Yes, she did.”
“So then you’re a young master,” Seleen spoke up.
“That is not for you to say,” he said quite angry. He looked at Rikki, “you didn’t teach her better.”
“I taught her to act as a mistress.”
“Why would you do such a thing! She’s meant to be a slave.”
“No she isn’t. She is my wife and as such is a mistress. You are quite right she is a submissive, but only towards me.”
“Well that is an interesting way to do things,” he replied.
“And she’s right. You are a young master.”
“Young but powerful, after all I got her to sleep with me.”
“And that will never happen again, you bastard!” Seleen yelled. With that he became enraged, looked at Rikki
“This is how you taught her, now you know why I took my kids!” Rikki looked at Seleen, “He’s right, to disrespect a master, no matter how untrained he may be, is not okay. Understood.”
“Yes,” Seleen looked at him, “I apologize for my behavior.”
“Fine,” he replied.
“As for you… your majesty” Rikki said with a reverence, “you had no right to say that. Those are our children as much as they are yours. I understand you created them to carry on your blood line and that makes much more sense now but we will get them back. Weather you give them back to us or not though if you do it would make things much easier.”
“Well I’m not going to, they belong here. They belong in the house of their blood. Now I do so apologize for the inconvenience but I’m going to have to take you away. And I thoroughly believe you will enjoy the challenge. I look forward to speaking with you again. Get them out.”
Two men and two women came in. A man and woman grabbed Seleen first, threw her against a wall, took the knife from her boot and braw. Tied her hands with hemp rope behind her back and held her against the wall. She tried back kicking them and that resulted in them kicking the back of her knees dropping her instantly to the ground.
“Don’t treat her like that!” Rikki yelled.
“She deserved it” Randus said, “maybe she’ll learn better.” As the other two grabbed Rikki he told them to treat her well. They did; searched her as gently as possible, took her weapons and took both girls out. They took them through a trap door that led to a tunnel.
“Where are we?” Seleen said.
“In the passage that leads to the dungeon,” Rikki replied.
“Silence,” one of the women yelled at them. The rest of the walk was walked in silence.
Chapter 13
Both Seleen and Rikki had been chained to the wall of a dungeon that had been used as a torture chamber previously.
“Well that turned out well,” Seleen said with a joking smile on her face.
“Glad you’re so happy; I thought you’d be freaking out.”
“Well I plan on getting us out of here so I have no need to be freaking out, now do I.”
“I’m curious, how do you intend on doing that?” Rikki looked to her right where Seleen was chained.
“I was trained by the best,” she said with a smirk on her face from ear to ear.
“What are you up to?”
“Is that a request or a demand?”
“A demand. Now spill.”
“Well…” Seleen began and was cut off by a woman; roughly 5’5, extremely petite with a whip in her hand. She whipped Seleen across the stomach, cutting the skin causing blood to drip, “I believe I already told you not to talk once I shouldn’t have to tell you twice.”
“Leave her be,” Rikki said. The woman looked at her, “I don’t believe I gave you permission to speak either. You may be a mistress, but that doesn’t seem to matter much at the moment now does it. And put yourself in my shoes; if a slave were to talk without permission after being told not to what would you do?” Rikki turned her head away in refusal to answer.
“I asked you a question.”
Rikki turned back to look at the woman talking to her and in a low voice said, “The same thing you have done.”
“That’s what I thought.” She turned and walked out.
“Don’t make me tell you again!” she yelled over her shoulder as she left.
“Finally, I thought that bitch would never leave,” Seleen said.
“I agree, but you have to remember she’s a vampire and we have great hearing, so keep your voice down. I don’t want her back in here.”
“Than lets’ get the hell out of here; my plan is difficult though I believe you can do it.”
“What would that be?”
“I know if you focus you can move things. You have a powerful mind; I have not yet been able to learn that. There is a knife in my hair still. Concentrate on it pull it our and use it to pick either yours or my lock.”
“You want me to pick the locks using a knife that’s in your hair with my mind power.”
“Yes, ma’am” Seleen said with a smile.
