Ode to The Sin Collector
By Martin

Billie MacPhee 1914 – 1920 Gathered Home

Marble and granite litter her Garden
I drop by to see her
But not to save her
She’s already been saved
The children’s section at Rose City bathes in an aura of innocence
My services are available in the children’s section
As, every so often, a child will be wrapped in guilt when they pass
Like the child who hid in an old refrigerator whilst playing hide and seek
She took the pain on her parents faces into her soul
Mistakenly, she carried that tragic mistake as if it were unrepented sin
There is much unrepented sin at the cemetery
The way that I figure it, everyone was innocent at the moment of their birth
Whether it’s a life of long, or short years
I think every soul should have the opportunity to rediscover innocence

I started out as a guy on the mend
I was running my way back to health in the garden
Everybody had fucked me over, and I was totally alone in the world of the living
In the marble and granite garden however; I felt. I felt so many things
Love. Honor. Commitment. Loneliness. Sorrow. Guilt. Hate. Trapped.
I wondered why there were so many negative feelings in the air?
This garden was healing me; So, how could I promote some healing within the garden?
My idea: allow souls to attach their unrepented sin to my living soul
I will do their penance. I can take it.
Of course, this is a free, no strings attached service
I just could not continue taking so much from the garden
Therefore; I found something that I could do for the garden

That, is how the “Ode to The Sin Collector” came to be

“Sin Collector … I know that every soul here was formed in innocence, you deserve to return to the innocence.” “You can attach any unrepented sin to me and I’ll do the penance.”
“Thank you for sharing your garden with me.”

“Billie MacPhee is over a hundred and three”
I hear children chanting through giggles
As I wind my way through the garden
In my search for sin
