shame in writing?

02:38 Nov 10 2011
Times Read: 513

okay before I begin there is a little back story information I should put out there, I write and I love writing, by nature I really don’t care much about what people think and I am usually never embarrassed. that being said I can now get into my main topic.

so over the last yearish time I wrote this book of about 240 some odd pages (when I say I wrote the book I mean I finished the first draft I’m still editing it. but it has a beginning middle and end) and I think on the whole its okay but I find myself embarrassed to tell people what its about: vampires. im passionate about the subject I love vampires as fictional characters and I liked writing about them but I find it hard to tell anyone cause I feel like they think A: oh great another vampire book

B:anne rice already wrote that book it was called interview with a vampire (and no my book is not in interview form nor is my main character even hundreds of years old)

C: vampires are for teenage girls in love with glitter monsters (can for anyone wonder no my vampires don’t sparkle)

so for those reasons I haven’t really done much with it as in showing anyone else or putting it out there is anyone else like this? anyways I guess the thing im asking it am I the only one ashamed of certain things they right about? and are vampires dead as a subject to write about?