“Wipe that smirk off your face!” the woman had come back down, “didn’t I silence you!” she yelled at Seleen as she stepped not even three inches from her. She then looked at Rikki, “you haven’t trained her very well.”
“I apologize ma’am” Seleen said. She turned to her attention to Seleen.
“What did you say?”
“I apologize for my disobedience.”
“That’s a good girl, though it doesn’t change what you did.” With the snap of a finger the woman had Seleen flipped from having her back against the wall to being face first against the wall.
“How did you do that?” Seleen asked.
“I didn’t give you permission to talk. Apparently you aren’t sorry.” A nine tail whip lashed across her back once than twice more.
“That is for not obeying.”
“Leave her be!” Rikki yelled. The woman looked Rikki in the eye than whipped Seleen again, “That’s because your mistress won’t shut her mouth and I can’t touch her.”
“That’s it” Rikki thought. Her fingers snapped and Seleens’ hair fell. The woman noticed as she went to whip her again. She turned towards Rikki but Rikki was no longer there.
“Where is she!” the woman screamed at Seleen.
“Behind you,” Rikki said. The woman turned around. There Rikki was, smiling a demonic smile.
“How…”
“Did I do that? You have no idea who you’re dealing with. I’m one of the oldest mistress vampires still living and extremely well trained by queen Arrabelle herself. I’ve been doing this far too long, you pushed me too far.”
The woman was silent; dropped her whip and stared at the ground.
“What is it?” Rikki asked, grabbing her chin and making her look directly in her eyes, “at a loss for words now.”
“I didn’t know you were ancient.”
“Yes I know you didn’t. Other wise you wouldn’t have dared treat me the way you have.” With that the woman dropped to her knees.
“I’m sorry, M’ Lady.”
“If you’d had any idea there would be hell to pay but I’ll forgive your ignorance this once. Now release my wife.”
“Yes, M’ Lady” she instantly got up and unchained Seleen, then went back to kneeling in front of the girls.
“What is your name?” Seleen asked.
“Adella, ma’am”
“Adella, where does he keep the children?” Seleen asked.
I mustn’t tell you that.”
“She asked you a question.” Rikki said.
“I know M’ Lady, but I won’t tell her the answer.”
Rikki was enraged. One look at the wall then Adella and Adella was in the chains that hung there.
“What is wrong with you? You know better!” Rikki yelled. Seleen approached Rikki from behind and wrapped her hands around her waist, “Calm down, babe.”
“Not until she tells us.” Rikki said.
Seleen walked calm and smoothly to Adella, “I tried but it won’t work. You’ve pissed her off and brought out the mistress in her.” Adella looked Seleen in the eyes, “I’m sorry ma’am if I weren’t bound I would happily tell you but I am a loyal slave and Randus is my master.”
Seleen turned to look at Rikki.
“I heard her,” Rikki said. Rikki then stepped in front of Seleen and faced Adella, “That is a very honorable reason. I respect that. You may go.” Rikki snapped and Adella was released.
“Thank you…” she hesitated, “Mistress” Adella bowed and vanished.
Chapter 14
Seleen and Rikki stood alone in the dungeon in silence. Seleen had a rag and was taking care of her wounds, more to pass the silence and defeat than to clean herself up.
“Babe, could you get the ones on my back, please?”
“Yes of course. Why didn’t you take care of them sooner?”
“I didn’t want to make Adella feel bad” Seleen said as she looked at the ground in expectance of a lecture; it came.
“She should feel bad. What she did was unacceptable. If she was near as powerful as she led on to be she would have known who I was and known better than to treat you the way she did. Either way it was unacceptable; acting as though she had more power than she truly does or treating you the way she did.”
Seleen said nothing. Merely stared at the ground as though that was her place; like a helpless child or extremely well trained slave.
“Seleen look at me,” Rikki said in a tone you would use to approach a scared child hiding in the corner. Seleen looked into Rikkis’ eyes.
“Yes”
“You needn’t look at the ground when you’re around me. You hold your head up high. Even if I’m lecturing you.”
“I was just so afraid it was wrong to care about her.”
Rikki couldn’t hold in the laugh. She clasped her arms around Seleen.
“Not wrong, just uncommon in this setting. But it’s half the reason I married you; your loving personality is one no one could replace. And I love you for that.
“Now, get that frown off your face and we shall go.”
“To find the kids?”
“Yes, where else would we go?”
“But how without Adella?”
“My way.” Rikki said with a malicious grin.
They walked up the stone stairwell. There was no light, no rail, mere darkness. Seleen had no idea how many steps there were or if the stairwell turned and didn’t dare talk to ask Rikki for fear of being heard. Desperate for some sort of support Seleen grabbed the wall, she soon realized that was an awful idea; there were nails as sharp as razor blades along both walls. Seleen had put her entire hand on it before Rikki had realized and in seconds her left hand was covered in blood. Rikki smelled the blood immediately ripped some cloth from her shirt and wrapped Seleens’ hand.
“It’ll be alright,” Rikki said.
“I know, I’m fine,” Seleen whispered.
“Why are you whispering?”
“They might hear me.”
“I guess you’re right. Let’s keep going just don’t touch the walls.”
They walked the cold, damp, darkness of the stairwell until Rikki bumped into a wooden door.
“Shhh” Seleen said, “We don’t want to get caught.”
“You’re quite right,” Rikki replied.
Seleen stepped in front of Rikki and opened the door as quietly as she could manage. After Rikki listened intensely and gave the go ahead, when she was sure no one was about, Seleen walked through the door into a grand hallway. The floors were made of the same type of cherry wood as in the girls’ house only the walls were made of stone. The ceiling was at least 40 feet high with windows at the top of the wall, right below the ceiling. The windows let in amazing beams of light, lighting the 30 foot long by 25 foot wide hall. The light beams made the floor look wet. Seleen stopped in front of the door.
“What are you doing?” Rikki asked, confused.
Seleen didn’t answer merely stood there in the middle of the hallway, eyes closed for a few minutes.
“The children are to the left; threw the door with the black handle at the end of the hall, up the stairwell in the east tower.”
“That is where the nursery was going to be for the queens’ unborn child. How did you figure that out?”
“Those are my children, any mother can find their children if they really want to. They just have to focus on their energy.”
“That is an excellent idea. I’m so proud of you dear. Well I know exactly where that is so let us go.”
They began walking down the hall sticking close to the walls in the shadows. Within five minutes the door that led to the east tower was in sight. A problem arose; there were two guards. A man; 6’1 slightly dark skin tone with two daggers and a double blade katana visible. The girls didn’t know what he had concealed. A woman stood by his side a good five inches shorter than him. She wore a black leather mini, knee high boots and a black shirt that tied over her chest. A dagger visible in both boots and a miniature sword strapped on her waist she was prepared.
“What do you want to do; all our weapons have been taken.” Seleen said.
“We fight. They haven’t sensed us yet so they are fairly weak. You have been trained in hand to hand combat now it’s time to use it. You can do it.”
“You really think so?”
“I know so. Just remember show all attitude and no fear. Fear is a weakness and if it is there use it to your advantage and don’t let them use it to theirs.”
“Alright, let’s get this out of the way.”
The girls walked down the hall heads held high, Seleen on the right of Rikki.
“Who the hell are you!” the woman yelled as she pulled both daggers, fully prepared for a battle.
“The pissed off mothers!” Seleen yelled. In that instant the woman made her first mistake, showed fear in her eyes. The man stepped in front of the door, the woman in front of him.
“It’s mom!” Damion said with excitement to LeNay.
“I told you they were here,” LeNay said as she stuck her tongue out at him.
“Girl don’t stick your tongue out at me, I’ll cut it off.”
“Will not!” she said as she did it again. Damion came after her chasing her around the beds and trapping her in a corner. He hit her in the jaw, a tear ran down her cheek as she hit the wall and fell. Damion jumped to her side.
“I’m so sorry,” he put his arms around her, “I didn’t mean to hit you that hard. I didn’t know I had that much power. You’re right mama Seleen and Rikki will come get us. I’m sorry please don’t cry.”
LeNay wiped the blood off her lip.
“Y…you’re… so mean. But” she looked at him, “apology assepted.”
“Thank you, I love you.” He helped her up, “Let’s get away from the door. So when mama breaks it down we don’t get hurt.
“I love you too. Good idea. I don’t wanna bleed no more.”
The girls walked to the guards. The woman came after them with both daggers in hand. Seleen grabbed both her wrists and twisted them under before she knew what happened. Rikki grabbed the daggers that dropped from pressure. Seleen kicked the back of her knees sending her to the ground. The woman was on her knees but wasn’t giving up. She twisted her writ, got one hand free of Seleens’ grip. Reached for the dagger in her shirt, Seleen got to it first and had it to her throat within seconds.
“Move bitch, I dare you.”
Rikki stood face to face in front of the man guarding the path to her children. His face turned hard as stone as she stepped closer. His eyes looked as though he would kill her on the spot. He stood up strait and spread his legs a bit so he covered the door fully. With as big as he was and the fact that he had much better weapons Rikki chose a different approach.; she stopped in front of him, put her weapons she’d taken from the lady away, “Good evening.” The look on his face changed immediately to confusion.
“Don’t go off trying to play friendly with me. You’ve got my partner on her knees with a knife to her throat!” Rikki eyed him, “Please don’t yell at me. I’m not yelling at you am I? My girl has your partner to her knees, not me, and it’s for good reason.”
“Really, what would that be.” He stepped forward just inches from her face, towering her by nearly a foot.
“She disrespected her and pulled weapons. She deserved what she got. I’m merely asking your name. I’m being extremely respectful, am I not?”
He looked at her cautiously.
“Yes, ma’am you are. I apologize for the disrespect. I’m Demitri and my partner over there, well we call her Thorn.”
Thorn was ready to jump up, “Don’t tell her my name! You shouldn’t even be talking to masters’ enemy!” she tried to get up and blood trickled down her neck. Seleen had dug the point into her neck; just pricked enough to make it bleed.
“You bitch!” Thorn yelled.
“Don’t move,” Seleen snapped back.
“Seleen loosen you grip.” Rikki had turned to look at them. Seleen looked at Rikki, “No, why? She’s the enemy!” Rikki stared Seleen in the eyes “Don’t argue with me.” Take the knife down and step back.” Seleen just stood there for a minute.
“I said now!”
“Yes ma’am” Seleen mumbled as she obediently stepped back. Yet Thorn stayed in place.
“Thorn, stand up.” Rikki said gently. Thorn rose.
“Why are you treating us so kindly? We are your enemies.” Thorn said.
“No you are not. Your master is at the moment.” Rikki looked both in the eye, “do you know what you are guarding?”
“Yes,” Thorn said.
“Really, so you know that you are guarding my children that your master kidnapped from me.”
“We were never told the entire story,” Demitri said, “you know better than most that our master wouldn’t do that. Some things just don’t need to be known. All we have been told is that those are his heir and that we are to protect them. They may come out but only the master and Miss Juliana are to go in.”
“Juliana?” Rikki asked.
“Yes, you know her,” Demitri said.
“Yes.”
“How no one is old enough to know her.”
“That’s where you’re wrong. I’m older than her. I stood by the queens’ side along with Juliana. It has been quite some time since I saw her last though.” Rikki said as her eyes began to doze off again.
“No, Rikki you can’t do this now. Snap out of it.” Seleen said but it was too late; Rikki collapsed.
“Juliana! Take the Queen and get out!” Rikki shouted at Juliana as a flaming torch crashed through the window and set the curtains aflame.
“What about you, Rikki we cant leave you.”
“Yes you can. Get out of here now! For the sake of your queen and her unborn child, I will see you again, I promise. Now go!” Juliana escorted the Arrabelle through the passage that led to the bottom of the hill. Rikki stayed as her Queen disappeared. Too many men to count came rushing in the door shortly after she left with flaming torches and stakes in hand.
“How dare you enter the room of her majesty!” Rikki went after them all at once. Kicked off the wall and flipped around to kick half of them in the chest before they knew what had happened, the others came after her and with the flick of her hand all of the torches were on the ground another flick and they were all put out. A snap of the finger and four men flew across the room and thru the window they had thrown the torch thru. Four more men came after and met the same fate as the ones before. Once all the men were out of the room Rikki put out the fire near the window, locked the main door and took the chamber behind the bookcase towards the throne room to check on the rest of the castle.
“Mistress, are you okay.” Juliana ran to Arrabelles’ side as she collapsed in pain.
“Juliana… the… baby… is coming.” Arrabelle gasped.
“Oh, okay. Just breathe in and out. Calm down.” Juliana laid Arrabelle as comfortably as possible and went to her feet to seen blood everywhere.
“What… is… it?”
“There is blood everywhere. But it will be okay. Juliana took off her shirt to clean up the blood with.”
“He’s coming, now!” Arrabelle screamed.
“Yes, I see that.” A head full of black hair appeared out of the birth canal then shoulders and with one more push a baby boy.
“Mistress, the blood won’t stop coming. We have to stop it.”
“Juliana, I know I am not going to live.” Arrabelle gasped for one last breath.
“Take my heir, teach him well and when he is ready bring him back to his home. Tell him I loved him.” Her head dropped in Juliana’s hands.
“What is going on?” Juliana came out the door, with the children following behind, to find Seleen bent over Rikkis’ body.
“How did you get in there?” Thorn asked.
“Thru the passage, now answer my question.” Seleen looked up, “They were talking about Juliana and she went out again. This has happened before; she goes back to that time.”
“I am Juliana and she just took some of my thoughts as well. Come on let’s get her in the room.”
“You can’t do that,” Demitri said. Juliana gave him eyes that alone could kill.
“You really want to argue that with me. She is my oldest Elder and I am taking her into the room.” Demitri’s eyes went strait to the ground.
“Yes, ma’am, please just don’t tell the master that I let you by with her. He’ll be extremely upset.”
“I will take care of it, I give you my word.”
Rikki awoke lying upon a bed. Groggy eyed with not much recollection of where she was, and then she saw Juliana. She was mixing some sort of drink.
“Juliana, she’s waking.” Seleen said.
“Seleen? Juliana?” Yes babe Juliana is here and so are the children. You went to another time again.”
Juliana walked to Rikki and handed her a drink.
“You’re going to need this. I doubt it is as good as your servant makes but it will have to do. I know you promised you would see me again but I didn’t expect it to be from you stealing my thoughts and collapsing.” Juliana laughed, “I’m sorry you had to find out about Queen Arrabelle that way.” Rikki sat up and saw her children sitting at the foot of the bed with Seleen, Juliana at her side.
“So it’s true than, she did give birth. And you took him.”
“Yes, she asked me to. Apparently I didn’t teach him well enough as he has disrespected you as he has.” Rikki shook her head,
“No, it is not your fault. He just never had the opportunity to see the proper way a royal family lives. It looks like our Queen does live on after all; I could see her in him” Rikki smiled, “and in our children. We just need to talk to him. All his power is raw.”
Juliana nodded in agreement.
“You are correct. Possibly if just you and I go to him we can come up with a compromise. After all I did raise him.”
“Wait, why are you here anyways?”
“Randus asked me to come to help his daughter, with little things. She couldn’t do her hair by herself. Little things of that nature, I came willingly. She has so much of our Queen in her and now that I know who the mothers are I see so much of the two of you in her. I’ve grown to love her already.”
“Understandable,” Rikki said.
“Mama Rikki, you okay?” LeNay said.
“Yes dear, are you okay? Has he treated you well?”
“I miss you and mama Seleen but he treat us okay. I play with dolls and Damion play with Swords.”
“What!” Seleen broke in.
“Yes. He got me a mini Katana and taught me to use it.” Damion said. The rage spread like wildfire in Seleen’s eyes.
“Seleen, calm down, it should have been expected. He is a boy and most boys learn young.” Rikki said.
“Not mine!”
“I knew you’d be mad. I told him you would be. But I had so much fun. And I promise I was careful. Please don’t take it from me it’s so pretty.”
“Seleen would you come have a word with Miss Rikki and myself please?” Juliana said before Seleen could respond to Damion.
“What about the kids?”
“They’ll be fine, they’ve been playing in their room by themselves and getting themselves ready for meals for the past couple weeks.”
“Seleen,” Rikki’s tone had come back.
“Fine, let’s step out.” Seleen began walking toward the main door when Rikki grabbed her arm and took her behind a portrait that led to a passage.
“What do you want?” Seleen said once in the passage.
“Seleen, don’t take that tone with her. You will show her respect. She has earned and deserved it.” Rikki said as the mistress in her that had never really been showed towards Seleen seeped out. Taken aback Seleen didn’t know how to react so she did what came to her naturally.
“Yes, ma’am I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize to me apologize to Miss Juliana.”
Seleen looked at Juliana, “I’m truly sorry for my behavior. If I may ask… what would you like to talk with me about?”
Juliana nodded,
“Apology accepted. And you may. I wanted to explain that you really mustn’t get upset with Damion about the sword situation. He’s only a young one and was told it was okay. And in this life it really is quite natural for a young boy to learn to use weaponry.”
“She is quite right, Seleen. Damion doesn’t know better. And it makes him happy. Don’t ruin that for him.”
“But Rikki, I don’t agree with it. And I won’t act as though I do.” Juliana saw the look in Rikki’s eyes.
“Rikki, she is not your slave but your wife.” Juliana said calmly. Rikki nodded her head.
“Yes, you are quite right. Thank you I was getting out of control.” Rikki put her arms around Seleen. Just cuddling her for a moment.
“Babe, I understand you don’t agree with some of the ways of our life. But there is nothing we can do about what he has done. He is acting the way he should be; the way of life that lives in his blood and is teaching his son, his heir to the throne, the same way. Damion can’t be to blame for that.”
“I know but I don’t have to like it. But if it’s what I have to deal with to be with you than I will because I don’t want to be without you, I’m just going to have learn this way of life aren’t I?” Rikki turned to look into Juliana’s eyes.
“I’m afraid so, dear. Your children do have the blood of our queen in them and as such will be treated that way. It would be rather pointless to fight that.” Juliana said.
“Than what should we do?”
“We shall go talk to the Vampire Prince and work something out peacefully.” Rikki said.
“Juliana.”
“Yes, ma’am I will.”
“Will what?” Seleen asked in complete confusion.
“She is going to take us to Prince Randus.”
“Why? Why can’t we just take the kids and leave?”
“Because babe, I have more respect than that. He may be a bit cocky and an ass at times but he is the last of the royal family and deserves respect. I will not leave without consenting him first. Now let’s go. No arguments please.”
Seleen opened the door that led back to the children’s room for Rikki and Juliana. When she entered she saw a young servant girl tending the fire and the children. The girl bowed when Rikki and Juliana entered the room.
“M’ Lady” she said to Juliana, “Mistress” she said to Rikki.
“Young one” Rikki said as she touched the top of her bowed head; her hair was long enough the reach the ground, when knelt, it was jet black and eyes as brown as the beach sand when the tide rolls in.
“I thank you for watching over our children while I was absent.”
“Yes, of course mistress. Anything for you.”
Seleen stood there, arms around the children, watching Rikki.
“Mama what going on?” LeNay’s bright hazel eyes looked up at Seleen.
“Baby that is a very good question, if I had any idea I would tell you.”
“You may stand.” Rikki said to the servant girl, “and return to your duties. If you would be so kind as to watch the children while we go talk to the Prince.”
“Yes mistress.” The girl rose and took the children by their hands, “come along now your mama’s must go attend to business.”
“Can we play dress up like we have been!” Seleen heard LeNay’s voice as they left the room; she couldn’t help but smile with the happiness in her daughter’s voice. It was quite a relief that she has been safe and happy.
“Who is that girl? And why did she treat you in such a way?” Seleen asked Rikki.
“That is Angilina. She is one of the servants that I trained while under the Queen. She belonged to the royal family until they were all killed, though she will always have a loyalty towards me as I was her first mistress. She’s an extremely well trained servant. I would trust her with our children’s lives. Juliana and Angilina are the only that I would besides you and I.”
“We’re here,” Juliana said as they reached the double doors to the throne room, “Seleen don’t speak unless spoken to.” “I can talk when I want to.” Juliana said nothing just looked at Rikki.
“Seleen, if you have another outburst like you did earlier we will end up in that damn chamber again. I don’t want to have to do all this again.”
“Fine, I’ll let you do the talking and stand behind you; like my natural personality demands of me.”
“Thank you babe,” Rikki grabbed Seleen’s head and pulled it to her mouth for a rush of passion. Lips interlocked for minutes as energy once again surged through their bodies. Then a door opened.
Chapter 15
“Juliana, enter. And bring Miss Rikki along as well.” Randus’s voice boomed from the room. Rikki walked in a pace ahead of Juliana and Seleen; Seleen to the right and Juliana to the left of her. All gave a bow of the head before approaching Randus. With the flick of his wrist another chair appeared next to the second one that had sat empty. “Juliana, Rikki, come sit with me.”
“Thank you” Rikki responded as the two sat down; Seleen stood quiet behind Rikki.
“Juliana I must ask… why do you walk behind Rikki? That’s not like you.”
“Randus, you don’t know me as well as you would think. She is my elder and deserves that respect. Your mother would have wanted it that way.”
Randus nodded his head respectfully.
“Fair enough, and that is why you have joined her to talk to me.”
“Yes indeed it is. I would stand by her side for eternity, just as I would you and any other in the family.”
“Alright than, Miss Rikki what is it that you want?” Randus asked. Instantly a smirk spread on his face.
“Wait don’t answer that. If I may I would like to talk to your servant.”
“She is my wife and your children’s mother. But yes you may.”
“Thank you. Seleen, why have you guys come back this evening, have you not learned your lesson the first time?” Seleen was at a loss for words. Knowing she was able to talk at this moment and time yet she just didn’t know what to say to such a question. Anything she said could be taken as the wrong thing to say yet anything could be right. So she stood there in silence contemplating.
Randus sat with the smile of pure evil, “Well while your dear wife contemplates things why don’t we have a nice warm cup of tea.” With a snap of his fingers a tray arrived with four cups and a tea kettle.
“Thank you.” Rikki said as he poured her and Juliana a cup.
“Seleen would you like a cup?” Randus asked.
“No thank you.”
“Well than, are you ready to answer my question.”
“You already know the answer, M’ Lord.” Seleen said.
“Well Miss Rikki, it looks like she has learned a bit. What have you done in the last few hours?”
“M’ Lord, if you don’t mind I don’t feel it is any of your concern how I treat or train for that matter my wife.”
Damion burst through the door gave a bow of the head and before anyone gave him permission walked to the thrones where his parents sat. Angilina followed shortly behind with LeNay walking behind her. She kneeled on the ground as she entered the room.
“Angilina, come here now!” Rikki said before Randus could say anything. Angilina rose and in an instant was kneeling in front of Rikki.”
“LeNay, sweetie, come here.” Seleen said.
“Why are the children here? I told you to watch them for a reason.”
“I wanted to be here for the peace talk.” Damion said.
“Damion, dear, I am talking with Angilina at the moment.”
“I couldn’t stop him. When he puts his mind to something he goes for it, mistress. After all he is your son.”
“Mama I wanted to be here. I know you guys are talking to me and I think I should have say.”
“Let the kid stay.” Randus said.
“I will decide weather or not I feel my child should be present for this conversation.” Rikki said. Randus nodded his head.
“Do you feel he is?”
“I feel he is a bit young but if he wants to than he may.” Damion ran to Rikki and wrapped his small arms around her.
“Thank you mama.”
“Your welcome, now go sit down by your sister and mama and keep quiet until I tell you otherwise.”
“Yes mama.”
“Angilina I would like you to stay as well.”
“Yes mistress,” Angilina said though she continued to kneel in front of her.
Randus snapped and the tea disappeared. “Now let’s get to the business. What is it you propose?”
Juliana spoke up, “I propose that the children go back with their mothers. Let them teach and train them the way they see fit with the guideline that they will keep in mind the royal blood that runs in them. When they reach 12 they can choose weather or not they wish to come see you. And at seventeen weather or not they wish to take on the responsibilities of royalty and protect their fellow kind as their ancestors before.” Juliana looked in Seleen’s eyes than Rikki’s, “That is if you two are okay with that proposition.”
“I think that sounds very good and the age seventeen is traditional age to accept or respectfully decline all responsibilities. Seleen what do you think?”
“I think that sounds reasonable.”
“Mama can I say something?” Damion asked.
“You may, thank you for asking dear.”
“Ya, ya. I think that sounds good. That way I can choose if I want to come back and if LeNay doesn’t want to she doesn’t have to. Can we please do that?”
“Ask our Prince.” Rikki said. Damion jumped up and walked in front of Randus and sat down at the foot of the chair as he had so many times in the past few weeks. Randus looked at him dead in the eye, as a sign of respect.
“Randus.”
“Yes Damion?”
“I know you have heard the plan they would like to take and if it is okay with you I really think that would be best.”
“If that is what you feel would be best, my child, I respect your wishes. I do so hope to see you in a few years by that time I will have reestablished the crown and let the people know that the family has not all been killed. I truly think that will be a relief to all our people.”
“Me too and I think I will come see you when I turn 12 maybe sooner if my mama’s will allow it. I will miss you.” Randus smiled and picked Damion up to sit him on his lap.
“I will miss you as well. You be good. And keep the katana practice, I expect you to beat me when you return.” Damion laughed as a tear ran down his face.
“Thank you… Father.”
LeNay ran over the Randus and jumped on the other side of his lap, “I gonna miss you too. You are nice. I want to tell you that before I leave. Maybe I come see you again too.” Randus couldn’t help but laugh.
“Now you decide to talk. You may keep the dresses and dolls if you would like.”
“Really!” LeNay wrapped her arms around his neck as tight as she could, “thank you! Thank you! You hear that mama Seleen and Rikki. I get to keep um. Can I! Can I!” Seleen smiled, “Yes sweetie of course you can.”
“Okay now, get along.” Randus said as he picked them both up and put them back to the ground, “Be good, both of you. Now go get your things while your mothers and I talk. Angilina, help them gather their things.”
“Yes M’ Lord,” Angilina said as she stood and took both the kids by a hand; within moments they were gone.
The door closed with a thud. Seleen stepped forward, keeping her head lowered a bit.
“May I say something M’ Lord?”
“You may, thank you for asking.”
“I really appreciate you taking care of my children so well. I was worried and have just realized I had no reason to be. And I thank you for that.”
“Now you’ve learned that I’m never what I seem to be. Now you ladies get along. You have a long journey ahead.”
“Thank you M’ Lord, we shall meet again but until then take care of yourself and of our people.” Rikki said.
The three ladies returned to the room to find two suitcases packed and the children sitting atop them. Angilina brushing LeNay’s hair, Damion holding his sword like his life depended upon it.
“Alright, let’s head out.” Rikki said, “Angilina can you bring the bags downstairs please.”
“Yes, of course mistress.”
Andrew and the care waited patiently at the door when they arrived outside the castle. Juliana hugged Rikki as a tear ran down her cheek.
“I hate to part again but the prince needs an advisor.”
“I understand. We shall meet again. Do take care of yourself.”
“I will, I swear to you. And you take care of those precious children and wife of yours.”
“Wouldn’t have it any other way.” With another breathtaking hug the friends of centuries parted once again.
“To the house, mistress.” Andrew said once all were in the car.
“Yes Andrew. Thank you and make sure the plane is ready we will depart for New York tomorrow morning.”
“Yes, ma’am. If I may… are these the young ones?”
“Oh, yes so sorry. Andrew this is LeNay and Damion. Seleen and my children.”
“Pleasure to meet you kids. I hope to get to know you better over the years.”
He watched from the shadows atop the roof of the castle, with the gargoyles, as his children drove out of his life. As a tear ran down each side of his face for both children nothing but the hope they would return filled his heart.
